Purpose: this study was carried out to identify family environmental factors related to changes in sexual attitudes through a sexuality education based on correct sexual attitude for middle school students. Methods: The subjects were 141 students (67 boys and 74 girls) in 4 classes of the first grade of a coeducational middle school, in Seoul. The school nurse provided the sexuality education for 18 hours over 16 weeks. Results: After the sexuality education, there was a significant increase in sexual attitude(t=59.06, p<.001). For family environmental factors related to changes in sexual attitude,'relationship with parents' was a significant factor for both boys and girls. For the girls, there were many other related factors such as 'parents' openness', 'family structure', and 'economic status'. Significant factors were 'Family structure' for attitude to abortion and 'parents' openness' for attitude to intercourse before marriage. Conclusions: Based on these results, systematic sexuality education is needed to enhance correct sexual attitudes in youth. To increase the effect of sexuality education, it should include contents to improve relationships with patents. Also, for parents, programs to improve relationships with their children and to change the values such as openness may also be required.
Primary function of health record is that as tool of communication between the health processionals with the mutual goal, the promotion of health care standard. Studies have been carried out world over oil tile subject, among those, Weed's Problem-Oriented Health Record is considered a paramount achievement. This study was designed to assess tile possibility of implementing tile problem-oriented health record system through ail experiment in order to provide data for nurse administrators infiltrating reformation of recording system and format. Record of 29 patients admitted at Korea University Hospital, Seoul, from March through June, 1976 for 4 to 14 days were sampled. Nursing notes were recorded by research assistants; senior nursing student trailed extensively by the researcher oil Problem-Oriented Records, oil Problem Oriented Nursing Record format (experimental group) and analysis were carried out comparative, with that of traditional nursing records noted by other nursing personnel (control group) on the same patient. Attitude towards Problem Oriented Nursing Record system and format were attained through questionaries responded by the 51 research assistants. Results are as fellows: Comparative analysis revealed that: 1. Assessment of patients' health problems recorded significantly more in traditional records. 2. Focus of health Problem differed; traditional records slowed significantly higher frequency in medical and procedure as focus while problem oriented records on nursing focus problems. 3. Problem- Oriented records were better organized, Mean value scores of attitude towards Problem- Oriented Records revealed that: Positive value scores on all 4 categories: 1) Assessment of nursing needs, 2) Nursing care planning 3) Patient progress assessment and 4) Tool of teaching and learning revealed that the Problem-Oriented Nursing Record is positively accepted by tile respondents. Recommendation Further experiments on implementation of Problem- Oriented Health Record are recommended: experiment involving all health professionals, in larger scope and longitudinal.
This study was conducted with 512 students in 4 primary schools located at the inner and the outskirt of K city, Northern Kyungsang Province from November 6, 2001 to November 27, 2001(during 3 weeks). This study was a research about the difference of a bullying degree and tendency of both teasing and teased students. The purpose of the study was to help nursing teachers in charge of student consultation and treatment. The findings are as follows: First, for to whom students confess their worries, students in lower grade talked to their parents while students in higher grade talked to their close friends. The higher grader, the higher rate in solving their problems by themselves. For how many students are teased by their peers in groups, 52.0% students answered 1 or 2 students in a class. For the reasons of bully, 37.0% higher graders answered, very selfish and putting on airs after 29.6% lower graders answered, ugly and bad at speaking. Second, for perception of peer relation, 81.3% students participating in the study answered, very important. For a question whether students satisfy present relation with their friends by gender, 53.7% boys were satisfied while 34.6% girls were satisfied. Third, for difference in bullying by gender, boys mainly teased others by using words and physical power(p<0.000) while girls estranged others. When it goes to teased students, it was the case: boys were bullied physically(p<0.000) and linguistically while girls were hurt by estrangement. Having nothing direct to do with school achievement, nursing teacher should make good use of such an advantage that students tend to easily confess their worries to them and take care of psychological aspects of students in treatment. Furthermore, it needs to include contents of bully in the regular heath care education.
This study examined mothers' perceptions on nutrition education for elementary school students according to demographical factors. Questionnaires were distributed to the mothers of 511 elementary school students in the Busan area. According to the results, 50% of the respondents felt that the preschool years or the lower elementary grades were proper times to start nutrition education. Furthermore, they preferred school dietitians (55.4%), outside professional dietitians (16.3%), nurse teachers (13.8%), class room teachers (11.7%), and parents (2.8%) as nutrition educators. The mothers who were college and university graduates had significantly (p<0.001) higher scores regarding the necessity of nutrition education for student growth when compared to mothers who were high schools graduates. However, the high school graduates had significantly (p<0.001) higher scores than the college and university graduates with respect to nutrition education for correcting obesity. The order of importance for nutrition education curriculum content was as follows: eating habits, food safety, health and disease, maintaining ideal body weight, food waste and environment, basic food knowledge, and traditional foods. The college and university graduates, and those of 'A' group schools, had significantly (p<0.001) higher importance scores for proper eating habits. Mothers having experience with nutrition education comprised 43.9% of the subjects, and there was a significantly (p<0.05) higher percentage of employed mothers as compared to unemployed. Eighty-six percent of the respondents wanted to receive nutrition education. For more effective learning, they preferred in-person group education rather than correspondence education using e-mails or printed materials from schools.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine changes of empathy levels of nursing student in two different curricula structures, one called "traditional" and the other called "integrated" curricula. The study was a longitudinal design to follow a cohort of nursing students to examine the magnitude of changes in empathy in their education years. Methods: The study was conducted in a public school of nursing giving a baccalaureate degree, which had a fundamental change in their curricula. In all, 81 students from the traditional curricula and 66 students from the integrated curricula completed the study, and data from a total of 147 students were analyzed between 2003 and 2008. The Empathic Communication Skills Scale and the Empathic Tendency Scale were given to the students in the beginning of their freshman year and at the end of the fourth year just before graduation. Results: Although both of the curricula were seemed effective at improving empathic skills of students, especially the scores of students who completed the integrated curricula were higher than the scores of the other group attending the traditional curricula (p<.05). However, the empathic tendency scores of students in both curricula decreased at the end of fourth year. Conclusion: Although undergraduate nursing curricula either traditional or integrated improved empathic skills, it seemed that integrated curricula were more effective than traditional curricula in increasing empathic skills. The more hours and more experiential methods contributed to improved empathy. The decrease in empathic tendency requires further attention of educators and nurse managers.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to identify predictors of drug calculation competence of nursing students. Methods: A total of 120 students were recruited from 3 universities from November 10 to 20, 2011. The instruments for this study were drug calculation competence, self-efficacy for drug dosage calculation, anxiety for drug dosage calculation, and the academic self-efficacy scale. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, chi-square test, t-test, Scheffe test, partial correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The mean score of good competence group was $0.67{\pm}0.08$ and the mean score of no-good competence group was $0.42{\pm}0.10$. The drug calculation competence was positively related to self-efficacy for drug dosage calculation and academic self-efficacy scale, but negatively related to anxiety for drug dosage calculation after controlling personal attributes. The main predictors of drug calculation competence in nursing students were identified as anxiety for drug dosage calculation (${\beta}$=-.25, p=.046), academic self-efficacy (${\beta}$=.19, p=.035). These two factors explained about 10% of variance in drug calculation competence. Conclusion: Based on the results, the strategies reducing the anxiety for drug dosage calculation and improving the academic self-efficacy should be developed and implemented.

This study was aimed to investigate disaster preparedness, core competencies and educational needs on disaster nursing of nursing students and to provide basic data needed for development of disaster nursing educational program. 254 nursing students enrolled in 3 college of nursing in D-city completed questionnaires. The data were collected from November 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014. The average level of core competencies on disaster nursing was 2.76 out of 5 points, which was moderate for the core competencies on disaster nursing. Disaster preparedness was 2.14 out of 5 points, suggesting that they are generally not well prepared for disaster. Factors affecting core competencies on disaster nursing were disaster preparedness, educational needs, grade, and experience of disaster education. It is necessary to develop disaster nursing educational program to reflect the needs of the field in Korea. And Nurse educator needs to develop strategies to prepare their students for disasters. Further research is needed to adequately address this issue.
This study is a descriptive research study to identify differences in awareness and practice of emerging infectious diseases, ethical awareness, ethical decision-making, and the effect on ethical decision-making among nurses and nursing students. 179 data were collected for nursing students and nurses in K city from August 20 to September 10, 2020. As a result of the study, there was a statistically significant difference between nursing students and nurses only in decision-making related to the principle of justice among ethical decision-making, and it was found that ethical education experience (𝛽=0.18, p=.013) influenced ethical decision-making. Based on the research results, it is suggested to develop a simulation-centered convergent ethics education program to improve ethical decision-making and provide regular education.
The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of empathy and communication skill on clinical stress of college students in the convergence society. The participants were 211 college students, data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, Multiple regression. It was found that: nursing students showed higher clinical stress in case of lower level of school satisfaction, major satisfaction, clinical satisfaction, the difficult of relationship with head nurse, and female student. Significant negative correlation were found between communication skill and clinical stress. The factors influencing clinical stress were clinical satisfaction, communication skill and gender. In order to reduce clinical stress among nursing students, it is needed to find various ways improving communication skills, such as educational courses and intervention, and to figure out associate variables and multilateral research to enhance clinical satisfaction.
The purpose of this study is to confirm the effects of the contents of the recording lectures through the automatic recording system of the nursing students on the program outcomes of the pediatric nursing. The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. the subject of this study consisted of 104 nursing students(the experimental group of 52 and the control group of 52). Data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ test and independent t-test using SPSS 22.0. The effect of the first program outcome(PO1. We can integrate nursing skills based on various the liberal arts and the major knowledge into practice) of the experimental group was not confirmed, but the fifth program outcome(PO5. We can apply critical thinking based nursing processes and implement clinical inferences) was significantly higher than that of the control group. It is significant that this study presented the data to develop the class design method to improve the program outcomes of the nursing student at the present time which is operating the program outcomes based curriculum for nurse with core competency.
