Prostate apoptosis response-4 (Par-4) was originally identified in androgen-independent prostate cancer cells undergoing apoptosis. Par-4 is ubiquitously expressed in normal cells and tissues, but it is downregulated in several types of cancers. Par-4 is a 38 kDa tumor suppressor protein encoded by the PARW gene. Par-4 promotes apoptosis in a variety of cancerous cells, but not in normal cells. In this review, we focused on the structure, expression and function of Par-4 in apoptotic signaling pathway. Functional domains of Par-4 include two nuclear localization sequences (NLS), a leucine zipper (LZ) domain, a nuclear export sequence (NES) and selective for apoptosis in cancer cell (SAC) domain. Many studies have underlined the importance of Par-4 in preventing cancer development. The activity of Par-4 is differently regulated by localization of intracellular and extracellular Par-4. Intracellular Par-4 inhibits Akt- and NF-κB-mediated cell survival pathways and downregulates Bcl-2 expression. Extracellular Par-4 activates the extrinsic apoptotic pathway by binding to cell surface receptor GRP78, a stress response protein that is in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Endogenous Par-4 sensitizes cancer cells to various apoptotic stimuli, while exogenous Par-4 enhances SAC domain-dependent apoptosis in cancer cells, but not normal cells. Therefore, Par-4 is an attractive target for cancer therapy.

In the arctic offshore regions, massive offshore gravity platforms are recommended to be construced because of severe environments. In such structures which is so large that its characteristic length is of the order of the wave length, wave-structure interaction problem has been solved using linear diffraction theory. Structural analysis of the large scale offshore structures requires wave force distribution along depth and wave pressure distribution on the body surface. In this study, existing computer program which calculates the total wave force acting on axisymmetric bodies has been modified to calculate wave force distribution along depth and wave pressure distribution on the body surface. Numerical results of pressure distribution for a fixed vertical cylinder obtained from this analysis has been compared with the results of an analytic solution of MacCamy-Fuchs, and good agreements has been obtained. It is desirable to use 6 in the case of analytic solution, and 5 in the case of numerical solution as the Fourier Mode of Green function. The results in this study are expected to be utilized for structural analysis such as pseudo-static analysis, dynamic analysis and fatigue analysis.
The practice of asphalt pavement recycling has grown rapidly over the decade, one of which is the cold in-place recycling with the foamed asphalt (CIR-foam) or the emulsified asphalt (CIR-emulsion). Particularly, in Iowa, the CIR has been widely used in rehabilitating the rural highways because it significantly increases the service life of the existing pavement. The CIR layer is typically overlaid by the hot mix asphalt (HMA) to protect it from water ingress and traffic load and obtain the required pavement structure and texture. Most public agencies have different curing requirements based on the number of curing days or the maximum moisture contents for the CIR before placing the overlay. The main objective of this study is to develop a moisture loss index that the public agency can use to monitor the moisture content of CIR layers in preparation for a timely placement of the wearing surface. First, the moisture contents were measured in the field using a portable time domain reflectometry (TDR) device. Second, the weather information in terms of rain fall, air temperature, humidity and wind speed was collected from the same location. Finally, a moisture loss index was developed as a function of initial moisture content, air temperature, humidity and wind speed. The developed moisture loss index based on the field measurements would help the public agency to determine an optimum timing of an overlay placement without continually measuring moisture conditions in the field.
$\textrm{Zn}_{2-x}\textrm{Mn}_{x}\textrm{SiO}_{4}$ green phosphors have been prepared by the solution reaction method and the photoluminescence and crystalline properties were studied as a function of both the firing temperature ($900^{\circ}C$~$1200^{\circ}C$) and the concentration of Mn activator (x=0.01~0.20). Under 147 nm and 254nm and excitation sources, the emission intensity of the phosphors was increased about 4 times increasing firing temperatures from $900^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$. From the XRD analysis, $\textrm{Zn}_{2}\textrm{SiO}_{4}$:Mn phosphors fired above $1100^{\circ}C$ showed willemite crystal structure. Under 147nm excitation, the maximum emission intensity was obtained at the Mn concentration of x=0.02 for $\textrm{Zn}_{2-x}\textrm{Mn}_{x}\textrm{SiO}_{4}$ phosphors fired at $1200^{\circ}C$ and the concentration quenching was occurred at the Mn concentration above x=0.10. The phosphor particles showed almost spherical shapes with the average size of around 2~3$\mu\textrm{m}$ by the SEM morphology.
Under the WTO system, direct export support system that provides financial and tax related support is altogether prohibited. This presented an obstacle in strengthening competitiveness of Korean export business and in increasing exports continuously. One of the methods used to solve this problem was to actively leverage export insurance. In Korea, export insurance services have been conducted by the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (k-sure) to promote export. Korea has been among the world's active users of the export insurance system. Given this situation, this paper examines the effectiveness of the Korea export insurance system in the promotion of export. In particular, this study analyzed about discriminating effects of the export insurance on the export of big and small-medium business. In order to analyze, We introduce a Export Supply Function model. In this paper, We construct two model. The one is about big business, the other is small-medium business. For empirical analysis, unit-root test was conducted to understand the safety of time series. The results show that all variables are not I(0) time series. Instead, they are I(1) time series. To this, cointegration verification was conducted based on the use of Johansen verification method to define the existence (or non-existence) of long-term balance relationship among variables. The results come out as follows. The export insurance of big business has a stronger effect on export than that of small-medium business. The cause of these results is due to the distinct structure of Korea industries. In view of the fact that the insurance can make the risk decreased. We can say that the export insurance affects the export of a high-risk country.
This study is a case study of the research study and education with high school students of natural sciences. Recent development of the Internet of Things (IoT) based on the subject of various studies exist. This study is one of the most portable communication devices of these infancy, yet students were easy to define the molding process of contacting a pager that can go along way in making research topics. We called a pager. Today, it is given a large and complex smart mobile communication devices that can be used for big data. Prior pagers are taught the meaning of the first mobile communication means in our lives were given device. The internal structure is relatively simple and is thought to function relatively simple, just suitable as a teaching practices of high school students with an interest in science and engineering universities. This study can see all of the mechanical, electronic information contents of the radio pager in a relatively simple analysis of the injection molding ONE CAVITY analysis. Furthermore, the students also rated good educational practices that give meaning to remind the convergence training on mass production and process automation.
A thousands of chairs have designed from the Victorian era to the present. Thonet's Nol4 chair in 1859, Wright's high-back chair in 1904, Ritveld's red/blue chair in 1917, Breuer's Wassily chair in 1925, Aalto's Paimio chair in 1932, Eames's DAR chair in 1948, Piero Gatti's Sacco chair in 1969, Starck's Von Volgelsang chair in 1984, Stumpf's Aeron Chair in 1992, Little's 'Coat of arms' chair in 1994 - the list of architects who have seized the opportunity to express their theories in the design of a chair is seemingly endless. Architects such as Machintosh(1868-1928), Wright(1807-1959), Aalto(1898-1976) included chairs within their artistic schemes for interiors and buildings. But as the manufacture of chairs moved away from the domain of the craftsman towards that of the industrial process, architects were also ideally positioned, with their background knowledge of engineering, to pioneer innovative chair design within the constraints of modern manufacturing technology. Beyond matters of function and structure, the fundamental worth of chairs, past or present, lies in their communication of attitudes, ideas and values. The persuasiveness of a chair depend on the clarity of its rhetoric. Chair has become an ideal medium for designers to make their visual statements and construct their individual manifestos. In chair design there is a ping-pong game played out between absurd and useful design, and this game is one way in which the design profession explores itself.
Acoustic characteristics of water sediment were experimentally studied in laboratory. Water saturated sand sediment less than the grain size of 0.5 mm diameter is uniformly distributed in an acryl box (100 mm×100mm×42mm) with material thickness 1 mm. Pores in the acryl box are modeled as the structure of cylindrical pore tubes (diameter 3 mm and length 42 mm) filled with water. Cylindrical pore tubes have porosities 0%, 5%, 11%, 18% and 26 % controlled by the tube numbers. Transmitted acoustic waves through sand sediment specimen are analyzed as the functions of porosity and frequency from 0.3 MHz to 4 MHz. Transmitted acoustic waves are mixed with the first-kind wave from whole specimen and the second-kind wane from cylindrical pore tubes. For the center frequency 1 MHz, the first kind wave is dominant but for the center frequency 2.25 MHz, the second kind wave is dominant. In the case of the first-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient decreases and the sound speed decreases to the sound speed of water. As the frequency increases, the transmission coefficient decreases but the sound speed is almost constant. In the case of the second-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient increases but the sound speed is almost constant. The transmission coefficient and the sound speed are almost constant as a function of frequency.
As embedded system becomes more complex, software development becomes more important in the entire design process. Most embedded applications consist of multi -tasks, that are executed in parallel. So, dataflow model that expresses concurrency naturally is preferred than sequential programming language to develop multitask software. For the execution of multitasking codes, operating system is essential to schedule multi-tasks and to deal with the communication between tasks. But, it is needed to execute multitasking code without as when the target hardware platform cannot execute as or target platforms are candidates of design space exploration, because it is very costly to port as for all candidate platforms of DSE. For this reason, we propose the serialized multitasking code generation technique from dataflow specification. In the proposed technique, a task is specified with dataflow model, and generated as a C code. Code generation consists of two steps: First, a block in a task is generated as a separate function. Second, generated functions are scheduled by a multitasking scheduler that is also generated automatically. To make it easy to write customized scheduler manually, the data structure and information of each task are defined. With the preliminary experiment of DivX player, it is confirmed that the generated code from the proposed framework is efficiently and correctly executed on the target system.
The purpose of this study is to consider the interaction between surface water and groundwater in basin scale by developing TANK_GS model. The soil moisture structure of tank model with 3 tanks is improved to simulate the appropriate stream-aquifer interactions. Maximum likelihood method is applied to calibrate parameters with variance functions to deal with heteroscedasticity of residuals. The parameters of improved TANK_GS model and variance function are simultaneously estimated by Simulated Annealing method, a global optimization technique. The results of TANK-GE are compared to those of the SWMM-GE model which had been developed to consider the stream-aquifer interactions. The new TANK_GS model and SWMM-GE model are applied to Gapcheon basin, which belongs to Geum River basin. TANK_GS model showed better model performance compared to the original TANK model and characterized the relationship of stream-aquifer interactions as satisfactorily as the SWMM-GE model. The sustainable groundwater yield can be estimated for the regional water resources planning using the TANK_GS model
