The purpose of this study was to examine elementary teachers' perception on birds and problems on teaching it. For this study, the science textbooks from 3rd grade to 6th grade according to the 7th national curriculum were analyzed. Results revealed that, firstly, there were 34 bird species recorded and these were described 55 times in the surveyed textbooks. Secondly, the survey showed that $20\%$ of the teachers were interested in birds despite the fact that $98\%$ of them had no special knowledge about birds nor had studied them in college. Additionally, it was revealed that $41\%$ of the teachers felt lacking in specialist knowledge about birds and this lead to difficulties in teaching on this subject. Thirdly, academic backgrounds had an affect teachers' perceptions on teaching this area. The teachers' levels of interest in birds and the teachers' ratio of teaching on this topic tended to increase as their academic careers developed, and the proportion of male teachers in this category were higher than female teachers. To overcome difficulty in teaching on this area, it is suggested that a reconstitution of subject materials, as well as a revision of the teachers' guidebooks be undertaken.

This study investigated the current state of the reference services of the Korean university libraries and examined ways to improve the system. Especially this study introduced the concept of 'subjectized reference services'and tried to find a way to apply it to the present stage of the Korean university libraries. For that purpose, this study surveyed the reference librarians of the university libraries across the country. The results of this study can be used as the basic data for training 'subject specialist librarians', who can provide specialized services appropriate to the realities of the Korean university libraries.

The main propulsion system may be the most complicated of the shipboard systems. Many factors such as fuel economy, weight, space, first cost, reliability, vibration and noise must be considered when selecting the prime mover of the main propulsion system for ships. An expert system is a computer program that represents and reasons with knowledge of some specialist subject with a view to solving problems or giving advice. Recently, it is being developed increasingly with wider applications in many industries. This paper describes development of knowledge-based system for main engine selection of ships using general purpose expert system development tool, Nexpert Object. Developed system is consist of ship performance estimation module such as resistance and propulsion, data base for main engine, knowledge base for main engine selection in Nexpert Object and graphic user interface.

The purpose of this research is to suggest how to develop the internet homepage of the general hospital. The research was operated with 72 general hospitals which were titled 'general hospital' by subject in internet web search engine. The contents of general hospital homepage was studied by internet screen. On the other hand, It was surveyed for homepage operation by mail questionaire. The contents was mainly composed with (1) introduction of hospital (2) medical examination and the treatment-related information (3) the information & communication (4) the general medicare service, specialist & employee service. In order to operate homepage effectively, inquiry system, reservation system, consulting, information search, phone number, etc, web database shall be established inside of hospital homepage which will link compatible with computer database in hospital. Human resources employment & purchasing order system used by a enterprise shall be in consideration of adopting, since it has various merits in light of hospital management.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the elementary school teacher's status and recognition of nutrition education (NE) in Incheon. A cross-sectional study was carried out using a self-administered questionnaire and subjects were 147 elementary school teachers. The results are as follows. Only 9.5% of the teachers had training in NE and 71.4% of the teachers with training increased concern about NE after training. As for experience of NE, 61.6% of the teachers experienced NE and more than half of them gave NE less than twice per month. There was a significant difference in reason for not giving NE between subgroups by teaching career; 57.7% of the teachers with career more than 10 years did not give NE due to too much other work. As for existence of nutrition educator in school, 48.9% of the teachers recognized its existence and 91.3% of them answered that dietitians have done NE. For correction of unbalanced diet, good table manner, and nutrition and growth, 97.9% of the teachers answered that NE is necessary in elementary school. As for proper time to start NE, 57.5% of the teachers answered kindergarten and 39,7% answered lower grade of elementary school. As for effective type for NE, 47.3% of the teachers answered NE as a part of other subject and 28.1 % answered NE as a separate subject. Also 69.8% of the teachers answered dietitian as suitable person for NE. As for newly establishing a NE subject, 37.9% of the teachers disagreed and as for most effective method for NE, 73.3% answered NE linked with school lunch program. Most of teachers recognized elementary school students' eating habit problem severe and change of their eating habit such as various food choice, no plate waste and good table manner after school lunch program. Therefore, it should be nationally supported that a standardized NE program is developed and coordinated among teachers, school lunch dietitian as NE specialist, family and community for elementary students' health and well-being.

This study was attempted to identify the knowledge to breast-feeding and the performance of nursing activities for breast-feeding and to test 'how does the degree of knowledge to breast-feeding influence the nursing activities for breast-feeding?' The subjects were 180 nurses working in delivery rooms, nursery, obstetrics & pediatrics wards or OPD of obstetrics & gynecology of 8 general hospitals in Pusan as of August 3 through 13, 1996. The results are abstracted as follows. 1) Subject nurses' age, 25-29 was 45.6%(the major), education levels graduates from junior college were 95.0%, unmarried status was 62.2%, 76.5% of married nurses had children, 39.7% in-service education for Breast-Feeding, 33.7% did nursing activities for breast-feeding actively, the reason for inadequate activities for breast-feeding was 'too much other tasks.' 2) The degree of knowledge to breast-feeding ; mean score was 13.54, the degree of performance of nursing activities for breast-feeding : 92.38±20.93 points out of possible 145 points (3.19±.74 out of possible 5 points) moaned that it was a low level. 3) The hypothesis 'the nurses who have higher degrees of knowledge to breast-feeding will show higher degrees of performance of nursing activities for breast-feeding than the nurses who have lower degrees of knowledge to breast-feeding' was tested by t-test(t=-.01, P=.9888), but rejected because it turned out statistically not significant at the level of P<.05. Above results suggested the degrees of knowledge to breast-feeding and the degrees of performance of nursing activities for breast-feeding were generally low and the degree of knowledge didn't influence the nursing activities. Researchers believe that the education for breast-feeding by the nurses need to be performed systemically & practically and new method of breast-feeding education program need to include hospital managers as well as nurses related mothers and their family. In audition, researchers propose the introduction of &lactation specialist system&, for the specialist can change the attitude of feeding-mothers positively with their specialty and authority.

Technology development of modern society reduces times, costs and labor costs but demands work forces requiring expert knowledge on technology. Consequently knowledge worker becomes important. Not changing into a specialist acquired expert knowledge, people can't survive in competitive society. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to grasp the actual condition of private security industry and to examine problems. The final goal is to find the way to improve the professionalism of workers in private security industry. First. Now we must make up for the subject for examination actually and be in a triangular position and complement a professional materials for teaching. At the same time it must strengthen the education using advanced instruments seek to Total Security System. Moreover it is demanded 'institutional supplement of security guard instructors' which means job training for security guard instructor Second. On the job training which can deal with a state of emergency through 'security guard training' with a theory and an actual training must be strengthen. Also, most security guards have low understandings and interests because their ages are from 50's to 60's. Accordingly proper education must be offered to security guard. Third. Certification system of the private security guards are needed to fix the problems on an indiscreet issue and an abuse of license through deliberation on the security license. Fourth. Universities must find a new market to minimize the squandering of human resources because of oversupply and reduce the personnel. Also with enhancing the employment rate through specialized education, universities must offer an education which keeps pace with the times for not an entrance strategy but a long-term development. Effort for education of specialist will produce an improvement in business quality and improved services produce a customer satisfaction. A customer satisfaction will produce a fame of a successful company and positive images in market area. Finally the private industry will be developed by productivity improvement.

This study was conducted to examine the nurses' role in Oriental medical hospital and the necessity of Oriental medical nursing system. Data were collected from 194 nurses in 14 Oriental medical hospitals located in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Kwangju, Kangwon Province, Kyungbuk Province from July 1, 2000 to September 10, 2000. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. In nurse's level of knowledge of acupuncture point in current Oriental nursing practice, 28.4% of the respondents did not know acupuncture points at all, while 30.9% knew them a little. 40.7% of them did not almost know them. 2. According to nurses' role in Oriental medical hospital, they did a lot of duty for measurement of vitality, medical record, Dr. notifying, communication with medical team and related departments, and observation of patients' conditions. They did a little duty for handling Oriental medical practice. 3. As the subject of curriculum for Oriental medical nursing, 52.1% chose training course for Oriental medical nursing, while 25.8% chose inclusion of the curriculum in the school of nursing. 39.2% replied that they would take the training course for Oriental medical nursing, while 3.6% answered that they would not take it. 68.6% of them thought that Oriental medical nursing system should be introduced, while 4.1% objected to introducing the system. The nurses in Oriental medical hospitals are working with many problems because of their role confusion and low level of knowledge in Oriental medicine. Therefore, systematic curriculum and research related to Oriental medical nursing are necessary. Oriental medical nursing system must be introduced in order to make nurses have professional knowledge and skill in Oriental medicine. The nurses then can provide services of good quality for the patients.
