A study on the structural properties of BaTiO$_3$thin films with sputtering condition (sputtering 조건에 따른 BaTiO$_3$박막의 구조적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • BaTiO$_3$thin films were deposited on Pt/SiO$_2$/Si substrates by RF sputtering technique. The structural and crystallographic properties were studied with deposition conditions and annealing temperatures. Deposition rates and structural properties of BaTiO$_3$thin films were investigated by the SEM, XRD and AFM. The thickness of BaTiO$_3$thin films deposited with optimized conditions was 5200[$\AA$]. The grain size was found to increase remarkably with increasing sputtering power and independent on the sputtering pressure.

  • This paper propose section properties factor to generate stress history for fatigue analysis and safety inspection of steel bridge. A methodology is described for the computation of numerical stress histories in the steel truss bridge, caused by the vehicles using section properties factor. The global 3-D beam model of bridge is combined with the local shell model of selected details. Joint geometry is introduced by the local shell model. The global beam model takes the effects of joint rigidity and interaction of structural elements into account. Connection nodes in the global beam model correspond to the end cross-section centroids of the local shell model. Their displacements are interpreted as imposed deformations on the local shell model. The load cases fur the global model simulate the vertical unit force along the stringers. The load cases fer the local model are imposed unit deformations. Combining these, and applying vehicle loads, numerical stress histories are obtained. The method is illustrated by test load results of an existing bridge.

  • Plasma can be used to various applications such as sterilization, inactivation/removal of microorganisms, wound healing, tooth bleaching, cancer treatment, surface modification and plasma polymerization. In this research, we studied the effect of plasma irradiation on the structural, optical, and biological properties of the polymer films. Several polymers were synthesized and then deposited on the glass substrates. The polymer films were treated by oxygen and nitrogen plasmas. Plasma-treated films were investigated by contact angle, infrared absorption spectroscopy, cathodoluminescence spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Functional materials were prepared on plasma-treated surface, and their performances were investigated using various techniques. Next, we discuss relationship between the performance of functional materials and the structural properties of plasma-treated polymer films.

  • The Mg($_{1-x}$ )S $r_{x}$Ti $O_3$(x=0.1,0.2,0.3) ceramics were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties were investigated with calcining temperature and composition ratio by XRD and DT-TGA. Increasing the calcining temperature from 80$0^{\circ}C$ to 100$0^{\circ}C$, second phase was decreased and average particle size was increased. The SrTi $O_3$ ceramics of calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$ had a structure of polycrystalline perovskite without the secondary phases. The average particle size of the $Mg_{0.9}$S $r_{0.1}$Ti $O_3$ ceramics calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$ were 0.67${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$..>......

  • An analytical method is proposed for the analysis of the reinforced concrete flexural beam subjected to high temperature. The analysis procedure for the material properties, in this study, is subdivided into two types; thermal properties for temperature distribution analysis and mechanical properties for structural analysis. Using F.D.M. and segmentation method, the program was made to predict the thermal behavior of RC beams during heating. In previous studies, the structural behavior of fire damaged RC beams was investigated though experiments. Comparing the result by program to the one by experiment, the comparison indicated that the proposed segmentation method for the thermal respose analysis present fairly a good agreement with experiment.

Structural Properties of PZT(80/20) Thick Films Fabricated by Screen Printing Method

  • Pb(Zr$_{0.8}$Ti$_{0.2}$)O$_{3}$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with an organic vehicle and the PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on Pt/Ah03 substrates. The structural properties were examined as a function of sintering temperature. The particle size distribution of the PZT powder derived from the sol-gel process is uniform with the mean particle size of about 2.6 m. As a result of the DTA, the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase was observed at around $890^{circ}$CC. In the X-ray diffraction analysis, all PZT thick films showed a perovskite polycrystalline structure without a pyrochlore phase. The perovskite crystallization temperature of PZT thick films was about $890^{circ}$C. The average thickness of the PZT thick films was approximately 80-90 m.

Bending Strength Properties of glulam made from small diameter logs. (소경재를 이용한 통직집성재의 휨강도 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the strength and technical feasibility of glulam from small diameter Pinus densiflora and Larix kaempferi. Small diameter logs are currently not used in structural laminated beam construction, but it is suggested that its properties may be feasible for this purpose. The glulam combinations were designed with high grade laminae located at outer laminations (face) and low grade laminae located at center laminations. Important problems of finger jointed glulam as a structural beam are the small modulus of rupture (MOR). One solution for this problem Mi to use veneer and solid wood as the face laminae. The MOE values were predicted for each beam from laminae. The results showed that actual beam MOE values exceeded slightly the predicted values. Based on the evaluation and analysis of Pinus and Larix glulam, the maximum load of Larix kaempferi glulam indicated large values. The bending properties of A and E types glulam were superior to others. It is suggested that this small diameter log can be a candidate for structural glulam construction, providing the proper combinations of face laminae.

  • The effect of hydrogen and oxygen plasma treatments on the structural properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been systematically investigated. The plasma treatment resulted in the removal of the amorphous carbon particles. As the plasma treatment time was longer, the CNT diameter was reduced, regardless of gas types. Especially, for the sample treated in hydrogen plasma, the catalyst metal on the tip of CNTs was eliminated.

  • $PbTiO_3$ and PZT(52/48) powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with an organic vehicle and the PT/PZT(52/40) heterolayered thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on Pt/$Al_2O_3$ substrates. The structural properties such as DTA, X-ray diffraction and microstructure, were examined as a amount of the PbO-$PbF_2$ flux. In the X-ray diffraction analysis, PZT(52/48) thick films showed a perovskite polycrystalline structure without a pyrochlore phase.

  • The effect of hydrogen and oxygen plasma treatments on the structural properties of carbon nanotube(CNT) has been systematically investigated. As the plasma power was increased, nano particles were appeared at the surface of CNTs. At high plasma power(300 Watt), the structure of CNT was changed from nanotube type to nano particles. However, in case of hydrogen plasma treatment, there was no change in microstructure of CNT. From the Raman analysis, the crystallinity of CNT was deteriorated by the plasma treatment, regardless of gas types.
