The Change of the Structure of Green Space by the Change of the Floor Area Ratio in Apartment Complex (용적률 변화에 따른 공동주택 단지내 녹지구조 변화특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose the change of green area and green structure according to the change of the Floor Area Ratio(FAR) of apartment complex. The survey site was selected two each of apartment complex after due consider three type that is, the FAR below 100%, the FAR below 250% and the FAR over 250%. Green rate is 40.23~44.23%, green width is 3~15m, green volume is 1.06~1.71㎥/$m^2$, planting density of cannopy layer is 0.04~0.06tree/$m^2$, planting density of understory layer is 0.06~0.20tree/$m^2$ in case of Hwagok 2nd Jugong apartment(FAR 99%) and Gaepo Jugong apartment(FAR 73%) constructed in the 1970~1980. Green rate is 24.16~26.16%, green width is 3~7m, green volume is 0.84~1.54㎥/$m^2$, planting density of cannopy layer is 0.18~0.31tree/$m^2$, planting density of understory layer is 0.15~0.35tree/$m^2$ in case of Deungchon Jugong aparment(FAR 226%) and Gaehwa apartment(FAR240%) construsted in the mid-1990's. Green rate is 23.47~25.53%, green width is 2~6m, green volume is 1.06~2.12㎥/$m^2$, planting density of cannopy layer is 0.25tree/$m^2$, planting density of understory layer is 0.22~0.37tree/$m^2$ in case of Hanbo Guam apartment(FAR 269%) and Donga 3rd apartment(FAR 376%) constructed in the last-1990's. As the results of analysis of green structure according to changes of the Floor Area Ratio(FAR), the greater the FAR, the higher the rate of green area. The green volume and planted density is low without the change of the FAR and planted structure was simple-layer structure composed of alien woody species.

Effects of Stress Perception Level on Dietary Habits and Oral Health Behaviors in Adolescents (청소년의 스트레스 인지수준이 식습관 및 구강건강행태에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship that adolescent stress perception level has with dietary habits and oral health behaviors in high school students. A survey of high school students in some areas of the Jeollabuk-do province of South Korea was conducted. Five hundred fourteen survey responses were used in the final analysis. As a result of the questionnaire survey, the following conclusions were obtained. The highest stress type was indicated to be academic stress (mean${\pm}$standard deviation [SD], $3.09{\pm}0.89$). The next was shown to be home (family) stress (mean${\pm}$SD, $2.85{\pm}0.84$). The possibility of using a dental clinic was indicated to be less in girls than boys (p<0.001). Regarding subjective oral health behavior, the possibility of visiting a dental clinic was low in those who thought that their own oral health condition was not good or moderate (p<0.05). Also, it was shown that the higher stress led to the higher possibility of visiting a dental clinic (p<0.01). Students with higher grades had a in the upper ranks were indicated to have high possibility of having a regular meal (p<0.01). Higher stress led to the significantly higher possibility of eating cariogenic food (p<0.01). Students with median grades had a high possibility of eating cariogenic food (p<0.01), while students with higher grades had a low possibility of eating cariogenic food (p<0.05). These resultss show that stress perception level influences dietary habits and oral health behaviors. Thus, there is a need to develop a program in high scholls to promote the physical and mental health of students to relieve stress. Substantial and systematic oral health education is thought to be likely needed to develop desirable dietary habits.

Preoperative Radiotherapy of Maxillary Sinus Cancer (상악동암에서 수술 전 방사선 치료의 효과)

  • Purpose : This study was to evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative radiotherapy in maxillary sinus cancer. Materials and Methods : A retrospective analysis was done for 42 patients with maxillary sinus cancer who were treated with radiation with or without surgery from April 1986 to September 1996. There were 27 male and 15 female patients. Patients' age ranged from 24 to 75 years (median 56 years). Stage distribution showed 2 in T2, 19 in T3, and 21 in T4 lesions The histologic type was squamous cell carcinoma in 38, undifferentiated carcinoma in 1, transitional cell carcinoma in 1, and adenoid cystic carcinoma in 2 patients. All patients were treated with radiation initially with a dosage range of 50.4-70.2 Gy (median 70.2 Gy) before further evaluation of remnant disease. Eleven patients were given induction chemotherapy (2cycles of 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin) concurrently with radiotherapy. Six to eight weeks after radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy computerized tomography (CT) of paranasal sinus was taken to evaluate remnant disease. If the CT finding showed remnant disease, a Caldwell-Luc procedure was done to get the specimen of suspicious lesions. A radical maxillectomy was done if the specimen was proven to contain malignancy. In contrast periodic follow-up examination was done without any radical surgery if the tissue showed only granulation tissue. Follow-up period ranged from 3 to 92 months with a median 16 months. Results : Nine (21.4$\%$) patients showed complete response (CR) and 33 patients (78.6$\%$) showed persistent disease (PER) to initial radiotherapy. Among the 9 CR patients, 7 patients had no evidence of disease (NED), 1 patient had local failure, and 1 patient had regional failure. Among 33 PER patients, salvage total maxillectomy was done in 10 patients, and the surgery was not feasible or refused in 23 patients. Following the salvage radical surgery, 2 patients were NED and 8 patients were PER status. Overall and disease- free survival rate at 5 years was 23.1$\%$ and 16.7$\%$, respectively. The only factors associated with the overall survival rate was the response to radiotherapy (P<0.01). Conclusion : The only factors associated with the overall survival rate was the response to radiotherapy. We could omit a radical mutilating surgery by preoperative irradiation in 7 of 42 patients (21.4$\%$) so as to preserve their facial integrity.

Analysis of Flexural Behavior of Composite Beam with Steel Fiber Reinforced Ultra High Performance Concrete Deck and Inverted-T Shaped Steel with Tension Softening Behavior (인장연화거동을 고려한 강섬유 보강 초고성능 콘크리트 바닥판과 역T형 강재 합성보의 휨거동 해석)

  • Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) has been developed to overcome the low tensile strengths and brittleness of conventional concrete. Considering that UHPC, owing to its composition and the use of steel fibers, develops a compressive strength of 180 MPa as well as high stiffness, the top flange of the steel girder may be superfluous in the composite beam combining a slab made of UHPC and the steel girder. In such composite beam, the steel girder takes the form of an inverted-T shaped structure without top flange in which the studs needed for the composition of the steel girder with the UHPC slab are disposed in the web of the steel girder. This study investigates experimentally and analytically the flexural behavior of this new type of composite beam to propose details like stud spacing and slab thickness for further design recommendations. To that goal, eight composite beams with varying stud spacing and slab thickness were fabricated and tested. The test results indicated that stud spacing running from 100 mm to 2 to 3 times the slab thickness can be recommended. In view of the relative characteristic slip limit of Eurocode-4, the results showed that the composite beam developed ductile behavior. Moreover, except for the members with thin slab and large stud spacing, most of the specimens exhibited results different to those predicted by AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode-4 because of the high performance developed by UHPC.

The influence of implant diameter, length and design changes on implant stability quotient (ISQ) value in artificial bone (임플란트의 직경, 길이 및 디자인변화가 임플란트 안정성지수(ISQ)에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to ascertain the stability of the implant by comparing the effects of the change of implant diameter, length and design on implant stability quotient. Materials and methods: To remove the variable due to the difference of bone quality, the uniform density (0.48 g/$cm^3$) Polyuretane foam blocks (Sawbones$^{(R)}$, Pacific Research Laboratories Inc, Vashon, Washington) were used. Implants (Implantium$^{(R)}$, Dentium, Seoul, Korea) were placed with varying diameters (${\phi}3.8$, ${\phi}4.3$ and ${\phi}4.8$) and length (8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm), to assess the effect on implant stability index (ISQ). Also the influence of the design of the submerged and the non-submerged (SimplelineII$^{(R)}$, Dentium, Seoul, Korea) on ISQ was evaluated. To exclude the influence of insertion torque, a total of 60 implants (n = 10) were placed with same torque to 35 N. Using Osstell$^{TM}$ mentor (Integration Diagnostic AB, Sweden) ISQ values were recorded after measuring the resonant frequency, one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD test results were analyzed. (${\alpha}$=0.05). Results: 1. The change of the diameter of the implant did not affect the ISQ (P>.05), but the increase of implant length increased the ISQ(P<.001). 2. The change in implant design were correlated with the ISQ, and the ISQ of submerged design was significantly higher than that of the non-submerged design(P<.05). Conclusion: In order to increase implant stability, the longer implant is better to be selected, and on the same length of implant, submerged design is thought to be able to get a higher ISQ than the non-submerged.

Sulfur Dioxide, Mineral Contents and Physicochemical Properties Generated during Manufacture of Bamboo Salt (죽염 제조공정에 따른 이산화황, 미네랄 함량 및 이화학적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanisms of behind $SO_2$ formation and elevated cause of reducing power in purple bamboo salt (PBS) along with an analysis of physicochemical properties, content of sulfur compounds, oxidation reduction potential (ORP), mineral contents of salt type (MSS, mudflat solar salt; BS, bamboo salt), and addition of raw bamboo (RB). $SO_2$ content of 630 ppm was detected in PBS. $SO_2$ was not detected in MSS, BS, or RB, whereas $SO_2$ (782 ppm) from $K_2SO_4$ was detected after heating a NaCl, KCl, $MgCl_2$, $MgSO_4$, MgO, $CaCl_2$, $K_2SO_4$, and $FeSO_4$ with RB. $SO_2$ content of BS increased with baking time, and it originated from BSRB1 (13.88 ppm) to BSRB4 (109.13 ppm). $SO_3{^{2-}}$ originated only from MSSRB4 and BSRB2~BSRB4. Sulfate ion content decreased along with increasing $SO_2$ and sulfite ion contents. ORP increased with baking time of MSS and BS, and it was present at higher levels in BSRB4 (-211.40 mV) of BS than MSS. Insoluble content was higher in BS than MSS. Further, Ca, K, and Mg ion contents decreased in MSS and increased in BS with baking time. BSRB4 had 1.4 fold higher levels of Ca, 1.5 fold higher levels of Mg, and 1.8 fold higher levels of K than BS. Li, Al, Mn, Fe, and Sr in MSS as well as Al, Fe, and Ni in BS increased with baking time. Anions (Cl, $NO_3$, and Br) and heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Hg, and As) between MSS and BS were not significantly different. These results suggest that the reducing power of BS was due to $SO_2$ and sulfite ion. To increase the amounts of these compounds and reducing power, higher melting temperature and longer baking time are necessary along with BS, which is created by the addition of RB to roasted salt.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIETARY HABITS AND DENTAL CARIES EXPERIENCE IN PRESCHOOL CHILDREN (어린이의 식이습관과 치아우식발생과의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of the present study was to analyze relationship between dietary habits and dental caries experience in preschool children. All 143 boys and 124 girls living in a chonju city were investigated dmf index by dentists through oral examination and dietary habit by children's mothers through questionaires such as infant diets and food preferences. The statistical analysis were performed to evaluate whether variations in dietary habits are related to dental caries experience. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The average dmf index scores of all children were examined $2.92{\pm}1.05$. The girls had higher than the boys, but no significant differences between the genders were seen the dmf index(P>0.05). 2. The higher were their age of children, the higher dmf index was investigated. The dmf index of 5 and 6-yr old childrens was higher than that in 3 and 4-yr old children(P<0.05). 3. No significant difference was found between the present of mother's occupation (P>0.05) and type of infant dietary habits(P>0.05). 4. The fruits and sea weeds were showed high degree of preference and fats and vegetables were showed low degree generally. Among 13 food groups, there was no significant difference between boys and girls except for sea weeds(P>0.05). 5. Among 13 food groups, the dmf index was positively associated with sugars(r=0.3854, P<0.05), dairy products(r=0.4328, P<0.05) and soft drinks(r=0.2586, P<0.05), and negatively associated with other food groups.

Transmission Dose Estimation Algorithm for in vivo Dosimertry (투과선량을 이용한 생체내 (in vivo) 선량측정을 위한 알고리즘)

  • Purpose : Measurement of transmission dose is useful for in vivo dosimetry of QA purpose. The objective of this study is to develope an algorithm for estimation of tumor dose using measured transmission dose for open radiation field. Materials and Methods : Transmission dose was measured with various field size (FS), phantom thickness (Tp), and phantom chamber distance (PCD) with a acrylic phantom for 6 MV and 10 MV X-ray. Source to chamber distance (SCD) was set to 150 cm. Measurement was conducted with a 0.6 co Farmer type ion chamber. Using measured data and regression analysis, an algorithm was developed lot estimation of expected reading of transmission dose. Accuracy of the algorithm was tested with flat solid phantom with various settings. Results : The algorithm consisted of quadratic function of log(A/P) (where A/P is area-perimeter ratio) and tertiary function of PCD. The algorithm could estimate dose with very high accuracy for open square field, with errors within ${\pm}0.5%$. For elongated radiation field, the errors were limited to ${\pm}1.0%$. Conclusion : The developed algorithm can accurately estimate the transmission dose in open radiation fields with various treatment settings.

Comparison and Analysis between Human Breast Cancer Cells and Hepatoma Cells for the Effects of Xenobiotic Nuclear Receptors (Constitutive Androstane Receptor, Steroid and Xenobiotic Receptor, and Peroxisome-Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ ) on the Transcriptional Activity of Estrogen Receptor (유방암 세포와 간암세포에 있어서 에스트로겐 수용체의 전사조절기능에 대한 Xenobiotic 핵 수용체 (Constitutive Androstane Receptor, Steroid and Xenobiotic Receptor, Peroxisome-Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ )의 영향 비교분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of xenobiotic nuclear receptors, CAR, SXR, and PPAR${\gamma}$ on the transcriptional activity of estrogen receptor in human breast cancer cell lines and compare with those in human hepatoma cell line. Two different breast cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 were cultured and effects of CAR, SXR, and PPAR${\gamma}$ on the ER-mediated transcriptional activation of synthetic (4ERE)-tk-luciferase reporter gene were analyzed. Consistent with the previous report, CAR significantly inhibited ER-mediated transactivation and SXR repressed modestly whereas the PPAR${\gamma}$ did not repress the ER-mediated transactivation. However, in breast cancer cells neither of the xenobiotic receptors repressed the ER-mediated transactivation. Instead, they tend to increase the transactivation depending on the cell type and xenobiotic nuclear receptors. In MCF-7, SXR but neither CAR nor PPAR${\gamma}$ slightly increased ER-mediated transactivation whereas in MDA-MB-231, CAR and PPAR${\gamma}$ but not SXR tend to increase the transactivation of the reporter gene. These results indicate that the effects of ER cross-talk by the CAR, SXR, and PPAR${\gamma}$ , are different in breast cancer cells from hepatoma cells. In conclusion, the transcriptional regulation by estrogen can involve different cross-talk interaction between estrogen receptor and xenobiotic nuclear receptors depending on the estrogen target cells.

Adrenomedullin Deficiency Increases the Susceptibility of Liver Fibrosis Induced by CCl4 (아드레노메둘린 결핍은 사염화탄소로 유도된 간경화 감수성을 상승시킴)

  • Adrenomedullin (AM) is a peptide expressed in all body tissues, and its related receptors are increased in liver fibrosis. In this study, we evaluated the effect of AM deficiency on liver fibrogenesis induced by $CCl_4$ using AM heterozygous (HT) mice. The animals received a single injection of $CCl_4$ or olive oil for the acute experiment, and received $CCl_4$ or olive oil three times a week for 6 weeks for the chronic experiment. Fibrosis was accessed using histopathological analysis and the western blot. The AM HT mice showed mild pericentrilobular degeneration when compared to the AM wild type (WT) mice. In the acute experiment, there was no significant difference between the AM WT and AM HT mice. However, in the chronic experiment, the $CCl_4$-treated AM HT mice showed more severe liver fibrosis than that of the CCl4-treated AM WT mice. The AST and ALT levels of the AM HT $CCl_4$ group were higher than those of the AM WT CCl4 group. Additionally, the collagen deposition, $\alpha$- SMA protein and TGF-$\beta$ protein were increased in the AM HT $CCl_4$ group when compared to the AM WT $CCl_4$ group. The AM HT mice also exhibited severe lipid peroxidation through the GSH decrement. Taken together, our data suggest that AM deficiency increases the susceptibility to liver fibrosis induced by $CCl_4$, indicating a novel therapeutic target for patients with liver fibrosis.
