선박용 유압 조타 시스템의 구조적 안전성 평가 (Structural Safety Evaluation of Hydraulic Steering System for Ship)

  • The optimal shape modeling of core parts through 3D modeling and structural analysis for the development of small and medium-sized ships. The goal is to improve the efficient structure of the hydraulic system for controlling the rudder among the core steering parts in small and medium-sized ships. Through 3D modeling and structural analysis, a new concept of tiller parts and a double-acting hydraulic cylinder control system were proposed and operational structural stability was evaluated. Structural analysis of the three different tiller designs that can be replaceable onto existing fishing vessels was conducted to derive the final shapes. The emphasis was placed on evaluating the structural stability of the key drive components, the tiller, pin, and cylinder rodin the maximum torque condition of the hydraulic cylinder.

초고층 건물의 시공 중 안정성 검토를 위한 시공단계해석 (Construction Sequence Analysis for Checking Stability in High-Rise Building under Construction)

  • Due to recent trends of the atypical plan shapes and the zoning construction in high-rise buildings, the building stability under construction is arising as an important issue for design and construction plan. To ensure the stability under construction, the differential column shortening and the lateral movements with unbalanced distributions of self-weight of structure members and the load flows before completion of member connections and lateral load resisting system should be checked by construction sequence analysis. This paper presents the scheme of zone-based construction sequence analysis, to check the stability of high-rise building under construction. This scheme is applied to the construction sequence analysis for real high-rise building under construction.

The effect of surface charge balance on thermodynamic stability and kinetics of refolding of firefly luciferase

  • Thermodynamic stability and refolding kinetics of firefly luciferase and three representative mutants with depletion of negative charge on a flexible loop via substitution of Glu by Arg (ER mutant) or Lys (EK mutant) as well as insertion of another Arg in ER mutants (ERR mutant) was investigated. According to thermodynamic studies, structural stability of ERR and ER mutants are enhanced compared to WT protein, whereas, these mutants become prone to aggregation at higher temperatures. Accordingly, it was concluded that enhanced structural stability of mutants depends on more compactness of folded state, whereas aggregation at higher temperatures in mutants is due to weakening of intermolecular repulsive electrostatic interactions and increase of intermolecular hydrophobic interactions. Kinetic results indicate that early events of protein folding are accelerated in mutants.

Investigation on the wind-induced instability of long-span suspension bridges with 3D cable system

  • The cable system is generally considered to be a structural solution to increase the spanning capacity of suspension bridges. In this work, based on the Runyang Bridge over the Yangtze River, three case suspension bridges with different 3D cable systems are designed, structural dynamic characteristics, the aerostatic and aerodynamic stability are investigated numerically by 3D nonlinear aerostatic and aerodynamic analysis, and the cable system favorable to improve the wind-induced instability of long-span suspension bridges is also proposed. The results show that as compared to the example bridge with parallel cable system, the suspension bridge with inward-inclined cable system has greater lateral bending and tensional frequencies, and also better aerodynamic stability; as for the suspension bridge with outward-inclined cable system, it has less lateral bending and tensional frequencies, and but better aerostatic stability; however the suspension bridge is more prone to aerodynamic instability, and therefore considering the whole wind-induced instability, the parallel and inward-inclined cable systems are both favorable for long-span suspension bridges.

유체유동 회전 외팔파이프의 안정성에 미치는 끝단질량의 영향 (Stability Analysis of Cracked cantilever beam Subjected to Follower force)

  • In this paper the vibration system is consisted of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid and a tip mass. The equation of motion is derived applying a modeling method that employs hybrid deformation variables. 'TI1e influences of the rotating angular velocity, mass ratio and the velocity of fluid flow on the stability of a cantilever pipe are studied by the numerical method. The effect of tip mass on the stability of a rotating cantilever pipe are also studied. The influences of a tip mass, the velocity of fluid the angular velocity of a cantilever pipe and the coupling of these factors on the stability of a cantilever pipe are analytically clarified.

  • Safety valve used in LNG/LNG-FPSO ships is a high value valve, and it plays an important role in maintaining a fixed level of pressure by emitting LNG gas out of pipes in LNG piping system under the cryogenic and high-pressure condition when the pressure of the system connected with the LNG storage tank and pipes reaches over the set pressure. The structural stability is required for the inner pressure and thermal load because of the cryogenic and high-pressure condition, and a reliability of the safety valve is necessary for impact and deformation by opening the valve. But, the safety valve, which plays a key role for a safety of the transport and storage system, is depended on imports for over 90%, and in domestic production, the design of the valve is performed on the basis of experiences of the works without quantitative analysis for the inner operation characteristics and structural stability of the valve. In this study, impact velocity is calculated by theoretical analysis for obtaining the structural stability of the guide according to the impact load by opening the valve. The shape of the guide and the diaphragm for satisfying the structural stability are suggested and verified by using a thermal-structural analysis.

층상구조 망간산화물에서의 구조적 안정도와 결정성과의 관계 (Relationship between Structural Stability and Crystallinity in Layered Manganese Oxide)

  • 층상구조를 갖는 망간산화물에서 결정성과 구조적 안정도 간의 관계에 대해 조사하였다. 좋은 결정성을 갖는 망간산화물은 고상합성법-이온교환법을 이용하여 합성하였으며, 나노결정 망간산화물은 실온에서의 Chimie-Douce 반응을 통해 얻어졌다. 마이크로 라만 분광과 X선 흡수분광 결과는 결정성에 상관없이 이들 화합물에 존재하는 망간이온이 공통적으로 층상구조의 팔면체 자리에 안정화되어 있음을 보여준다. 미분전하용량 분석 결과는 나노결정 화합물의 층상구조가 전기화학적 충방전 과정 동안 안정하다는 사실을 보여주며, 이와는 대조적으로 좋은 결정성을 갖는 층상구조 화합물의 경우 현저한 구조변화를 겪는다는 사실을 보여준다. 마이크로 라만 분광 결과는 이러한 구조전이가 층상 구조로부터 스핀넬 타입 구조로의 변화에 해당함을 보여준다. 위 실험 결과로부터 나노결정성이 층상구조의 안정도를 향상시킨다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다.

건축용 내화강재(FR 490) 적용 H형강 보부재의 고온내력 연구 (Study of Structural Stability for H-section Beams Made of Fire Resistant Steels (FR 490) at High Temperatures by Analytical Method)

  • 구조용 강재는 고온 시 물질 내부의 구성 물질의 결합력 약화로 인하여 내력과 변형이 추가적으로 발생됨으로써, 구조적 성능이 저하되고, 국부 및 연속적 붕괴로 이어질 수 있다. 따라서 강재로 구성된 구조부재는 화재 시 열영향부를 최소화하기 위한 수단이 강구되는 내화설계가 요구된다. 건축용 내화강재(FR 490)는 용접 구조용 강재(SM 490)와 상온시 특성은 동일하나, 고온 시의 내력유지 성능이 우수한 강종으로써 이로 구성된 보부재의 고온 시 내력 평가 자료는 거의 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 FR 490강재로 구성된 보부재의 고온 시 거동을 고온 시 재료 특성과 이론적 방법을 통하여 해석적으로 평가하고, 이를 SM 490강재보와 비교함으로써 내화성능을 확인하고자 하였으며, 그 결과 FR 490강재보의 경우 SM 490강재보에 비해서 고온 시 내력유지 성능이 우수하였다.

An elasto-plastic damage constitutive model for jointed rock mass with an application

  • A forked tunnel, as a special complicated underground structure, is composed of big-arch tunnel, multi-arch tunnel, neighborhood tunnels and separate tunnels according to the different distances between two separate tunnels. Due to the complicated process of design and construction, surrounding jointed rock mass stability of the big-arch tunnel which belongs to the forked tunnel during excavation is a hot issue that needs special attentions. In this paper, an elasto-plastic damage constitutive model for jointed rock mass is proposed based on the coupling method considering elasto-plastic and damage theories, and the irreversible thermodynamics theory. Based on this elasto-plastic damage constitutive model, a three dimensional elasto-plastic damage finite element code (D-FEM) is implemented using Visual Fortran language, which can numerically simulate the whole excavation process of underground project and perform the structural stability of the surrounding rock mass. Comparing with a popular commercial computer code, three dimensional fast Lagrangian analysis of continua (FLAC3D), this D-FEM has advantages in terms of rapid computing process, element grouping function and providing more material models. After that, FLAC3D and D-FEM are simultaneously used to perform the structural stability analysis of the surrounding rock mass in the forked tunnel considering three different computing schemes. The final numerical results behave almost consistent using both FLAC3D and D-FEM. But from the point of numerically obtained damage softening areas, the numerical results obtained by D-FEM more closely approach the practical behaviors of in-situ surrounding rock mass.

경량구조 적용을 위한 구조 접합부 설계 (Design of the Structural Connection for Lightweight Structure Application)

  • 본 논문에서는 경량구조 적용을 위한 구조 접합부 설계를 제시하였다. 압력에 대한 구조 안정성 연구를 위하여 용접부 접합부와 볼트 접합부에 대한 모델을 설계하였다. 확립된 모델의 신뢰성 검증을 위하여, 비선형 해석을 수행하였고, 실험결과와 비교하였을 때 유사한 결과를 확인하였다. 또한 비교연구를 통하여 구조설계 재료와 적합한 용접방법을 선택하였으며, 볼트의 개수와 위치에 따른 파단하중 시뮬레이션을 진행하여 응력에 따른 안정성을 분석하였다. 마지막으로, 접합부 모델을 기반으로 경량 구조를 모델링하고 구조 해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 용접부와 볼트체결을 적용하여 설계된 구조가 접합부를 적용하지 않은 구조에 비해 최대응력이 31.4% 감소함을 확인하였다. 이 결과를 토대로, 경량구조의 안정성 해석 시 접합부 모델링의 필요성을 확인하였다.
