  • In this paper, we established the generalized thermoelasticity phenomenon in an isotropic elastic medium considering the electromagnetic field, rotation and two-temperature. Three theories of generalized thermoelasticity have been applied: Lord-Shulman (one relaxation time), Green-Lindsay (two relaxation times), as well as the coupled theory. We discussed some particular cases in the context of the wave propagation phenomenon in thermoelasticity. From solving the fundamental equations, we arrived that there are three waves: P-, T- and SV-waves that we calculated their velocities. The boundary conditions for mechanical stress and Maxwell's stress and thermal insulated or isothermal have been applied to determine the amplitudes ratios (reflection coefficients) for P-, T - and SV waves. Some utilitarian aspects are obtained from the reflection coefficients, presented graphically, and the new conclusions have been presented. Comparisons are made for the results predicted by different theories (CT, LS, GL) in the absence and presence of the electro-magnetic field, rotation, as well as two-temperature on the reflection of generalized thermoelastic waves. The results obtained concluded that the external parameters as the angle of incidence, electromagnetic field, rotation as well as the theories parameters have strong effect on the phenomenon.

  • The present article is aimed at studying the reflection phenomena of plane waves in a homogeneous, orthotropic, initially stressed magneto-thermoelastic rotating medium with diffusion. The enuciation is applied to generalized thermoelasticity based on Lord-Shulman theory. There exist four coupled waves, namely, quasi-longitudinal P-wave (qP), quasi-longitudinal thermal wave (qT), quasi-longitudinal mass diffusive wave (qMD) and quasi-transverse wave (qSV) in the medium. The amplitude and energy ratios for these reflected waves are derived and the numerical computations have been carried out with the help of MATLAB programming. The effects of rotation, initial stress, magnetic and diffusion parameters on the amplitude ratios are depicted graphically. The expressions of energy ratios have also been obtained in explicit form and are shown graphically as functions of angle of incidence. It has been verified that during reflection phenomena, the sum of energy ratios is equal to unity at each angle of incidence. Effect of anisotropy is also depicted on velocities of various reflected waves.

  • An underground explosion crests shock waves, which propagate to a buried structure through the이 ground. Due to the explosion, very high stresses and large deformation occur in the ground so that the shock waves decay gradually. In this study the numerical simulation of the ground shock attenuation has teen performed. One dimensional wave equation is presented and the finite difference method is applies. A Cap model is adopted to describe the stress-strain behavior of the ground. The results are expressed by the attenuation of the peak stress and the particle vrelocity by the time and the distance.

  • This paper provides a practical stochastic method by which the maximum equilibrium scour depth around spherical bodies exposed to long-crested (2D) and short-crested (3D) nonlinear random waves can be derived. The approach is based on assuming the waves to be a stationary narrow-band random process, adopting the Forristall (2000) wave crest height distribution representing both 2D and 3D nonlinear random waves, and using the regular wave formulas for scour and self-burial depths by Truelsen et al. (2005). An example calculation is provided.

  • This study aimed to verify the healing effect through brain and pulse wave analyses before and after a forest walk to the university students. Bio-signals of brain and pulse waves were measured using Omnifit Mindcare. After analyzing four brain wave items such as concentration and four pulse wave items such as heart health, it is identified that the stress level of university students was higher than that of the general public, and the brain stress level was approached to the normal range for 19 people with clear improvement. For pulse waves, a statistically significant decrease in sympathetic nerve activity (%) was confirmed. Although the slight fluctuations within the normal range were caused by short term and individual differences, it showed that the forest walking is partially effect on the relieving stress.

  • Elastic and electromagnetic waves can be used to gather important information about particulate materials. To facilitate smart geophysical characterization of particulate materials, their fundamental properties are discussed and experimental procedures are presented for both elastic and electromagnetic waves. The first application is related to the characterization of particulate materials using shear waves, concentrating on changes in effective stress during consolidation, multi-phase phenomena with relation to capillarity, and microscale characteristics of particles. The second application involves electromagnetic waves, focusing on stratigraphy detection in layered soils, estimation of void ratio and its spatial distribution, and conduction in unsaturated soils. Experimental results suggest that shear waves allow studying particle contact phenomena and the evolution of interparticle forces, while electromagnetic waves give insight into the characteristics of the fluid phase and its spatial distribution.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the surface waves in fibre-reinforced anisotropic thermoelastic medium subjected to gravity field. The theory of generalized surface waves has firstly developed and then it has been employed to investigate particular cases of waves, viz., Stoneley waves, Rayleigh waves and Love waves. The analytical expressions for displacement components, force stress and temperature distribution are obtained in the physical domain by using the harmonic vibrations. The wave velocity equations have been obtained in different cases. The numerical results are given and presented graphically in Green-Lindsay and Lord-Shulman theory of thermoelasticity. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence of gravity, anisotropy, relaxation times and parameters for fibrereinforced of the material medium. The results indicate that the effect of gravity, anisotropy, relaxation times and parameters for fibre-reinforced of the material medium are very pronounced.

  • It is important to have exact information about the contact pressure distribution in the design of connected parts of machines and structures. In previous works, stress analyses on a two body contact problem have been carried out in large numbers. Besides, the measurement of contact stress is important to confirm the adequateness of the theoretical analysis, to verify appropriateness of Hertzian contact theory and to know the practical pressure distribution, but an excellent measuring method con't be found at present. Therefore, a quantitative measurement of contact pressure by means of ultrasonic waves using a normal probe and an angle has been proposed to measure the contact pressure distribution between two rough flat surfaces. At first, in a new proposed calibration method, the relation between mean contact pressure and sound pressure of reflected waves is obtained by using calibration blocks with various surface roughnesses made of the same material as the rectangular section beams And then, this experimental results are compared with the analytical ones, and the utility of this method is discussed.
