  • Ionic liquid-functionalized ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15 modified carbon paste electrode (CISPE) was fabricated and its electrochemical performance was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectra. The electrochemical behavior of $Cd^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$ at CISPE was studied by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). Compared with carbon paste electrode, the stripping peak currents had a significant increase at CISPE. Under the optimized conditions, the detection limits were $8.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Cd^{2+}$), $4.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Pb^{2+}$), $6.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Cu^{2+}$), $1.0{\times}10^{-8}\;M$ ($Hg^{2+}$), respectively. Furthermore, the present method was applied to the determination of $Cd^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$ in water samples and people hair sample.

  • An integrated gold microdisk electrode was constructed and modified with metal-porphyrin or metal-phthalocyanines for NO determination in biological media. Microanalysis of NO using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry in $1\;{\times}\;10^{-2}$ M $HClO_4$ was optimal when the accumulation potential was 0.1 V, frequency 100 Hz, and the scan rate was 200 mV/s. When the electrode was modified with metal-porphyrin or metal-phthalocyanines, the anodic peak currents of NO increased due to the catalytic oxidation of NO. In case of Fe(II)-phthalocyanine modified electrode, the peak currents remarkably increased and the sensitivity was high. The calibration curve had good linearity in the range from $3.6\;{\times}\;10^{-5}$ M to $7.2\;{\times}\;10^{-7}$ M, and the detection limit was $5.7\;{\times}\;10^{-7}$ M. For the structural stability and increased sensitivity, Fe(II)-phthalocyanine modified gold microdisk electrode coated with Nafion was applied to determination of NO released from cultured macrophase.

  • In this study, we investigate the use of new carbon nanotube paste electrode (CNPE) for promoting the detection of lead (Pb) heavy metal in the a drinkable water, which negatively affects human brain and nerve system. For the evaluations, CNPE is served as a working electrode, while sensitivity and limit of detection (LOD) of Pb are measured in DI and tap water based electrolytes using squarewave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). As a result of that, in the 25~150 ppb range of $Pb^{2+}$ ions, its sensitivity and calculated LOD are $12.85\;{\mu}A/{\mu}M$ and 26 ppb in DI water based 0.1 M $H_{2}SO_{4}$ electrolyte while they are $10.36\;{\mu}A/{\mu}M$ and 38 ppb electrolytes respectively. In addition, experimentally measured LOD values of Pb are 4 ppb and 10 ppb in the two water electrolytes. The stripping of $Pb^{2+}$ ion is also controlled by surface reaction. Our experimental data are then compared with those of other already published references. With the comparison, it is proved that our electrode outperforms other electrodes in terms of the sensitivity and LOD of trace Pb metal.

  • The determination of sex hormones by adsorpive stripping voltammetry in $1.0{\times}10^{-2}M$ sodium hydroxide as supporting electrolyte has been investigated in the conditions as follows : 240sec. for deposition time, -0.80 volts deposition potential, medium size mercury drop, and 20mV/sec scan rate. Calibration curve has shown a linearlity in the range of $5.0{\times}10^{-9}M$ to $8.0{\times}10^{-7}M$ and the detection limits have been $8.0{\times}10^{-10}M$ for progesterone and $1.4{\times}10^{-9}M$ for testosterone propionate. This method has shown such a good sensitivity even in dilute solution that has been use full for analyzing sex hormones in medical supplies without interference of additives.

  • In vivo nicotine is associated with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and lung cancer. Diagnostic assays of these diseases depend on very low analytical detection limits. In this study, a sensitive analytical method was examined using a voltammetric graphite pencil electrode (GPE) and a modified carbon nanotube paste electrode (CNE). The optimum analytical conditions for both electrodes were compared using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SW) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) obtaining 400 sec accumulation time and oxidation peak. Under optimum parameters, the stripping working range of GPE was $5.0-40.0{\mu}g/L$, CNE: 0.1-0.8 and $5-50{\mu}g/L$. Quantification limits were $5.0{\mu}g/L$ for GPE and $0.1{\mu}g/L$ for CNE, while detection limits were $0.6{\mu}g/L$ for GPE and $0.07{\mu}g/L$ for CNE. A standard deviation of $10.0{\mu}g/L$ was observed for 0.064 GPE and 0.095 CNE (n = 12) using 400 sec accumulation time. The results obtained can be applied to non.treated urine and ex vivo biological diagnostics.

  • Voltammetric diagnostics of pesticide thiram was studied in plant leafs in vivo fluid with DNA immobilized on a carbon nanotube electrode (DCE). Sensor properties of carbon nanotube (CE) and DNA immobilized nanotube were compared. DCE was more effective than CE in target detecting. The parameters such as pH strength, stripping accumulation, amplitude, and increment potential were examined to find the optimum condition for detection of pesticide thiram in a sesame leaf. The optimized conditions were as follows 550 Hz frequency, 0.15 V amplitude, 0.005 V increment potential, -1.2 V initial potential, 4.78 pH, 500 sec accumulation time. Under optimum condition, the detection limit of thiram was attained at 0.01ng/L.

  • Trace uranium detection measurement was performed using DNA immobilized on a graphite pencil electrode(DGE). The developed probe was connected to the portable handheld voltammetric systems used for seawater analysis. The sensitive voltammogram was obtained within only 30 s accumulation time, and the anodic stripping working range was attained at 100~800 ${\mu}g/l$ U and 10~50 ${\mu}g/l$. The statistic relative standard deviation of 30.0 mg/l with the $15^{th}$ stripping was 0.2115. Here, toxicological and analytical application was performed in the seawater survey in a contaminated power plant controlling water. The results were found to be applicable for real-time toxicological assay for trace control.

  • The electrochemical behavior of 2-Amino-1-cyclopentene-1-dithiocarboxylate (acdc) was investigated by the use of polarography, cyclic voltammetry and cathodic stripping voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode. In this study, it was found that the dimer of the acdc was deposited on the glassy carbon electrode via one-electron oxidation process at +0.25V vs. SCE. The ring formation between two dithio group occurs along with the elimination of one sulfur atom. The elimination of sulfur atom occurs via two electron oxidation process at +0.8V vs. SCE. The most sensitive cathodic stripping peak due to the formation of the dimer was observed at -0.85V vs. SCE. The peak relationship between current and concentration was fairly linear in the range of 3${\times}10^{-5}{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-6}$M. The preconcentration procedure enhanced the sensitivity about 100 times for the analysis of acdc using diffusion current. Detection limit was found to be $2.5{\times}10^{-7}$M and relative standard deviation was ${\pm}$4.1 % at $5.0{\times}10^{-6}$M DC polarography.
