  • This paper presents development of the submersible pump-motor with a high voltage and large capacity. Today many manufacturers are fabricated submersible pump-motor in this country. But only there are small or midium capacity pump-motor of low voltage. Also the condition of large flow rated it will not be caplable of carrying out the task of which various for reason geographically and seasonably. In order to be equal to the task it will be increase its capacity. Recently we were development that the large capacity with high voltage submersible pump-motor.

와류저감기능이 적용된 수중펌프에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Submersible Pumps with a Vortex Reduction Function)

  • A pump is considered to be submersible when a motor and a pump are integrated and operate while submerged in water. Submersible pumps mainly function as rejection pumps to prevent foods in densely populated areas, as cold water circulation pumps in large power plants, as pumps to supply irrigation water, as drainage pumps to prevent flooding of agricultural lands, as water supply intake pumps, and as inflow pumps for sewage treatment. The flow in such turbomachines (submersible pumps) inevitably involves various eddy currents. Since it is almost impossible to accurately grasp the complex three-dimensional flow structure and characteristics of a rotating turbomachine through actual testing, three-dimensional numerical analysis using computational fluid dynamics techniques measuring the flow field, velocity, and the pressure can be accurately predicted. In this study, the shape of the impeller was developed to reduce vibration and noise. This was done by increasing the efficiency of the existing submersible pump and reducing turbulence. In order to evaluate the pump's efficiency and turbulence reduction, we tried to analyze the flow using ANSYS Fluent V15.0, a commercial finite element analysis program. The results show that the efficiency of the pump was improved by 4.24% and the Reynolds number was reduced by 15.6%. The performance of a developed pump with reduced turbulence, vibration, and noise was confirmed.

수중 모터펌프 베어링 유닛 열전달 해석 (Heat Transfer Analysis of Bearing Unit in Submersible Motor Pump)

  • The purpose of this paper is to find a proper cooling system of bearing unit in the submersible motor pump to extend a life time. To do this, heat transfer analysis of the submersible motor pump were performed using commercial CFD code ANSYS. In order to obtain the resonable heat transfer simulation results, we first set up mathematical model of heat source in the bearing system, and carried out heat transfer analysis with the model. As a results, new type bearing cap which had several ribs for cooling the bearing was proposed. Finally, through the comparison between experimental results of old and new model pump, we proofed that maximum bearing temperature of new model was about 10% lower than that of old model.

수중모우터펌프의 축추력 저감에 관한 연구 (Reducing the Axial Thrust of the Submersible Motor Pump)

  • The submersible motor pump could have much more merits than the general pump such as higher exhaustion head, narrower installahon place, lower noise due to operating in the water and so on. But, so far, hydraulic mechanism of the axial thrust at impeller was not analysed quantitatively and so it is very difficult to solve the occuring problems. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to minimize the axial thrust acting on thrust bearing of submersible motor pump through the analysis of hydraulic mechanism of thrust and design rivision of impeller. Test carried out on the pump with an impeller 92mm in diameter, 6 balacing holes 10mm in diameter, showed the thrust is reduced by about 86% at the normal operating point.

Design and performance research of a mixed-flow submersible deep well pump

  • To meet the demand of higher handling capacity, a mixed-flow submersible deep well pump was designed and tested. The main hydraulic components are made of plastics, which is free of erosion, light-weight, and environment-friendly. To simplify plastic molding process, and to improve productivity, an axial-radial guide vane was proposed. To clarify its effect on the performance, a radial guide vane and a space guide vane are developed as well. By comparison, the efficiency of the pump equipped with the axial-radial guide vane is higher than the radial guide vane and is lower than the space guide vane, and its high efficiency range is wide. The static pressure recovery of the axial guide vane is a bit lower than the space guide vane, but it is much larger than the radial guide vane. Taking the cost and molding complexity into consideration, the axial-radial guide vane is much economic, promoting its popularity for the moderate and high specific speed submersible deep well pumps.

  • This paper focuses on the single stage and multistage performance characteristics of centrifugal mixed flow submersible borewell pump. This study reveals that the performance of single stage pump is higher than that of multistage pumps. The head, input power and efficiency of single stage pump are higher than the per stage head, per stage input power and efficiency of multistage pumps. This study is divided into three parts. In the first part, five prototype pumps were made in single stage and multistage construction and the performance tests were conducted. In the second part, numerical validation has been done for different turbulence models and grid sizes. k-Omega SST model has been selected for the performance simulation and was validated with the performance of the test pump with static pressure tappings. In the third part, single and three stage pump performance were simulated numerically and compared with experimental results. The detailed analysis of pressure and velocity distributions reveals the difference in performance of single and three stage pump, due to non-uniform flow and difference in averaged flow velocities at the subsequent impeller inlets except the 1st stage impeller inlet.

However, the small gap between the flange of the base plate and that of the pipe due to the head rise, the flow momentum change and the mis-installation makes leakage flow that may be a great loss to the pumping system. In this study, the performance degradation was predicted with the simple leakage flow model through the gap. The newly developed ADC was tested and the leakage performance was compared with the old one and also no-leakage piping system. The newly developed ADC reduced the leakage flow in a satisfactory way in comparison with the old model.

지하수 수위가 개방형 지열시스템 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Influence of Groundwater Level on the System Performance of Open Loop Geothermal System)

  • Open loop geothermal heat pumps have great potential where the groundwater resources are sufficient. Performance of open loop geothermal heat pump systems is considered higher than that of ground source heat pumps. Head and power calculation of submersible pumps, heat pump units, and piping are numerically based on regression data. Results shows that the system performance drops as the water level drops, and the lowest flow rates generally achieve the highest system COPs. The highest achievable cooling system COPs become 6.34, 6.12, and 5.95 as the groundwater levels are 5m, 15m, and 25m. The highest heating system COPs also become 4.59, 4.37, and 4.20. Groundwater level and submersible pump selection greatly influence the system performance of open loop geothermal heat pumps. It needs to be analysed during the design process of open loop geothermal heat pump system, possibly with analysis tools that include wide range of pump product data.

2엽 수중 슬러리 펌프 임펠러 전산해석 (CFD Analysis of Submersible Slurry Pump with Two Blades)

  • 본 연구는 볼텍스 형태를 대신하는 원심형태의 비 막힘형 2엽 수중 슬러리 펌프 임펠러를 개발하기 위해 수행하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 펌프 설계에 있어 중요한 변수로 입구면 날개각(blade angle)과 날개 길이 각(blade length angle) $\alpha$를 선정하여 이들이 펌프의 효율에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 상용 코드인 ANSYS CFX and BladeGen을 사용하여 해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 입구면 임펠러 날개 형상은 $\beta$값이 $30^{\circ}$ 로 일정한 값을 가질 때 가장 높은 효율을 가지게 됨을 알 수 있었으며, $\alpha$값은 효율에 비례하는 특징을 가짐을 관찰할 수 있었다.
