  • This paper proposed a versatile algorithm based on a dual-tree complex wavelet transform for intensifying the visual aspect of medical images. First, the decomposition of the input image into a high sub-band and low-sub-band image is done. Further, to improve the resolution of the resulting image, the high sub-band image is interpolated using Lanczos interpolation. Also, contrast enhancement is performed by singular value decomposition (SVD). Finally, the image reconstruction is achieved by using an inverse wavelet transform. Then, the Gaussian filter will improve the visual quality of the image. We have collected images from the hospital and the internet for quantitative and qualitative analysis. These images act as a reference image for comparing the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm with the existing state-of-the-art. We have divided the proposed algorithm into several stages: preprocessing, contrast enhancement, resolution enhancement, and visual quality enhancement. Both analyses show the proposed algorithm's effectiveness compared to existing methods.

  • Each pixel in a matching block does not equally contribute to block matching and the matching error is greatly affected by image complexity. On the basis of the facts, this paper proposes a fast motion estimation algorithm using some sub-blocks selected by the image complexity. The proposed algorithm divides a matching block into 16 sub-blocks, computes the image complexity in every sub-block, executes partial block matching using some sub-blocks with large complexity, and detects a motion vector. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm brings about negligible image degradation, but can reduce a large amount of computation in comparison with conventional algorithms.

  • This study proposes a modified sub-aperture stitching algorithm, which uses an image sharpening algorithm and particle swarm optimization to improve the stitching accuracy. In sub-aperture stitching interferometers with high positional accuracy, the high-frequency components of measurements are more important than the low-frequency components when compensating for position errors using a sub-aperture stitching algorithm. Thus we use image sharpening algorithms to strengthen the high-frequency components of measurements. When using image sharpening algorithms, sub-aperture stitching algorithms based on the least-squares method easily become trapped at locally optimal solutions. However, particle swarm optimization is less likely to become trapped at a locally optimal solution, thus we utilized this method to develop a more robust algorithm. The results of simulations showed that our algorithm compensated for position errors more effectively than the existing algorithm. An experimental comparison with full aperture-testing results demonstrated the validity of the new algorithm.

  • In this paper, we perform Single Image Super Resolution(SISR) for acquired images of EOTS or IRST from naval combat system. In order to conduct super resolution, we use Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs), which consists of a generative model to create a super-resolution image from the given low-resolution image and a discriminative model to determine whether the generated super-resolution image is qualified as a high-resolution image by adjusting various learning parameters. The learning parameters consist of a crop size of input image, the depth of sub-pixel layer, and the types of training images. Regarding evaluation method, we apply not only general image quality metrics, but feature descriptor methods. As a result, a larger crop size, a deeper sub-pixel layer, and high-resolution training images yield good performance.

  • Digital image forgery detection is one of very important fields in the field of digital forensics. As the forged images change naturally through the advancement of technology, it has made it difficult to detect forged images. In this paper, we use passive forgery detection for copy paste forgery in digital images. In addition, it detects copy-paste forgery using the L0 Norm-based LE operator, and compares the detection accuracy with the forgery detection using the existing L2, L1 Norm-based LE operator. In comparison of detection rates, the proposed lower triangular(Ayalneh and Choi) window was more robust to BAG mismatch detection than the conventional window filter. In addition, in the case of using the lower triangular window, the performance of image forgery detection was measured increasingly higher as the L2, L1 and L0 Norm LE operator was performed.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the influence of women's attitudes toward women's underwear on image-creation efficacy and appearance management attitude. A total of 405 surveys of women working at an industrial complex in the Daegu-Kyoungbuk area were used for data analysis. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis were used for data analysis. The findings were as follows. The sub-factors of women's attitudes regarding women's underwear were found to be 'aesthetics/body-style compensation', 'ostentation', 'functionality', and 'manner estimation' and the sub-factors of image-making efficacy were 'display confidence', 'face-image confidence' and 'display ability'. Appearance management attitude had factors such as total coordination, weight management, skin management, and pursuit of change. Aesthetics/body-style compensation, functionality, and ostentation, which were sub-variables of attitudes toward underwear, had a significant influence on image-creation efficacy. Aesthetics/body-style compensation and ostentation had significant influences on appearance management attitude. Aesthetics/body-style compensation was found to have a significant influence on all sub-variables of both image-creation efficacy and appearance management attitude.

  • In this paper, we propose an image enhancement method for vehicle recorder by dividing the images into sub-images and finding local histograms of the sub-images. The proposed method includes the following steps. Firstly, the input image is divided into ($N{\times}M$) pieces. And the sub-images are used to make groups using the adjacent piece-images (eg. piece-imagei,j, piece-imagei,j+1, piece-imagei+1,j and piece-imagei+1,j+1). Secondly, the contrast enhancement processes are executed using the local histogram of the sub-images. Finally, overall image is reconstructed by using a transfer function that reflects the characteristics of the sub-image. The proposed method might achieve more enhanced images for vehicle recorder by suppressing excessive image contrast.

  • The demand for high-resolution images is gradually increasing, whereas many imaging systems have been designed to allow a certain level of aliasing during image acquisition. Thus, digital image processing approaches have recently been investigated to reconstruct a high-resolution image from aliased low-resolution images. However, since the sub-pixel motion information is assumed to be accurate in most conventional approaches, the satisfactory high-resolution image cannot be obtained when the sub-pixel motion information is inaccurate. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new algorithm to reduce the distortion in the reconstructed high-resolution image due to the inaccuracy of sub-pixel motion information. For this purpose, we analyze the effect of inaccurate sub-pixel motion information on a high-resolution image reconstruction, and model it as zero-mean additive Gaussian errors added respectively to each low-resolution image. To reduce the distortion we apply the modified multi-channel image deconvolution approach to the problem. The validity of the proposed algorithm is both theoretically and experimentally demonstrated in this paper.

  • Reduction effect of the spread of odorant and fine dust through windbreak trees can be predicted through numerical analysis. However, there is a disadvantage that a large space and destructive experiments must be carried out each time to calculate the aerodynamic coefficient of the tree. In order to overcome these shortcomings, In this study, we aimed to estimate the aerodynamic coefficient (C0, C1, C2) by using image processing. Thuja occidentalis, which can be used as windbreak were used as the material. The leaf area index was estimated from the leaf area ratio using image processing with leaf weight, and the optical porosity was calculated through image processing of photos taken from the side while removing the leaves step-by-step. Correlation analysis was conducted with the aerodynamic coefficient of Thuja occidentalis calculated from the wind tunnel test and leaf area index and optical porosity calculated from the image analysis. The aerodynamic coefficient showed positive and negative correlations with the leaf area index and optical porosity, respectively. The results showed that the possibility of estimating the aerodynamic coefficient using image processing.
