Purpose: Although the prevalence rate of chronic diseases is rapidly increasing due to an unhealthy diet in Korea, nurses may not have enough nutritional knowledge to educate their patients. This study investigated the level of nurses' nutritional knowledge for chronic diseases as well as for strokes, and the needs for nurses' nutritional education. Methods: This research is a descriptive research conducted from April to August of 2014, on 242 nurses who work with stroke patients, in two tertiary general hospitals in the city of Seoul, South Korea. Results: The average nutritional knowledge score of our subjects was $19.9{\pm}2.51$ (range 12-24). The correct response rate was 83% which was higher than expected. However, many nurses (31-66%) answered incorrectly on items such as 'Drinking low-fat milk is better than whole milk', and 'Seasoning with a large amount of soy sauce instead of salt can reduce sodium consumption'. We also found that nurses who received continuing education regarding nutrition scored higher than those who did not (p=.020). There was no correlation between nutritional knowledge and the need for nutritional education (r=.034, p=.601). Conclusion: The level of nutritional knowledge of the nurses was relatively low and irrelevant to the completion of nutrition courses during university or duration of experience. Rather, the relevance was higher when the nurse received nutrition-related training after graduating from university. Our results imply that continuous nutritional education is necessary for hospital nurses.
Objective : There have not been studies on the oriental medicine research trends and qualitative analysis of Korean oriental medicine articles in Korea, particularly in the oriental medicine area. This study's purpose is to appreciate Korean oriental medicine's research trends and assess the quality of the Korean oriental medical journals' level. This study will help upgrade Korean oriental medical journals. Method : We found 93 stroke-related articles in the Journal of Korean Oriental Medicine, published between 1980(Volume 1) and 2001(Volume 45). We surveyed the institutes involved in each study, and the number of people in each study. We seperated by epidemiological study design, the studies into categories. Campbell and Stanley's study design into 6 categories, statistical methods into 13 categories. Next, we assessed the 41 articles by a checklist, which had 10 categories. The quality score was analyzed by survey variables over the period, which were divided by the date of publication: the 1980s, the first half of the 1990s, second half of the 1990s and 2000s. Results : 46.3% od the studies didn't use statistical methods. 56.1%, were case series studies by classification of epidemiological study design, and 53.6% were one-shot case studies designed by Campbell and Stanley's study design. The quality score was 58.33 point 60 is average. In quality level by Browman GP etc.'s, 83.0% of the studies were included in V levels. But, the quality scores were significant by presence of reviewer system, statistical method's usage, and over the period. Conclusion : The Journal of Korean Oriental Medicine needs to improve the quality its articles. To improve the quality of oriental medicine related articles, the following are necessary: working together, joint work of inter-educational system, strengthening of reviewer system, use of statistical methods, and consulting to the expert of research at the stage of study design.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of a community based group exercise intervention on motor functional capacity. To evaluate the immediate(post-treatment) effects after 6-weeks exercise program on the group exercise intervention(PNF and Circuit exercise). Methods : Subjects-Included persons with stroke who were living in the community. Thirty-seven subjects were randomly assigned to the PNF, Circuit exercise and control group participated in a repeated measures design that evaluated the subjects with pre-treatment, post-treatment(6 weeks). Functional ability outcome measures assessed the motor assessment scale(MAS) and EMG. Both treatment groups participated in exercise cJass three times a week for 6 weeks. Group programs focused on balance, functional motor capacity and walking ability. The PNF program was modified PNF pattem and techniques with emphasis on functional tasks when possible, as well as stretching of the more affected limb particularly in the more affected shoulder. The Circuit program with subjects completing practice at a selies of work station as well as participating in walking races and relay with other members of the group. Results : Compared with the control group, the treatment group had larger improvements in the motor function ability after 6 weeks treatment and Post-treatment test scores were more significant than the pre-treatment score. 1. Motor function were assessed by using MAS, sit to stand, walking and upper function were assessed pre-treatment versus post-treatment measures revealed a statically significant(p<.05). There were significant differences between the groups. Compared with the control group, the treatment group had larger improvements. 2. In the treatment groups, demonstrated difference in the electromyographic activation of biceps, triceps, quadriceps and tibialis anterior muscles on the paretic side in the response to the reaching arm movement and stepping motion in stance. The difference in muscle activation improvement were not statically significant. Conclusion : The results of this study showed that the PNF and Circuit group exercise intervention can improve motor functional ability. This study suggests that the PNF and Circuit exercise programs is appropriate for community-based group exercise principles. It leads to gain and maintain potential function for disabled persons after stroke in the community.

■Objectives This work reports the case of a patient complaining of disequilibrium due to proprioceptive disorder whose condition improved following Korean medicine treatment. ■Methods The patient was hospitalized for 15 days and treated with herbal medicine, mainly doinseunggi-tang-gami, and acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and moxibustion. Disequilibrium was clinically estimated using Korean dizziness handicap inventory(K-DHI) and the patient's subjective discomfort in this regard was also checked by numeral rating scale. The degree of improvement in blood stasis syndrome was evaluated using modified Blood Stasis Questionnaire II(modified BSQ-II) to assess the clinical effects of the treatment. ■Results After treatment, the K-DHI classification improved from severe to mild, and the patient's subjective discomfort was greatly improved from NRS 6 to NRS1. In addition, the degree of improvement in blood stasis syndrome improved from blood stasis group to blood stasis risk group compared to time of admission. ■Conclusion These results suggest that Korean medicine is effective in treating disequilibrium caused by proprioceptive disorder.

We present lateral actuated piezoelectric actuator using U-shaped PZT strip and lever structure for the RF switch application. In the previous study of RF switch, they used horizontal contact switch fabricated by thin film metals. However, thin film metals could not generate large contact force due to low stiffness. In this work, we suggest lateral contact switch which makes large contact force by increasing stiffness. In addition, we use PZT actuator for the high force actuation. Generally actuator using thin film PZT moves to the vertical direction due to the neutral axis shift. Therefore we need lateral motion generation mechanism based on the thin film PZT actuator. In order to increase lateral motion of thin film PZT actuator, we use U-shaped PZT actuator using residual stress control. Also, thin film PZT actuator can generate very small lateral motion of 120${\times}$10$^{-6}$${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/V for d$_{31}$ mode, thus we suggest lever structure to increase stroke amplification. From the experimental study, fabricated PZT actuator shows maximum lateral displacement of 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and break down voltage of the thin film PZT actuator is above 16V.
Calcium channel blockers may prevent myocardial injury during cardioplegia and reperfusion. This study was done to evaluate the effects of diltiazem cardioplegia on myocardial protection during ischemic arrest and recovery of myocardial function after reperfusion. Four formulations of crystalloid cardioplegic solutions, GIK solution[group I, n=12], diltiazem[lug/ml GIK] in GIK solution[group II, n=7], ],diltiazem[2ug/ml GIK] in GIK solution[group III, n=6] and diltiazem[4ug/ml GIK] in GIK solution[group IV, n=6] were compared in isolated working rat heart subjected to a long period [2 hours] of hypothermic arrest with multi-dose infusion. Diltiazem cardioplegia[group II, III and IV]was found to be superior in nearly all aspects. Diltiazem cardioplegia showed faster recovery of regular rhythm and lower incidence of ventricular fibrillation than group I did. In comparing mechanical function in all experimental hearts, the mean postischemic recoveries of aortic flow, cardiac output, peak aortic pressure, stroke volume and stroke work[expressed as a percentage of its preischemic control] were significantly greater in group II, III and IV[diltiazem cardioplegia] than in group I. The infused amount of cardioplegic solution was more increased by the addition of diltiazem to GI K solution. [p < 0.01] Creatine kinase leakage tended to be lower in hearts receiving diltiazem cardioplegia, especially in group III and IV[p<0.05] than in those receiving GIK solution only[group I]. Diltiazem cardioplegia results in the increased flow of cardioplegic solution and the decreased ischemic injury of myocardium during ischemic arrest and the improved recovery of myocardial function after reperfusion, and a dose-response relation must be established before clinical use.
Changes in cardiac performances were observed under variations of the arterial and/or venous pressures with K-loading or K-depletion in turtle heart. Hearts were perfused with turtle Ringer-Locke's solutions containing various levels of potassium ion concentration. When venous pressure increased from 4 to 12 cm $H_2O$, cardiac output increased from $6.2{\pm}0.68$ to $15.7{\pm}0.75\;ml/min$, concomittantly. On the contrary, cardiac output decreased during the elevation of arterial pressure. Stroke work increased more prominently during the arterial pressure elevation than during the elevation of venous pressure. During K-depletion$(1{\sim}2mEq/L)$, cardiac output increased to two times that of normal K-concentration$(3{\sim}6\;mEq/L)$ group. Heart rate increased also, but less markedly. In K-loaded$(7{\sim}8\;mEq/L)$ group, both the cardiac output and heart rate decreased but stroke volume rather increased, because heart rate decrement was disproportionate to that of cardiac output. We concluded that in perfused turtle heart, cardiac output variation was more sensitive to K_depletion whereas heart rate to K-loading.

The quality of a precision product, in general, relies on the accuracy and precision of its manufacturing and inspection process. In many cases, the level of precision in the manufacturing and inspection system is also dependent on the positioning capability of tool with respect to the work piece in the process. Recently the positioning accuracy level has reached to the level of submicron and long range of motion is required. For example, for 1 GDARM lithography, 20nm accuracy and 300mm stroke needs. This paper refers to the lithography stage especially to fine stage. In this study, for long stroke and high accuracy, the dual servo system is proposed. For the coarse actuator, LDM (Linear DC Motor) is used and for fine one VCM is used. In this study, we propose the new structure of VCM for the fine actuator. It is 3 axis precision positioning stage for an aligner system. After we perform the optimal design of the stage to obtain the maximum force, which is related to the acceleration of the stage to accomplish throughput of product. And we controlled this fine stage with TDC. So we obtained 50nm resolution. So later more works will be done to obtain better accuracy.
In this paper, we proposes a method that analyzes the characteristics and patterns of color juxtaposition based on the color wheel used by pointillism painter and an algorithm that generates pointillistic images by applying obtained analysis data. In order to analyze color juxtaposition of pointillism, we extract the stroke colors of real painting and find the most similar probability density functions(PDFs) through applying good-of-fit tests for the probabilistic distribution of stroke colors. By performing the juxtaposition of color based on the found PDFs, we can convert input image to pointillistic image effectively. It can be seen that this study shows reliability in the use of data obtained from actual paintings and that leads to perform a reasonable work.

In this research, the diesel cycle was thermodynamically interpreted to evaluate the possibility of high efficiency by converting diesel engine to the atkinson cycle, and general cycle features were analyzed after comparing these two cycles. That an experimental single cylinder and a long stroke diesel-atkinson engine, of which S/B ratio was more than 3, were manufactured. After evaluating the engine through basic experiments, a diesel engine was converted into the atkinson cycle by constituent VCR (variable compression ratio) device and VVT (variable valve timing) system. The experimental method was to observe compression work reduction effects due to low compression effects from delayed intake valve closing of the early stage atkinson engine. The result, the possibility of increasing compression ratio about each engine load was confirmation by constructing compensate expansion-compression ratio in accordance with the delayed intake valve close.
