The safety-class (1E) digital control system (DCS) of nuclear power plant characterized structural multiple redundancies, therefore, it is important to quantitatively evaluate the reliability of DCS in different degree of backup loss. In this paper, a reliability evaluation model based on T-S fuzzy fault tree (FT) is proposed for 1E DCS of nuclear power plant, in which the connection relationship between components is described by T-S fuzzy gates. Specifically, an output rejection control system is chosen as an example, based on the T-S fuzzy FT model, the key indicators such as probabilistic importance are calculated, and for a further discussion, the T-S fuzzy FT model is transformed into Bayesian Network(BN) equivalently, and the fault diagnosis based on probabilistic analysis is accomplished. Combined with the analysis of actual objects, the effectiveness of proposed method is proved.

Recently the problems related to the failure of the retaining wall structure has become great concern since the damage to the properties and human losses have occurred in the rainy season. However, a detail guideline on safety inspection and appropriate diagnosis on the retaining wall structure have not yet proposed and therefore, the inspection process and results are mainly dependant upon the engineers. The objective of this study is to propose objective and quantitative evaluation method for the condition based on the damage shapes and material types. In this purpose, composing materials of retaining wall are divided Into concrete, gabion, stone and reinforced earth, and then the evaluation items and method are suggested on the basis of the materials and structural characteristics of the retaining wall.
Impact seismic wave method is a method for non-destructive testing of concrete structure using of stress wave which is propagate and reflected from internal flaws within concrete structure and external surface. In this study, we performed frequency domain method using impact seismic wave test for safety diagnosis of civil engineering structure. And reflection method which is used for one-dimensional target such as tunnel lining and transmission method are compared with each other.

Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. Tensile membrane structures are most often used as roofs as they can economically and attractively span large distances. But cable systems have weaknesses to vibration by earthquake, wind and vehicle loads. Damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials, and The principle of operation of a piezoelectric sensor is that a physical dimension, transformed into a force, acts on two opposing faces of the sensing element. In this study, the development on test method of cable system is proposed and tested by tensile strength using piezo-electric materials.

Pipe wall thinning is one of severe problems on structural safety in nuclear power plants. A guided wave can be a proper tool for the fast evaluation or monitoring. As for gradual wall thinnings, however, low sensitivity caused by the low reflection coefficient limits the use of the guided wave. In this work, instead of the guided wave reflection at the wall thinning, the variation of dispersion characteristics is concerned. SH waves were employed due to several advantages and the magnetostrictive patch transducers were used for the excitation and sensing of the SH waves. The proposed method were verified with some experiments and showed the feasibility as an effective tool for the inspection of gradual wall thinning.

Dr. Corley had various experiences as an outstanding structural engineer. His experience as the chief investigator for the collapse of World Trade Center and Oklahoma city building was so much useful to the lecture. His presentation had covered 3 different collapsed buildings like Oklahoma city, Pentagon and World Trade Center. He had shown to the audiences 2 videos and 76 slides by power point. The learned lessons from his presentation were: 1. The appropriate Building Code is very important. 2. The sound details are very important for the structure to resist the extreme outer force. 3. The continuous diagnosis and maintenance of the structure is important. 4. The reasonable attitude of the government against the accident is important. 5. The professional engineer must take a main role as a guard for the safety of the people.
The Reactor internal structures which consist of many complex components are subjected to flow-induced vibration due to high temperature and pressure in Reactor coolant system. The above flow-induced vibration causes degradation of structural integrity of the Reactor and may result in loosing mechanical binding component which might impact other equipment and component or cause flow blockage. It is important to analyze reactor noise signal for the early detection of potential problem or failure in order to diagnosis reactor integrity in the point of view of safety and plant economics. Detailed composition of diagnostic system reactor internal structures using neutron noise(RIDS).
Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) composites and ceramic matrix composites (CMC) which contain electrically conductive phases have been designed and fabricated to introduce the detection capability of damage/fracture detection into these materials. The composites were made electrically conductive by adding carbon and TiN particles into FRP and CMC, respectively. The resistance of the conductive FRP containing carbon particles showed almost linear response to strain and high sensitivity over a wide range of strains. After each load-unload cycle the FRP retained a residual resistance, which increased with applied maximum stress or strain. The FRP with carbon particles embedded in cement (mortar) specimens enabled micro-crack formation and propagation in the mortar to be detected in situ. The CMC materials exhibited not only sensitive response to the applied strain but also an increase in resistance with increasing number of load-unload cycles during cyclic load testing. These results show that it is possible to use these composites to detect and/or fracture in structural materials, which are required to monitor the healthiness or safety in industrial applications and public constructions.

Reactor Noise is defined as the fluctuations of measured instrumentation signals during full-power operation of reactor which have informations on reactor system dynamics such as neutron kinetics. This study focus on the restoration stone selection of break-out part based on material characteristics analysis and the conservational safety diagnosis using various nondestructive techniques for Jungdong and Banjukdong Stone Auariums. As a result, the original rocks of the stone aquariums body are porphyritic granodiorite with magnetite-series having igneous lineation, microcline phenocryst, veinlet and basic xenolith. As a result of the provenance presumption of the host rock, a rock around Gamgokri area in Nonsan City was identified the genetically same rock. Therefore, the rock is appropriate for restoration materials of the break-out part. The deterioration assessment showed that the stone aquariums were highly serious scaling, scale off and blackening. Particularly, the front face of Banjukdong stone aquarium needs reinforcement of structural crack (760mm) caused from igneous lineation of biotite. Blackening contaminants on the stone aquariums surface occurred by combining iron oxide, manganese oxide and clay mineral. Also, major factors of efflorescence contaminants were identified as calcite (Jungdong stone aquariums) and gypsum (Banjukdong stone aquariums). The physical characteristics of stone aquariums appeared that the original and new stone is third (moderately weathered) and second grade (slightly weathered), respectively. This study sets up an integrated conservation system from material analysis to restoration stone selection and conservational safety diagnosis of Jungdong and Banjukdong stone aquariums.
