One of the leading causes for the damage of various underground structures during an earthquake is soil liquefaction, and among this liquefaction-induced uplift of these structures is a major concern. In this study, finite-difference modelling is carried out to study the liquefaction-induced uplift of an underground structure of 5 m diameter (D) with and without the replacement of the in-situ fine sand around the structure with the coarse sand. Soil replacements are carried out by three methods: replacement of soil above the structure, around the structure, and below the structure. The soil behaviour is represented using the elastic-perfectly plastic Mohr-Coulomb model, where the pore pressures were computed using Finn-Byrne formulation. The predicted pore pressure and uplift of the structure due to sinusoidal input motion were validated with the centrifuge tests reported in the literature. Based on numerical studies, an empirical equation is developed for the determination of liquefaction-induced maximum uplift of the underground structure without replacement of the in-situ sand. It is found that the replacement of soil around the structure with 2D width and spacing of D can reduce the maximum uplift by 50%.
This study proposes a Bayesian dynamic model in a hierarchical way to assess the time-varying effect of risk factors on the likelihood of corporate bankruptcy. For the longitudinal data, we aim to describe dynamically evolving effects of covariates more articulately compared to the Generalized Estimating Equation approach. In the analysis, it is shown that the proposed model outperforms in terms of sensitivity and specificity. Besides, the usefulness of this study can be found from the flexibility in describing the dependence structure among time specific parameters and suitability for assessing the time effect of risk factors.

A unified elastic-viscoplastic ocnstitutive model based on dislocation density considerations is described. A combination of a kinetic equation, which describes the mechanical response of a material at a given microstructure in terms of dislocation glide and evolution equations for internal variables characterizing the microstructure provide the constitutive equations of the Model. Microstructural features of the material, such as the grain size, spacing between second phase particles etc., are directly implemented in the constitutive equations. The internal variables are associated with the total dislocation density in the simple version of the model. The model has a modular structure and can be adjusted to describe a particular type of metal forming processes.

Under the rapid change of business circumstance to E-business, CRM is one of the major strategic choices to reinforce the relationship with customers. In this point, this study attempts to understand the relationships among the quality of CRM and the variables of post adoption on the innovation diffusion theory. With integration of information system success model and innovation diffusion theory, it developed a research model and several hypotheses focusing on CRM performance of post-adoption. To testify the hypotheses, it conducted a survey on insurance industry and performed a statistical analysis for the research model with structure equation model. The results show that the factors of CRM quality (system, service, and information) have significant relationships with level of CRM usage and satisfaction. And the relationships between satisfaction and CRM performance and between CRM performance and intension of CRM extension are found as statistically significant.

This study showed that numerical simulation can be effectively used to analyze discharge capacity according to the form and arrangement of the lock gate of a tidal power plant. For the numerical simulation, FLOW-3D with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation as a governing equation was used. This study found that improvement of apron length and approach angle of guide wall of the lock gate causes differences in discharge capacity of $10\%$ or more. In addition, there was a difference of discharge capacity caused by the connecting structures of the drainage gate and hydraulic turbine structure and the side slope at the end of apron. This study also showed that hydraulic investigation to enhance a discharge capacity is needed when the lock gate is designed and that numerical model experiments can be a useful analysis tool to design the drainage structure, as well as the hydraulic model experiment.
The purpose of this paper was to understand the dynamics of deployment of large mesh antennas, and to provide a numerical method for determining the dynamic stiffness and the driving forces for the design. The deployment structure was numerically modeled using the frame elements. The eigenvalue analysis was demonstrated, with respect to the folded and unfolded configurations of the antenna. A multibody dynamic model was formulated with Kane's equation, and simulated using the pseudo upper triangular decomposition (PUTD) method for resolving the constrained problem. Based on the multibody model, the kinetics of the deployment, the motor driving forces, and the feasibility of the designed deployment structure were investigated.
Purpose: Present study was designed to examine the casual relationships among tourism information service quality, value, user satisfaction, and reuse intention in social network service(SNS). Also, we intended to testify the mediating role of value in causal model. We applied path analysis model in order to test the hypotheses and research model. Methods: Survey tool, that is, questionnaire has obtained validity through literature survey, exploratory survey and pretest and sample 272 was selected. For statistical treatment of pretest and main analysis, SPSS18.0 and AMOS18.0 were employed and structural equation model was employed as analysis method. Results: Result of this study shows as follows. Two factors(ease of understanding and structure) have an effect on user satisfaction and reuse intention, and we found that value played a significant and important role in causal relationship. Therefore, value was empirically confirmed as t he import ant fact or preceding user satisfaction and reuse intention. Conclusion: Present study shows that two factors(ease of understanding and structure) in via of value, were important factors that related business companies have to emphasize to raise performance. However, present study has some limitations to additionally research in the future.
In this paper, the vibroacoustic responses of baffled laminated composite sandwich flat panel structure under the influence of harmonic excitation are studied numerically using a novel higher-order coupled finite-boundary element model. A numerical scheme for the vibrating plate has been developed in the frame work of the higher-order mid-plane kinematics and the eigen frequencies are obtained by employing suitable finite element steps. The acoustic responses are then computed by solving the Helmholtz wave equation using boundary element method coupled with the structural finite elements. The proposed scheme has been implemented via an own MATLAB base code to compute the desired responses. The validity of the present model is established from the conformance of the current natural frequencies and the radiated sound power with the available benchmark solutions. The model is further utilized to scrutinize the influence of core-to-face thickness ratio, modular ratio, lamination scheme and the support condition on the sound radiation characteristics of the vibrating sandwich flats panel. It can be concluded that the present scheme is not only accurate but also efficient and simple in providing solutions of the coupled vibroacoustic response of laminated composite sandwich plates.
This research article reported the nonlinear finite solutions of the nonlinear flexural strength and stress behaviour of nano sandwich graded structural shell panel under the combined thermomechanical loading. The nanotube sandwich structural model is derived mathematically using the higher-order displacement polynomial including the full geometrical nonlinear strain-displacement equations via Green-Lagrange relations. The face sheets of the sandwich panel are assumed to be carbon nanotube-reinforced polymer composite with temperature dependent material properties. Additionally, the numerical model included different types of nanotube distribution patterns for the sandwich face sheets for the sake of variable strength. The required equilibrium equation of the graded carbon nanotube sandwich structural panel is derived by minimizing the total potential energy expression. The energy expression is further solved to obtain the deflection values (linear and nonlinear) via the direct iterative method in conjunction with finite element steps. A computer code is prepared (MATLAB environment) based on the current higher-order nonlinear model for the numerical analysis purpose. The stability of the numerical solution and the validity are verified by comparing the published deflection and stress values. Finally, the nonlinear model is utilized to explore the deflection and the stresses of the nanotube-reinforced (volume fraction and distribution patterns of carbon nanotube) sandwich structure (different core to face thickness ratios) for the variable type of structural parameter (thickness ratio, aspect ratio, geometrical configurations, constraints at the edges and curvature ratio) and unlike temperature loading.

In this study, an analytical model of micro-beam structure including thermoelastic damping with irregularly distributed masses is investigated. The significance of thermoelastic damping for micro-scale mechanical resonators is evaluated to design -with high quality factor(Q-factor). The beam model of this work is based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. In order to determine the natural frequency of the model, energy method is applied. Also, the thermoelatic damping effects are considered by using heat conduction equations, and the Q-factor can be determined. To derive the equation of motion, non-dimensionalization is employed for systematic analysis. Results of the model are verified, and present mode shapes and Q-factors for the micro-beam with thermoelastic damping including random point masses.
