Pohang earthquake (Main shock magnitude = 5.4) occurred in Southeastern region of South Korea in November 15, 2017. Groundwater levels of 6 monitoring wells with 5 minutes interval measurements located in that region and stream water levels of 4 stations located along the Hyeongsan-gang stream are used for the analysis of earthquake induced effects. Four groundwater monitoring wells show a short-term decrease of groundwater level after a main shock and one well does an increase and the maximum change is about 42.0 cm. Especially, groundwater levels at two monitoring wells near the epicenter are consistently maintained after a decrease. There is little relationship between earthquake magnitude or a distance to epicenter and changing amount of groundwater level and it may be due to the inhomogeneity of geologic material and unconsolidated sediments distribution. The changes in permeability of fractured zone and groundwater levels occasionally cause changes in stream flow rate, and water level of the Hyeongsan-gang stream in the study area decreases just after the earthquake and increases again up to the normal level and next shows an more gentle decreasing slope. Total increasing flow rates at S1 (upstream site) and S4 (downstream site) stations are about $12,096m^3$ and $116,640m^3$, respectively, during the increasing period.

The characteristics of delivered nutrient loads were analyzed and the regression equations to estimate delivery ratios of nutrients (TN and TP) were developed using HSPF simulation results at six subwatersheds within the Bochung A unit watershed during 1998-2007. TN delivery ratio was higher than TP delivery ratio because significant amounts of TP was considered to be attached at soil as ${PO_4}^-$ during delivery process from discharged point of nutrient source to main stream. As a results of correlation analysis, factors related to geomorphic characteristics had not statistical correlation with TN and TP delivery ratios. TN loading rate from living and specific stream flow had statistical negative and positive correlation, respectively, with TN delivery ratio. TP loading rates from all sources and from land cover and specific stream flow had statistical negative, negative and positive correlation, respectively. The specific stream flow represents the most strong correlation with nutrient delivery ratios. The regression equations to estimate delivery ratios for TN and TP were developed by including statistical correlated factors and showed high efficiency of 0.98 and 0.95 of coefficient of determination for TN and TP, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of riverbed variation due to the sediment protection weir located on the estuary of the main stream of Taehwa river using I-D finite difference model, HEC-6 model, and the followings are the results of estimating sediment transport rate, amount of scour or deposition, and accumulated amount of deposit according to before and after of the sediment protection weir removal with various flow rates in the channel. Ackers-White transport function produced the greatest sediment transport rate while Meyer-Peter showed the smallest sediment transport rate at the most down stream area of the watershed through the sediment transport rate analyses for various flow rates according to the existence or nonexistence of the sediment protection weir. Toffaleti's and Colby transport function were closest to the average value, and the difference among the results of the sediment transport functions showed up to 8~9 times. Duboy's transport function produced the greatest riverbed variation while Toffaleti's showed the smallest variation through the riverbed variation analyses according to the existence or nonexistence of the sediment protection weir. Yang's was closest to the average value, and the difference among the results of the riverbed variation analyses ranged from 1.4 times to 11 times. It is thought that a sediment transport function must be selected very carefully with respect to the criteria of sediment yield estimation because the analysis results of the sediment transport rate and riverbed variation according to flow rates showed significant differences among the sediment transport functions, and the differences of sediment transport rate and riverbed variation according to the various sediment transport functions decreased as the flow rate increased.
We drew the stage-discharge relations of Byeokgye Stream, located in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and analysed the correlation between items of water pollutants by measuring the flow rate and water pollutants thirty-four times from April 2010 to December 2010. The results showed that it tended to be low water season from April to June and from October and December, while tending to be water season from July to September. The average flow rate was $2.137\;m^3/sec:\;0.464\;m^3/sec$ in low water season and $13.970\;m^3/sec$ in high water season. The stage-discharge curve thereon was $Q=40.107{\times}(h-1.200)^{2.877}$. As to the correlations, the correlation between the water temperature and COD was 0.58, and the correlations of SS with BOD and COD were 0.46 and 0.40 respectively. The correlation between SS and T-P was 0.73, showing higher than other items.

The present study developed a new technique with no physical object on the flow stream but enabling the air flow measurement and easily incorporated with the devices for cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) procedure. A turbulence chamber was formed in the middle of the respiratory tube by locally enlarging the cross-sectional area where the flow related turbulence was generated inducing energy loss which was in turn converted into pressure difference. The turbulence chamber was simply an empty enlarged air space, thus no physical object existed on the flow stream, but still the flow rate could be evaluated. Computer simulation demonstrated stable turbulence formation big enough to measure. Experiment was followed on the proto-type transducer, the results of which were within ${\pm}5%$ error compared to the simulation data. Both inspiratory and expiratory flows were obtained with symmetric measurement characteristics. Quadratic curve fitting provided excellent calibration formula with a correlation coefficient>0.999(P<0.0001) and the mean relative error<1%. The present results can be usefully applied to accurately monitor the air flow rate during CPR.
Even small changes in phosphorus concentrations in stream water could cause eutrophication because of very low level of phosphorus concentrations in natural waters. I investigated the impact of strip cut and clear cut on phosphorus concentrations in stream water at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest and investigated stream water phosphorus concentrations as a function of flow rate and season (as well as cutting history). Mean phosphate concentrations in the control (undisturbed forest) increased $1.9{\mu}g\;L^{-1}\;to\;2.6{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$, while strip cut treatment increased phosphate concentrations in stream water $2.2{\mu}g\;L^{-1}\;to\;3.7{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ during the same period. There was no significant effect of clear cut treatment on phosphate concentrations in stream water. No relationships were found between discharge rate and phosphate concentrations, but the magnitude of fluctuation were increased during two decades in undisturbed forest: $1-5{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ from 1963 to 1975 and $1-12{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ from 1983 to 1995. Based on this study, forest harvests with buffer zone will not make a problem by imported phosphate to cause eutrophication in natural water.

Two dimensional slow viscous flow around two counter-rotating equal cylinders is Investigated based on Stokes' approximation. An exact formal expression of the stream function is obtained by using the bipolar cylinder coordinates and Fourier series expansion. From the stream function obtained, the streamline patterns around the cylinders are shown and the pressure distribution In the flow field is determined. By Integrating the stress distribution on the cylinder, the force and the moment exerted on the cylinder are calculated. The flow rate through the gap between the two cylinders is determined as the distance between two cylinders vary. It Is also revealed that the velocity at the far field has finite non-zero value. Special attention is directed to the case of very small distances between two cylinders by way of the lubrication theory.
This study presents the new idea of liquid desiccant system with extended surface to reduce the system size. The extended surface is inserted between vertical cooling/heating tubes to increase the mass transfer area, and the liquid desiccant flows through the tube wall and the extended surface. Mathematical models for heat and mass transfer between liquid desiccant and air stream at tube wall and extended surface are provided. Dimensionless design parameters governing heat and mass transfer phenomena around the tube and the extended surface are identifier, and dimensionless operating parameters depicting system operating condition including flow rate ratio between dehumidification/regeneration processes, and mass flow rate ratio between air stream and liquid desiccant are explained. The effects of the parameters on system performance are summarized.
The rivulet is a narrow stream of liquid flowing down a solid surface. Heat transfer of rivulet flow over on inclined heated surface has been investigated experimentally. This problem is of particular interest in the understanding of fundamental mechanism on rivulet heat transfer as well as in the design of a regenerative evaporative cooler. The rivulet is seem to be meandering flow, single wide flat flow. and film flow as rivulet flow rate is increased. Even though the wetted surface area is increased with an increase in the rivulet flow rate, the absorbed heat transfer of rivulet flow from a heated surface strongly depends on the flow pattern of rivulet.

In nuclear power plants, the flow rate information is a major indicator of the performance of rotating equipment such as pumps, and is a very important one required for facility operation and maintenance. To measure a flow rate, various types of methods have been developed and used. Among them, the differential pressure type using orifice and the direct doppler type using ultrasonic waves are the most commonly used. However, these flow rate measurement methods have limitations in installation, conditions and status of the measuring part, etc. To solve this problem, we have studied a new technique for measuring flow rate from scratch. In this paper, we have devised a technique to estimate the flow rate using an average moving velocity of large-scale eddy in turbulence that occurs in the piping flow field. The velocity of the large-scale eddy can be measured using the pressure fluctuation signals on the inner surface of the pipe. To estimate the flow rate, at first a cross-correlation function is applied to the two pressure fluctuation signals located at different positions in the down stream for calculating the time delay between the moving eddies. In order to validate the proposed flow rate estimation method, CFD analyses for the internal turbulence flow in pipe are conducted with a fixed flow condition, where the pressure fluctuation signals on the pipe inner surface are simulated. And then the average flow velocity of the large scale eddy is to be estimated. The estimated flow velocity is turned out to be similar to the fixed (known) flow rate.
