A Study on the Design Improvement of Street Facilities in Jeollabuk-do Province (전라북도 가로시설물의 디자인 제고를 위한 연구)

  • This study reveals the absence of standard design guidelines by region through investigation and analysis centered on public design cases by region in Jeollabuk-do and design elements that can reflect the integration, identity, and diversity of public design in each region by five regions. Through this, the following conclusions could be obtained. First, to improve the quality of street facilities in Jeollabuk-do, the design elements (design motif, color, pattern) applicable to the standard design were analyzed by dividing them into five regions. As a design motif, it was possible to extract patterns containing straight lines, sophistication, dignity, and smartness. In the Northeast region, it is comfortable with the motif of the mountain ridge reflecting geographical characteristics, and it can be extracted elements that contain warm and natural colors. In the southeastern region, patterns that reflect design elements were extracted by applying safe, lively, and peaceful colors with the design motif of curves that blend nature and agriculture. In the southwestern region, design pattern elements that highlight nature, history, and culture were extracted with various cultural assets and natural greenery as motifs. Lastly, in the Saemangeum region, the ocean flow and greenery could be used as a design motif to reflect a positive, clear, future-oriented image in the design spot zones by region. Second, based on the standard design elements (design motive, color, pattern) by region extracted for the standard design development of street facilities in each region in Jeollabuk-do, an integrated zone(Form, structure, material, color, functional element) to which regional design guidelines can be applied. Third, an integrated zone (form, structure, material, color, functional elements) was composed. In addition, design spot zones (patterns and colors in city and county units) that can contain the diversity and identity of each region were designated.   • Roadside greenery in the city is not only a means of reducing fine dust, but also an indispensable element of the city in various aspects such as improvement of urban thermal environment, noise reduction, ecosystem connectivity, and aesthetics. However, in studies dealing with the effect of reducing fine dust through trees in existing urban spaces, microscopic aspects such as the adsorption effect of plants were dealt with, structural changes such as the width of urban buildings and streets, and the presence or absence of trees, Impact studies that reflect the actual form of In this study, the effect of greenery composition applicable to urban space on PM2.5 was simulated through the microclimate epidemiologic model ENVI-met, and field measurements were performed in parallel to verify the results. In addition, by analyzing the results of fine dust background concentration, wind speed, and leaf area index, the sensitivity to major influencing variables was tested. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the fine dust reduction effect was the highest in the case with a high planting amount, and the reduction effect was the greatest at a low background concentration. Based on this, the cost of planting street green areas and the effect of reducing PM2.5 were compared. The results of this study can contribute as a basis for considering the effect of pedestrian space on air quality when planning and designing street green spaces.

A Study on the Development of Pattern and Design for Pet Dog's Wear (애완견 의상의 패턴과 디자인 개발 연구)

  • Pets (such as dogs) are considered as important as family members, this perspective is due to an aging population and the decreased size of the traditional nuclear family. The pet industry has been growing every year; subsequently, is useful to develop practical patterns and designs appropriate for the body structure and movement of pet dogs. However, studies to develop a new form of pet dog's wear patterns and designs are limited. This study develops a basic pattern that is easily used based on a pet dog's size, designs popular clothing items for pet dogs, and helps in the manufactures of pet dog's wear. The results are as follow: 1) Analyzed categories and popular items of pet dog's wear from the research of the prior studies and on-line pet dog shopping malls; three categories (everyday wear, street wear, and special wear) and six items (T-shirt, one-piece, coat, jumper, and dress, tuxedo). 2) Developed the basic bodice pattern and sleeve pattern after test-wearing and revising the experimental patterns referenced from prior studies. 3) Developed patterns and designs for six popular items based on situation and gender: one-piece (everyday wear), coat (street wear), wedding dress (special wear) for female dogs/T-shirt (everyday wear), hood jumper (street wear), tuxedo (special wear) for male dogs. 4) Developed the previous six items to illustrate the research results of the study.

Optimization of Heatsink and Analysis of Thermal Property in 75W LED Module for Street Lighting (75W급 LED 가로등 모듈의 방열판 최적화와 열특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we optimized and simulated the heatsink of 75W LED module for street lighting and evaluated the optical properties with the manufactured heatsink. the structure of LED package make simple as chip and heatslug and thermal flow is analyzed by using the FEM(Finite Element Method) with CFdesign V10. Also, we measured the temperature of heatsink and evaluated the optical properties with infrared thermal image camera and integrated sphere system for luminous flux in $1\;[m^3]$ box. As results, Heatsink optimized in 3 mm pin thickness, 6 mm base thickness and 16 number of pin count by using Heatsink-designer and got the results which is the temperature of $47.37\;[^{\circ}C]$ and thermal resistance of $0.48407\;[W/^{\circ}C]$. In thermal flow simulation, the temperature of heatsink decreased from $51.54\;[^{\circ}C]$ to $51.51\;[^{\circ}C]$ and the temperature of heatsink by the time in real measurement decreased from $47.03\;[^{\circ}C]$ to $46.87\;[^{\circ}C]$. Moreover, we improve 0.68 % in the decreased ratio of the luminous flux.

Fast and Accurate Visual Place Recognition Using Street-View Images

  • A fast and accurate building-level visual place recognition method built on an image-retrieval scheme using street-view images is proposed. Reference images generated from street-view images usually depict multiple buildings and confusing regions, such as roads, sky, and vehicles, which degrades retrieval accuracy and causes matching ambiguity. The proposed practical database refinement method uses informative reference image and keypoint selection. For database refinement, the method uses a spatial layout of the buildings in the reference image, specifically a building-identification mask image, which is obtained from a prebuilt three-dimensional model of the site. A global-positioning-system-aware retrieval structure is incorporated in it. To evaluate the method, we constructed a dataset over an area of $0.26km^2$. It was comprised of 38,700 reference images and corresponding building-identification mask images. The proposed method removed 25% of the database images using informative reference image selection. It achieved 85.6% recall of the top five candidates in 1.25 s of full processing. The method thus achieved high accuracy at a low computational complexity.

  • This paper carried out a variety of analysis for a finding out the causes of fire on the street lamp. The glass bulb of 250W metal-halide(MH) lamps attached with the impurities rose the temperature by at $410.4^{\circ}$ in normal condition. Therefore, a lamp apparatus is needed the improvement for ventilation and the protection against dust. The heat of MH lamps is diffused through out the luminous tube, a glass bulb, and apparatus by degrees. The accident cause of the lamp is presumed that the accumulated heat by deposits of the inner part. It will be recommended the improvement of the structure that aren't the external impurity and accumulated heat in the MH lamps set.

The Representation of Seong-An Streetscape in the 1960s' Cheongju (1960년대 청주 성안길 가로경관의 재현)

  • This study is aimed to represent the streetscape in 1960s' focused on Seong-An street of Cheong-ju through the existing business types and buildings, literature, photo details, and interview of the longest-term householders. Results of this study are as follows : Firstly, the types of 1st-floor shops were diverse with general merchandise, apparel, medical, bank, restaurant, and etc in 1960s'. The present shops of them are 'Dong-kwang lasa', 'Jung-geum dang', 'Cheong-ju pharmacy' including the existing 'the Korea development', 'Korea first', and 'Woori' bank. Secondly, the streetscape around post office looks just as it did in the old 1960s'. In the other section the present typical buildings are 'Namseon pharmacy ', 'Kukje department', 'Samyang shop', 'Daeyang shop', 'Park shop', and etc. These old 3-4story buildings are reinforced concrete in contrasted with the former wooden and masonry in structure, and converted in use and appearance. Thirdly, the streetscape of Seong-An is ultimately represented by presuming the other buildings and equipments through aerial and street photograph in the old 1960s'.

A Study on the Structure Style of Street Green Spaces on Port Island, Kobe, Japan (일본 고베시(神戶市) 포트아일랜드 가로녹지 구조 유형 연구)

  • This study was carried out to provide examples of planting methods for the construction of street green spaces with abundant greenery by analyzing road type, surrounding land use and planting structures in street green spaces on Port Island, Kobe, Japan. Port Island_(total area: 826ha) is a marine cultural city located in Japan's first artificial island with facilities of urban function and port facilities. The study site was designated at 11 plots of $55{\sim}285m^2$ on Port Island, and topography structure styles were divided into four types with mounding style, slope style, slope and flat style, flat style according to the adjacent roads width. The area adjacent to the middle roads with high levels of noise and pollution set up the mounding style, slope style, slope and flat style of multi-layer structures using topographic properties. The area adjacent to small roads focused on a green strip with shrubs on a flat style. Surrounding land-uses include a public institution, housing complex, and a commercial building. The planting concept was a buffer and landspace function in case of the middle road_(lane 4) while the small road_(lane 2) was a landspace function. Planting species were diverse with Liquidambe formosana, Cinnamomum camphora, Sapium sebiferum, Cedrela sinensis, Laeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus, Ginkgo biloba, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Zelkova serrata, Quercus glauca, Juniperus chinensis, Magnolia kobus, Rhododendron spp., Camellia japonica, Abelia mosanensis, etc. Planting density was 0.02~0.08(0.04) individual/$m^2$ at the canopy layer, 0.02~0.08(0.04) individual/$m^2$ at the understory layer. Ratio of green coverage was 40.0~173.7(93.0)% at the canopy layer, 2.1~79.8(34.9)% at the understory layer and 17.9~64.2(32.9)% at the shrub layer. $Gr{\ddot{u}}volumenzahl$ was $1.43{\sim}6.67(4.13)m^3/m^2$ at the canopy layer, $0.02{\sim}2.01(0.85)m^3/m^2$ at the understory layer and $0.14{\sim}0.58(0.26)m^3/m^2$ at the shrub layer. The ratio of green coverage of street green space on Port Island was higher than that of Seoul, and particularly, the ratio of green coverage and $gr{\ddot{u}}volumenzahl$ at the shrub layer differed, compared to the main street green space in Korea. The result of this study may be applicable to other coastal reclaimed cities in terms of setting methods for street greenery considering the topography structure, planting structure and planting function.

A study on the Transformation Process of Traditional Small City Structure in Jeollabuk-Do (근대(近代) 도시화(都市化)에 따른 전라도(全羅道) 전통(傳統) 소도읍(小都邑)의 공간구조변화과정(空間構造變化過程) 연구(硏究))

  • This study is to analyse the transformation process of spatial structure of traditional small city structure in Jeollabuk-Do in the process of modern urbanization between 19th century and the year 2000. The small cities, IM-PI, YONG-AN, YEO-SAN, OK-GOO, GO-SAN, MU-JANG, GUM-MA, GO-BU, which have been local administrative center in CHO-SUN dynasty, have role of local administrative center of subdivision of country-myon, except OK-GOO. The method of this study is to investigate the transformation process of spatial structural elements of with the actual field surveys, the analysis of Gunhyun map made in 1872, land registration maps in 1910s and 2000, and various topological maps. The elements of analysis are the topological site and geographical situation conditions, the urbanized areas, the street systems, the function of streets, the focal points of urban land use, the land use systems, and the location of major facilities such as administration facilities, markets, bus terminals. The analytical point of view and the results are as follows. There is strong relationship between the transformation of internal matrix route system and the growth pattern of urbanized areas, Especially on the contrary to the matrix route with East-West direction which has the role of checking the growth of urbanized area, the South-North direction route acts as the leading line of the growth. The focal points structure of urban land use shows transformation process from the point of central space of administrative district in front of Nae-A, to the access point to administrative district or to the access point to housing and neighborhood commercial area. From the point of functional area structure and major facilities location, line-type commercial area is developed along the line of central axis route and access route to administrative district. Especially direction of the growth of commercial area is strongly connected with the interrelationship between the study area and its neighboring cities. Pattern of commercial district development is varied with the direction of matrix route. That is, commercial district, which shows one side development pattern along the East-West direction route, is developed on both sides of street along the South-North direction route.
