  • This study was performed in order to obtain the effect of the compressive strength of the cured product with manufacturing conditions (amounts of fine aggregate and different types of alkali activator). Material which is the basis of the cured product was used for the blast furnace slag, which has a latent hydraulic activity. Consequently, when using sodium hydroxide as the alkali activator, it is possible to obtain a higher compressive strength than using the calcium hydroxide. And also, it can be added a 10% of fine aggregate with blast furnace slag to improve the compressive strength.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate strength characteristics of various polymer concretes which were produced using materials available in Korea. Compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength were evaluated in this study. Eight different polymer binders were used, including two types of epoxy resin, five types of unsaturated polyester resin, and a type of MMA monomer. The results of this study showed that the product made from PC-100 of SH company was the best performing concrete. However, since this result was based on strength and economics point of view, further study has to be conducted for comprehensive analysis.

  • II-anhydrite, slag, and fly ash produced as industrial by-product were reutilized for the manufacture of high strength admixtures for cement and concrete. The effects of these admixtures on the compressive strength of cement mortar and concrete were examined with those of domestic admixture. At the condition mortar and concrete. Especially, adding of II-anhydrite was very effective for the increasing of compressive strength. Therefore it is possible that these admixture as a high strength admixture apply to cement and concrete.

  • This study investigated pre-mixed cement combined with ordinary portland cement, BF and SF, in order to manufacture cement binder, which is possible to produce 150MPa ultra high strength concrete. The BF used in this study reduces and control hydration heat. It can also improve concrete fluidity, while AP increases hydration product and accelerates reaction of BF. SF has micro filler effect and makes pozzolanic reaction. It also fabricates high density internal organization. This developed pre-mixed cement can reduce hydration heat and increase hydration product. It is possible to fabricate high density organization and to secure homogeneity. The mock-up test of ultra high strength concrete showed excellent dispersibility and workability and indicated compressive strength more than 150MPa at 28 days.

  • In this study, we tested to develop and apply structural insulation performance improvement concrete to field, which had compressive strength in 24 MPa and thermal conductivity twice as much as normal concrete. After experiment about slump and air contents, combination product of Plain and calcined diatomite powder showed reduction of slump and air contents and combination product with micro foam cell admixture, we cannot find result of slump and air contents reduction. Unit weight of combination product with insulation performance improvement materials decreased more than that of Plain. In the test of compressive strength, compressive strength of insulation performance improvement concrete decreased more than that of Plain but was content with 24 MPa. thermal conductivity of insulation performance improvement concrete tended to decrease. Freezing and thawing resistance of insulation performance improvement concrete was similar to that of Plain. In carbonation resistance test, combination product with calcined diatomite powder showed the result which was similar to that of Plain. In carbonation resistance test, combination product with micro foam cell admixture showed a increase compared to that of Plain and length variation of combination product generally increased.

  • The quantity of Recycled concrete powder is increased, because it hal been ever so often crushing for production of a good quality recycled aggregates This Study is on the Development of Concrete-Product by Using Recycled Concrete Powder and alto for know performance of concrete-producted having low water contents and it is to know for all of performance of concrete-producted having low water contents The conclusions of this study are following. The use of replacement cement is not effective, because it has strengh of less than 10MPa But It is possible to develop high strength concrete-producted having 39MPa above compressive strength by using recycled concrete powder. Because strength enhancement effects by recycled concrete powder are responsible to optimum grading. The conclusions of this study are following. • Recycled fibers usually give slow drainage in the paper forming process, which limits the application of more refining to the recycled fibers for improving paper strength and formation. To use recycled fibers more effectively, especially OCC, developing very efficient handling technique of short fibers and fines is inevitable. We tried to make hard flocs of fractionated short fibers and fines, which were the main cause of slow drainage, by adding excessive amount of retention aid selectively on them. This technique was proved to increase drainage considerably, but to decrease strength properties, compared to the conventional technique of adding the same amount of polymers to the whole furnish in the lab test. The bonding capability of short fibers and fines in Korean OCC was very poor. Various chemical treatment on the short fibers and fines of the Korean OCC did not improve their bonding and optical properties. One of the reasons of no improvement in their properties was their high amount of ashes.

  • Currently, composite board manufacturing using natural fibers has the potential to expand owing to environmental awareness. To produce a composite board, treatment is required to improve the mechanical and physical properties of the natural fibers. In this study, sodium chloride (NaCl) was used for the chemical treatment. However, studies on chemical treatments using NaCl are limited. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of kenaf fibers after NaCl treatment. The NaCl treatment concentrations were 1, 3, and 5 wt.% at room temperature, with soaking durations of 1, 2, and 3 h. The tensile strength, strain, and Young's modulus were measured to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fibers. The fiber bundle diameter, weight change owing to treatment, and contact angle were determined to analyze the effect of NaCl treatment. The kenaf fiber bundle treated with 5 wt.% NaCl for 3 h exhibited the highest tensile strength, Young's modulus, reduction in fiber bundle diameter, weight change, and decrease in contact angle compared to those of untreated fiber bundles. The tensile properties of the fiber bundle exhibited a tendency to decrease with increasing fiber bundle diameter. Increasing the soaking duration from 1 to 2 h did not result in a significant decrease in the fiber bundle diameter or an increase in tensile strength. However, a further increase in the soaking duration from 2 to 3 h resulted in a considerable decrease in the fiber bundle diameter and an increase in the tensile strength.

  • This study is a continuation of the previous experimental analysis and is mostly focused on handsheet strength properties. Four completely different fibers, which were Hw-BKP, Sw-BKP, white ledger, and OCC, were selected to investigate the effect of mechanical pre-treatment by Hobart mixer on handsheet strength properties. After equal time mechanical pre-treatment, the fibers were refined with laboratory valley beater for 10, 20 and 30 minutes, and handsheets were prepared from the fibers for physical strength comparison. Handsheets from SW-BKP and OCC showed 5-30% increase of breaking length, burst index, tear index, and compression index while handsheets from HW-BKP and white ledger no Increase except tear index. In Hobart mixer pre-treatment, HW-BKP and white ledger fibers were easily attached to the wall of the mixer bowl and mechanical action was not effectively applied. The fiber length of Hw-BKP and white ledger were 0.837mm and 1.591 mm, respectively, while SW-BKP and OCC were 2.744 mn and 2.033 mm, respectively, in weight weighted length. The effective mechanical pre-treatment seems to be related to the fiber length. Tear indexes of the pre-treated furnish were much higher than no pre-treatment at the same breaking length level.
