  • 본 논문은 불평등 전계의 $SF_6/CO_2$혼합기체 중에서 전구방전특성에 대한 실험결과를 제시한다. 임펄스 전구방전 진전을 코로나 전류와 방전광 이미지의 측정으로 조사하였다. 정 부극성의 전구방전 진전메커니즘은 기본적으로 같았으며, 초기스트리머코로나는 침전극의 끝단에서 발단되어 계단상으로 진전하는 리더에 의해 시험갭을 교락시킨다. 정극성에서 리더펄스의 휴지시간은 부극성에서보다 매우 짧았다. 또한 부극성에서 초기스트리머코로나와 절연파괴사이의 시간간격은 정극성에서보다 매우 길게 나타났다. 정극성에서 방전채널경로는 임의적으로 나타났으며, 부극성에서 리더 채널은 정극성에서 보다 굵고 밝게 나타났다.

  • The frequency of lightning is increased due to improbable weather condition and global wanning. This phenomenon increases economical damage as well as human damage. Advanced countries like europe and north america have applied the facility standard of lightning by accumulating a store of quantitative data about lightning research. Lightning facility is composed of the lightning accepting part for induction lightning, ground connected electrode which conducts lightning current. The lightning accepting part is composed of normal rod, horizontal conductor, ESE lightning rod. Moreover, lightning accepting part is taken to use by the method of protection. This paper suggests HEC(Hybrid ESE-Conductor) method which mixes horizontal conductor and ESE lightning rod. This is also discovered by experiment that the starting point of corona discharge current is low, so it is efficient for lightning protection comparing with other methods. Moreover, distribution of electric field is analyzed qualitatively by finite element method. It also results in the relation of the starting point of corona discharge current. Corona discharge current makes minute current about some ${\mu}A$ between the electrodes by the strength of electric field. Also it occurs insulation destruction of gas, and it is developed to the shape of streamer by increase of the strength of electric field. We can find that the initial occurrence of streamer and contact probability of lightning can have advantage after researching the starting point of corona discharge current and discharge current of lightning striking point. This research demonstrates that the suggested HEC method is economically competitive as a lightning protection facility, and it takes a capably perfect role.

  • This paper describes characteristic of ozone Generation by positive streamer corona discharge.   • 이 논문은 반구형 수조에 설치되어 있는 침전극과 구형전극에 표준뇌임펄스전압을 인가하였을 때 나타나는 수중 방전현상과 절연파괴특성을 나타낸다. 이 논문의 목적은 뇌서지에 대한 과도접지임피던스와 관련된 기본적인 특성을 파악하는데 있다. 인가전압의 극성과 물의 저항률에 따른 방전광을 촬영하였고 절연파괴전압의 의존성을 측정하였다. 침전극과 구형전극의 끝단에서 스트리머코로나가 발생하였고 접지된 수조를 향하여 단계적으로 진전하였다. 저항률에 따른 절연파괴전압은 V자 형태를 나타내며, 구형전극의 절연파괴전압-시간곡선이침전극보다 높게 나타났다.

  • There are a number of small scale application fields of ozone, such as food conservation and/or storage in refrigerators, containers and storage rooms, deodorization in the production and living areas, protection against biohazards, bleaching of fabrics, etc. For these applications, miniaturization, ozone controllability and costdown of the ozonizer are the most essential points, whereas power efficiency is the most imporant factor in the case of a large scale ozonizer used in various industrial applications. It has been developed a novel sawtooth-to-cylinder type micro-ozonizer meeting above the three points by using a negative pulse corona discharge. As a result of the observations of pulse coronas affecting ozone generation, it is found that the maximum ozone concentration is generated at the pulse streamer coronas in both positive and negative case. The ozone concentration (20ppm/2l/min) generated by the negative pulse corona is about 2 times higher than that of the positive pulse corona, and could be controllable linearly by adjusting the dc input voltage of the [supply-inth ] cinventional small scale ozonizers. As a result, the present ozonizer is also very good to be used as a micro-ozonizer.

  • This paper presents the results of laboratory experimentals to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ by a pulsed corona discharge in the wire-plate reactor. A rotating spark gap switch was used to generate the pulse by chewing the dc high voltage. Repetition frequency of the pulse was 60Hz and rising time of 50ns. The photo pictures of positive streamer corona taken by ICCD camera, pulse voltage and current were measured using a digital oscilloscope. Simultaneous effects of $C_{2}H_{4}$ injection and heterogeneous chemical reactions on nonthermal plasma process to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ from flue gas were investigated in the present study

  • The discharge processes in electro-negative gases with non-uniform field gape are composed of the formation of pulsed streamer corona, the transition of the streamers into leader step, the temporal development of the leader channel, and the stepped propagation of leader through the gap. In this paper, the first corona inception characteristics in $SF_6$ gas and $SF_{6}-N_{2}$ mixtures, related to the propagation of loader and the space charge effect, were experimentally investigated with positive and negative transient impulse voltages.

  • This paper deals with the dielectric behaviors of $SF_{6}$ gas and prebreakdown growth caused by lightning impulse voltages in inhomogeneous field perturbed with a fixed needle-shaped protrusion on the electrode. The measuring interpretation of the external current induced by moving charges is described. The temporal growth of prebreakdown is obserbed by using a shunt and photomultiplier. The prebreakdown processes are initiated by the first streamer corona at a needle protrustion, the flashover of the main gap in the positive polarity is very sensitive to the local field and propagates into the gap with the leader mechanism. It is found that the dependence of the prebreakdown phenomena on the polarity of applied voltages is caused by the effect of space charges. In addition, the proposed measuring techniques are very useful to perform the measurements of avalanche currents, corona discharges in inhomogeneous fields ad partial discharges in voids.

Comparison of Coronal Electron Density Distributions from MLSO/MK4 and SOHO/UVCS

  • The coronal electron density is a fundamental and important physical quantity in solar physics for estimating coronal magnetic fields and analyzing solar radio bursts. To check a validation of coronal electron density distributions (CEDDs) from polarized brightness (pB) measurements with Van de Hulst inversions, we compare CEDDs derived from a polarized brightness (pB) observation [MLSO/MK4 coronameter] and one spectroscopic observation [SOHO/UVCS]. For this, we consider data observed in 2005 with the following conditions: (1) the observation time differences from each other are less than 1 minutes; and (2) O VI doublet (O VI $1031.9{\AA}$ and $1037.6{\AA}$) is well identified. In the pB observation, the CEDDs can be estimated by using Van de Hulst inversion methods. In the spectroscopic observation, we use the ratio of radiative and collisional components of the O VI doublet to estimate the CEDDs. We find that the CEDDs obtained from pB measurements are higher than those based on UVCS observations at the heights between 1.6 and 1.8 Rs (${\times}1.9$ for coronal streamer, 1.2 ~ 1.8 for background corona, and 1.5 for coronal hole), while they are lower than those based on UVCS at the heights between 1.9 and 2.6 Rs (${\times}0.1{\sim}0.6$ for coronal streamer, 0.5 ~ 0.7 for background corona, and 0.6 for coronal hole). The CEDDs of coronal streamers are higher than those of background corona at the between 1.6 and 2.0 Rs: ${\times}1.2{\sim}2.4$ for MK4 and 1.5 ~ 1.9 for UVCS.

  • Since the concept for the ozone generation using a nonequilibrium electric discharge techniques had been proposed by Siemens, some experimental and theoretical studies on the ozone generation by streamer corona discharge, surface discharge and silent discharge have been performed. In this paper some results on the discharge characteristics of the silent discharge gap with various dielectric materials were reported. Dielectric materials used in this study were pyrex glass, quartz and glass beefs with diameter of 1 mm.
