루이스 칸 건축에 나타나는 반접합(反接合)의 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meaning of Dis-joint in the Architecture of Louis Kahn)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of 'dis-joint' in the works of Louis I. Kahn. Kahn tried to realize his main architectural thoughts of 'what it wants to be' and 'how it was done' through his whole life. The concept of 'dis-joint' had been developed to visualize his architectural thoughts. Kahn used' dis-joint' to show and emphasize the structural system for the raison d'etre of building. Kahn's 'dis-joint' can be categorized as 'spacing', 'butt', 'slit' and 'protrusion'. Kahn used this kind of unusual way of joint beyond simple exposure to stress the existence of element, part and building itself. Through variable combination usage of 'dis-joint', Kahn can realize his architectural thoughts into building in a concrete way. The efficiency and function of joint is not the main issue in his works. 'Dis-joint' was the concrete tool to show the tectonic of architecture and construction process to enhance its presence. Therefore 'dis-joint' of Kahn's architecture is not a joint only to combine building parts but a concrete mean to realize his thoughts in a corporeal way. These facts insinuate that Kahn's architectural philosophy is based on the thoughts of tectonic and its realization.

공간적 측면에서 본 미스 반 데어 로에의 경구 "less is more"의 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meaning of Mies van der Rohe's Aphorism that "Less is More" in Terms of Space)

  • This paper attempts to interpret the meaning of Mies van der Rohe's famous aphorism that "less is more" in terms of space. From his assertion that the art of building is the spatial execution of spiritual decisions, one can presume that his art of building was revealed through his spatial execution consciously guided by creative principles. One of his spatial principles was less is more a representative motto for the creation of sparsely furnished space with few objects and little perceptible architecture. After his awareness of an open plan, Mies intended to create less architecture by designing a minimal form of structural frames and maximum openness of open plans and glazed walls. This study posits that Mies created more potential space, for which he intended his open plans and neutral frames to be viewed as less. His building was designed to serve as the background of works of art and the changing nature outside so restrained its own existential voice in favor of the achievement of total harmony.

'For/From V-ing' 사역구문의 전치사 for/from 교체현상 연구 (For/from Alternations in Causative 'FOR/FROM V-ing' Constructions)

  • 본 논문은 보어로 사용된 사격 구문의 구조 및 의미적 특징을 논의하고, 비정형 V-ing 보어절 구문에 사용된 전치사 for와 from의 교체현상에서 드러난 문법적 특징을 고찰한다. 본 논문에서는 경험적 자료에 근거해 이 구문에서 사용되는 주절 동사를 기준으로 세 가지 유형의 통사적 패턴이 있다는 것을 제시하고, 이와 동시에 이 세 가지 통사 유형이 의미와 긴밀하게 연결되어 있다는 사실을 제시한다. 이런 유형분류는 수동태와 동사적 상에서 그 근거를 제시한다. 또한 비정형 V-ing절을 이끄는 전치사 for와 from의 기능을 고려해 본다면, 전치사로 취급하는 것이 타당하다는 견해를 제시한다.

수준별 어휘 조정에 따른 한국어 읽기 텍스트 이해도 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Korean Reading Comprehension by Adjusting Vocabulary Levels)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of text modification by comparing differences in Korean reading comprehension levels that arise from differences in vocabulary levels in texts. This study intends to use simplified texts with the vocabulary difficulty adjusted differently from the original text to measure reading comprehension levels of Korean learners and analyze the result. To measure reading comprehension, the researcher divided 55 Korean learners of intermediate to advanced level of fluency into two groups; the control group read the original text and the treatment group read a simplified text in which complex vocabulary were substituted with easier words of medium difficulty. Then the two groups were tested with the same questionnaire to measure comprehension levels of each group. The result showed that the groups that read simplified texts scored higher than the control group; this suggests that the reading comprehension level was increased in the treatment group. The experiment confirmed that unknown vocabulary density has direct impact on Korean reading comprehension. The result shows that the proportion of unknown vocabulary should be reduced for meaning-focused reading. It also demonstrates that comprehension of the learner was enhanced with lexical simplification rather than structural simplification i.e. simplification of grammar or sentences. Thus, diverse reading materials adjusted to the learners' level of fluency should be developed to enable reading for learning Korean. By reducing the burden of understanding the meaning of each vocabulary, learners will be able to achieve the initial goal of reading.

팔엽심련만다라(八葉心蓮曼陀羅)의 의미분석과 시각화 (Semantic Analysis and Visualization on The Palyupsimryun Mandala)

  • 본 논문에서는 한국의 전통문화유물 중 고도의 정신세계를 나타내는 팔엽심련만다라의 특징과 구조적 의미를 분석하고 시각화를 기술한다. 다양한 국외 만다라에 대한 연구가 소개되고 있으나, 현존하는 한국의 만다라에 대하여 그 의미를 체계적으로 분석한 연구는 미진하다. 본 논문에서는 한국의 팔엽심련만다라의 종자를 형상 위주의 만다라에서 나타난 존상과 매칭하여 시각화하고, 이런 과정을 통하여 우리 고유의 종자(種字)만다라가 기존 금강계만다라와 태장만다라가 융합된 만다라로서의 형태를 가지고 있음을 보인다. 응용 분야로는 만다라의 캐릭터화, 디지털 스토리텔링, 게임 등이다.

  • It was early in the $20^{th}$ century when the space was begun to say through the mutual circumstances of form and contents. Adrian Forty explained that the characteristics of space can be divided into three steps by the period: a space of enclosure, a space as continuum and a space as an extension of the body. And there is common condition that all three spaces are accompanied by the form. In the new thinking of architectural form in terms of text in modern society, architecture becomes to more complex to understanding. Saying that there is nothing outside text (Il n'y a rien en dehors du text.) in the world, Jacques Derrida insisted the world to be texted and not to be special centrality, where can be existed by difference and delay its meaning. Text is the structural meaning (sign), not a metaphorical one (symbol). Without the symbol, the architecture can be recognized as text with signing to the form. For that, there is a question how can be explained the space in terms of text extracting the meaning and the symbol. Absolutely not intended by Mies van der Rohe, but in his works of houses and pavilion, its characteristics and traces of text can be seen. If it is possible to analyse his works in the textual view, space of Mies will be found in the same direction of text. And it will be an important opportunity to re-evaluate the space of Mies works standing in the heart of Modern Architecture.

초.중등 과학 교과서 화산과 지진 관련 단원 글의 언어 구조 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of the Linguistic Features of Texts used in the unit of Volcano and Earthquake in Korean Elementary and Secondary School Science Textbooks)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 초 중 고등학교 과학 교과서 글의 구조적 특징을 종합적으로 분석하여 학생들이 상급 학교로 진학하면서 경험하게 되는 과학 교과서 글의 변화 양상을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구 자료로 제 7차 교육 과정에 의해 개발된 초 중 고등학교 과학 교과서의 '화산과 지진' 관련 단원의 글을 선정하였으며, '텍스트 구성적 의미', '상호 관계적 의미', '내용과 논리 관계 의미'의 측면에서 글을 비교 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 과학 교과서의 글은 학교급에 따라 글의 구조를 비롯한 언어적 특징이 다르게 나타나며, 학생들이 상급 학교로 진학하면서 이러한 글의 구조적 특징 차이에 의해서도 과학 교과서를 읽고 이해하는 것이 어렵고 생소하다고 인식할 수 있음을 문제로 제기하였다. 또한 과학을 학습하는 과정에서 과학의 언어가 지니는 구조적 특징에 대한 과학 교사의 중재자 역할이 필요함을 제안하였다.

실내공간의 이미지 표현 특성에 관한 연구 -상업공간의 디자인을 중심으로- (A Study on the Characteristics in Image Expression of Interior Space)

  • 실내공간의 구성원리는 비가식적 측면의 '내용'과 가시적 측면의 '형태'간의 결합방식에 의해 결정되며 그에 따라 다양한 의미가 내재하게 된다. 특히 실내디자인에 있어서의 내용은 형식을 통하여 총체적으로 표현하고자 하는 비가시적인 개념이며, 이는 디자이너가 공간의 사용자에게 전하고자 하는 이미지가 중심이 된다. 본 연구에서는 이미지 표현에 있어서의 구조적, 유형적, 전달의 특성을 규명하기 위해, 관련 문헌 조사를 통하여 이지미에 관한 내용을 파악한 후 국내외에 발표된 상업공간을 대상으로 공간 분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과 실내공간에서의 이미지는 디자이너의 초기공간 개념으로써 의미의 심층부를 형성하며 다양한 형태소의 변환규칙에 의해 의미가 전달됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 실내공간의 이미지는 공간의 형식적인 요소에 의해 자연히 발생되는 부가적 개념이 아니라 공간계획의 초기 단계부터 다루어져야 하는 계획개념으로 인식되어야 한다는 결론을 얻을 수 있다.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to understand the meaning of meridian in "Woegwasimbeopyogyeol (WGS)" of "The Golden Mirror of Medicine (GMM)". Methods : We compared the meaning of meridian in WGS with in Jagusimbeopyogyeol (JGS) of GMM. Results : Objectivity and clearness is obtained by inserting the meridian and collateral diagram and the partially expanded diagram in WGS and JGS. The meridian song (a quatrain with seven) in WGS is placed at the beginning of the chapter, indicating its importance. Kihyeoldaso of 12 meridians is detailed in WGS, so as to reduce the harmful effect when doctors diagnose, treat and prognose. It is important to understand the meaning of meridian When doctors treat carbunculosis. The symptoms of a disease is classified by parts and shown in diagram, which can play an important role in diagnosis. Conclusions : The WGS follows the meanings of meridian and the complementary structure in JGS.

담론적 관점에서 그래프 해석에 대한 분석틀 재구성 및 적용 -우리나라 수학 교과서와 미국 CMP 교과서 중심으로- (Reconstruction and application of an analytic framework for discursive approach to interpretations of graph -The case of a Korean textbook and CMP-)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for improvement of mathematics textbook based on discursive approach to textbook analysis that complementarily combines a communicational approach to cognition and social semiotics. For this purpose, we reconstructed an analytic framework for discursive approach to written discourses of Korean textbook and CMP, and applied it to our analysis. Results show that several characteristics in meanings were developed by the use of words and visual mediators. First, in the case of ideational meaning, there were qualitative and quantitative differences between vocabularies used and between information addressed by visual mediators. Second, in the case of structural meaning, an offer and application of procedure was emphasized in a Korean textbook, whereas expectation and selection experiences of diverse possibilities for problem solving was underlined in CMP. In the case interpersonal meaning of student-author, imperative instructions were paid attentions in a Korean textbook. In contrast, students' interdependence and active participation were stressed in CMP. Therefore, this study addressed ideas about how to analyze mathematics textbooks based on integrated meanings developed by the use of words and visual mediators. In addition, it distributes implications for improvements of Korean mathematics textbooks through the analytic framework of both mathematical meanings and interpersonal meanings of student-author.
