In order to implement morphological filters on image processing systems, the size of structuring element must be small due to the architectural constraints of the systems, which requires the decomposition of structuring element into small elements for the filters with large structuring elements. In this paper, an algorithm for decomposition of structuring element with no restriction on the shape and size is developed which enables sub-optimal implementation of any morphological filter on 3X3 pipeline machine. The given structuring element is first decomposed into the union of elements using sequential search procedure, then each element is further decomposed optimally into 3X3 elements, resulting in final sub-optimal 3$\times$3 hybrid decomposition. The proposed algorithm is applied to some structuring elements and the results close to the optimum are obtained.
This paper presents the application of hybrid-simulation-based adapter elements for the non-linear two-scale analysis of reinforced concrete frames with masonry infills under seismic-like demands. The approach provides communication and distribution of the computations carried out by two or more remote or locally distributed numerical models connected through the OpenFresco Framework. The modeling consists of a global analysis formed by macro-elements to represent frames and walls, and to reduce global degrees of freedom, portions of the structure that require advanced analysis are substituted by experimental elements and dimensional couplings acting as interfaces with their respective sub-assemblies. The local sub-assemblies are modeled by solid finite elements where the non-linear behavior of concrete matrix and masonry infill adopt a continuum damage representation and the reinforcement steel a discrete one, the conditions at interfaces between concrete and masonry are considered through a contact model. The methodology is illustrated through the analysis of a frame-wall system subjected to lateral loads comparing the results of using macro-elements, finite element model and experimental observations. Finally, to further assess and validate the methodology proposed, the paper presents the pushover analysis of two more complex structures applying both modeling scales to obtain their corresponding capacity curves.
Textbooks are important resources in support of teaching and learning mathematics competencies which are emphasized in the most recently revised mathematics curriculum. This study analyzed how six mathematics competencies and their sub-elements are implemented in the mathematics textbooks for the fifth and sixth grades. A total of 465 activities or items in the targeted textbooks were analyzed. The findings of this study showed that both the communication competence and the reasoning competence were the most frequent competencies, followed by the problem solving competence. In contrast, the other three competences (i.e., creativity and integration, attitude and practice, and information processing) were less popular. Detailed analyses of sub-elements according to each competence revealed that one or two specific sub-elements were emphasized within a competence. Whereas "expressing one's idea" was the most prevalent sub-element in the communication competence, both "analyzing mathematical facts" and "observation and conjecture" were the most frequent in the reasoning practice. Specific sub-elements were jointly implemented within or across competences. "External connections of mathematics and integration" in the creativity and integration competence was carried out in relation to "recognition of values" in the attitude and practice competence. This paper also included some examples of activities or items showing how specific sub-elements of each competence were reflected on. This study is expected to provide implications on how to implement mathematics competencies throughout the textbooks.
Fine ceramic particles of zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA), titania toughened alumina (TTA), and zirconia-titania toughened alumina (ZTTA) have been synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) at various temperatures from starting salt solutio ns of various compositions aiming for the development of catalytic material. These particles were characterized for properties such as shape, size and size distribution, diffraction pattern, and chemical and phase composition of elements by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size analyzer (PSA), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Chemical compositions and sizes of ceramic composites have been controled by the stoichiometry of salt solutions and the flow rate of spraying solutions. The optimum experimental conditions for the various composite particle syntheses have been proposed.

This study investigated the phase transformation of the REBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ (RE=Nd, Gd, Dy) superconductor, and CCT (Continuous-Cooling-Transformation) along with the TTT (Time-Temperature-Transformation) diagrams are suggested according to the isothermal and continuous cooling heat-treatments. The peritectic temperature of the 123 phases decreased approximately 3$0^{\circ}C$ when the ionic radius of the rare-earth elements was reduced. The optimum cooling rate where BC and Cu-free phases do not exist was 0.001$^{\circ}C$/s. At this cooling late, the 123 phase grew with a c-axis Perpendicular to the surface and had a well-distributed 211 phase. When the oxygen partial pressure was reduced Outing isothermal heat-treatment, the formation temperature of the 211 phase decreased. In addition, the formation temperature of the 123 phases decreased from 100$0^{\circ}C$ (Nd-123) to 9$25^{\circ}C$ (Gd-123), and finally 875$^{\circ}C$ (Dy-123) according to the decrease in the ionic radius of the tare-earth elements. Compared to Nd-123, Gd- and Dy-123 had a better texture with a well-distributed 211 phase.e.
Excellent thermal neutron absorption performance of boron expands the potential use of boron rich slag to prepare epoxy resin matrix nuclear shielding composites. However, shielding attenuation behaviors and mechanism of the composites against gamma rays are unclear. Based on the radiation protection theory, Phy-X/PSD, XCOM, and 60Co gamma ray source were integrated to obtain the shielding parameters of boron rich slag/epoxy resin composites at 0.015-15 MeV, which include mass attenuation coefficient (µt), linear attenuation coefficient (µ), half value thickness layer (HVL), electron density (Neff), effective atomic number (Zeff), exposure buildup factor (EBF) and exposure absorption buildup factor (EABF).µt, µ, HVL, Neff, Zeff, EBF and EABF are 0.02-7 cm2/g, 0.04-17 cm-1, 0.045-20 cm, 5-14, 3 × 1023-8 × 1023 electron/g, 0-2000, and 0-3500. Shielding performance is BS4, BS3, BS3, BS1 in descending order, but worse than ordinary concrete. µ and HVL of BS1-BS4 for 60Co gamma ray is 0.095-0.110 cm-1 and 6.3-7.2 cm. Shielding mechanism is main interactions for attenuation gamma ray by BS1-BS4 are elements with higher content or higher atomic number via Photoelectric Absorption at low energy range, and elements with higher content via Compton Scattering and Pair Production in Nuclear Field at middle and higher energy range.
In this paper, the conceptual framework of IBS(Intelligent Building Systems) is redefined, and we propose two ANP(Analytic Network Process) models for ranking IBS. Traditional models have ranked IBS according to technical features or the number of elements in IBS. But, we consider relative functional importance among IBS elements for efficient building operation. According to the structure of interactive-relationship among IBS elements, we present two types of model. The one is Model A that is composed of both hierarchical and network structures. It has $12{\times}12$ supermatrix consists of interdependent relationship between 6 benefit elements(Productivity, Saving, Safety, Convenience, Pleasantness, Environment Affinity) and 6 IBS elements(Building Operation, Security, Safety, Telecommunication(TC), Office Automation(OA), other elements). Each of 6 IBS elements has subelements in hierarchical structure. The other is Model B that has $25{\times}25$ supermatrix consists of interdependent relationship between 6 benefit elements and 19 IBS sub elements. Merits and demerits of each model are discussed in detail.

The purpose of this study is to examine the previous literature in home economics and contents and achievement standards of 2009 revised curruculum in relation to character education. To achieve this purpose 1) the literature review in human development and family, self-management and consumption life, food, clothing, and housing life area is critically discussed in relation to character education, and 2) curriculum contents and achievement standards are analysed in relation to the six pillars(trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship) of character education proposed by Josephson Institute. The results of analysis are verified by five experts in home economics content areas. Specific results of relation between home economics contents/achievement standards and six elements of character education are as follows. Human development and family area is most closely related with all elements of character education among other content areas. In Self-management and consumption life areas, self-management sub-area is very closely related with responsibility element; and consumption life sub-area is very closely related with citizenship element. In food area, health diet and eating sub-area is very closely related with trustworthiness, respect, and responsibility elements; and eco-frendly diet and food sub-area is very closely related with all six elements. In clothing area, clothing and self-expression sub-area is very closely related with trustworthiness, caring, and citizenship elements; and eco-friendly clothing and clothing reform sub-area is very closely related with responsibility, caring, and citizenship elements. In hosing area, housing and living environment sub-area is very closely related with responsibility and caring elements; and sustainable living and decorating living space sub-area is very closed related with trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship elements.
When G is an abelian group, we use the notation M(G, n) to denote the Moore space. The space X is the wedge product space of Moore spaces, given by X = M(ℤq, n+ 2) ∨ M(ℤq, n+ 1) ∨ M(ℤq, n). We determine the self-homotopy classes group [X, X] and the self-homotopy equivalence group 𝓔(X). We investigate the subgroups of [Mj , Mk] consisting of homotopy classes of maps that induce the trivial homomorphism up to (n + 2)-homotopy groups for j ≠ k. Using these results, we calculate the subgroup 𝓔dim#(X) of 𝓔(X) in which all elements induce the identity homomorphism up to (n + 2)-homotopy groups of X.
