The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects on the academic achievement and learning motive in mathematics class by use of Cornell-note method at an elementary school. Thus, Cornell-mathematic note is designed for the experiment in order to recognize the effects how the Cornell-note influences students' mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. This experiment was carried out for 13 weeks and the target was 28 students. The group was consisted of 6rd grade students in elementary school located in Busan. To see the effects of Cornell-note method after experiment, post-test was carried out about mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. The results of this study are as follows: There was meaningful difference before and after test about mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. The academic achievement and learning motive in mathematics were improved after Cornell-note applied. Improvement of learning motive caused progress of academic achievement in mathematics class. The Cornell-note way is not appropriate, however, to reinforce mathematical communication ability and to attract students' interest. Therefore, systematic symbol is necessary and consider about adoption of story-telling way.
'I'his study investigated students' attitude toward mathematics. and how behavior/cognitive training affects level of math anxietv and level of math achievement. Subjects were all the freshmen attending Taejon Science High School, and they were given Mathematics Attitudes Scale and Attributional Style Questionnaire prior to and post training sessions. Twenty out of 84 freshmen voluntarily participated in nine sessions of training program. Participants were asked to do self-evaluation. Math achievement was measured prior to and post training. and was compared between two groups. Training program utilized behavior/cognitive approach. such as understanding one's feeling through muscle relaxation, breathing and meditation; modifying negative attributional style; imitating effective cognitive strategies for math problem solving, and so on. 'I'he result shows that students' math confidence in general was relatively low out of expectation, a nd they perceived teachers not supporting their math abilities :IS much as expected. On the other hand, students in general had strong math achievelment needs, and considered math utility very high. Sex difference was seen in the attitude toward female math abilities, to result that female students had more positive perception than male students. Female students of 'I'aejon Science High School seem free from conventional idea about female abilities including theirs. Participants' ~attitude change was compared with non-participants. and participants showed statistically significant change in their math confidence, and also in their math achievement. Participants had much higher math confidence and ~achievement than non-participants. And, they showed increased level of perceiving teachers' expectation. more realistic in needs, and more involvement in math. Math achievement was found positively related to math confidence, and participants' math achievement change was explained by their belief in math utility. Not only training program effect hut also participants' voluntary involvement and teacher\ulcorner' support of the program and participation seem to increase their math achievement. Based upon the result of study it was suggested that behavior-/cognitive training program be provided along with academic curricula for gifted students of Korea to help their emotional and psychological development enhance the efficacy of their cognitive learning.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI) personality type and academic achievement of Korean medical students. A total of 97 (57 men, 40 women; ages 24 to 36) fourth-year Korean medical students participated in this study. The MBTI questionnaire was administered to all the students for identification of their personality type and academic performance. The results are as follows. First, the proportions of Personality type of Korean medical students were Extroversion (E) 33.0% - Introversion (I) 67.0%, Sensing (S) 70.1%- Intuition (N) 29.9%, Thinking (T) 58.8%- Feeling (F) 41.2%, and Judging (J) 54.6% - Perceiving (P) 45.3%. Second, the most common personality type was ISTJ (22.7%), followed by ISTP (13.4%), ISFJ (12.3%). Third, according to the analysis of this study, academic achievement was significantly related with their personality type in the preference : Sensing (S) - Intuition (N) and Judging (J)-Perceiving (P). In analysis of Sensing (S) - Intuition (N) and Judging (J)-Perceiving (P) index, Sensing (S) and Judging (J) type students had higher academic achievement than Intuition (N) and Perceiving (P) type students. This is the study to identify the characteristics of MBTI in Korean Medical students. The findings indicate that academic achievement was significantly related to their personality type in the preference. Using the results of MBTI in Korean medical students, is helpful in selection of appropriate teaching and learning strategies to provide better education.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine what image dental hygiene students had about a dental hygienist during clinical practice and what factors affected their image of dental hygienist. Methods : The subjects in this study were the dental hygiene students at three different colleges. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 427 respondents were analyzed. Results : The dental hygiene students who had engaged in clinical practice had a higher self-esteem than those who hadn't in general(p<0.01). A statistically significantly stronger achievement motivation was found among the dental hygiene students who had engaged in clinical practice than those who hadn't(p<0.01). The dental hygiene students who had engaged in clinical practice had a statistically significantly worse image of a dental hygienist than the others who hadn't(p<0.01). Whether the self-efficacy, self-esteem and achievement motivation of the dental hygiene students had any impact on their image of a dental hygienist was analyzed in consideration of their clinical practice experience. As a result, the dental hygiene students who had engaged in clinical practice had a more positive image of a dental hygienist when they had a higher self-esteem(p<0.05) and a stronger achievement motivation(p<0.001), and those who hadn't engaged in clinical practice had a more positive image of a dental hygienist when they had a higher self-esteem(p<0.01). Conclusions : Given the above-mentioned findings, a wide variety of programs should be developed to bolster the self-esteem and achievement motivation of students and improve their image of a dental hygienist, as self-esteem and achievement motivation are the variables that exert the largest influence on one's image of a dental hygienist.

This paper investigates the determinants of students' success in Vietnam through conducting online interviews and surveys with 2,500 Vietnamese students at eight famous universities in Vietnam. By applying both SPSS 22 and STATA software, the study is to evaluate the impact of four driver factors, which affect GPA, language efficacy, and personal achievement. These factors are psychological perspective, home environmental, student demographic, and school environmental. The research results emphasize a positive effect of psychological and home-environmental determinants, but the negative effect of school environmental factors on the students' success. Besides, the relationship between demographics and student success was tested and indicated that male students have a better language learning ability, but a low level of academic achievement than female students. The results also point out the impact of religious affiliation and ethnicity on personal achievement. Non-religious students are better achievers than those having a religion or those in minority ethnicity. Moreover, accumulated schooling years are negatively associated with students' success. The more working experience students accrued, the higher possibility they are successful. Finally, the finding provides an insight into students' success that might be useful to government authorities and other universities in designing policies for enhancing the quality of education.
