  • This paper suggests the design and operation of value stream mapping(VSM) applied to project management, such as R&D, IT Investment. First this study represents design methodology of VSM process using SIPOC(Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Costumer). Second, this paper considers the identification and improvement plan about non-added value time for VSM using FPC(Flow Process Chart) and PERT/CPM. Last, this paper proposes VSM scheduling method using PERT/CPM and CCPM(Critical Chain Project Management)

  • This paper describes a recent development on the divergence free basis function based on a hermite stream function. The well-known cavity problem has been used to compare the accuracy and the convergence of the present method with those of a modified residual method known as one of the stabilized finite element methods. The comparison showed the present method performs better in the accuracy and convergence.

  • The impact of the input and output probability distributions on the performance of neural networks to forecast two year peak stream flow (cubic meters per second) is examined for two major river basins of the US. The neural network input consisted of drainage area(square kilometers ) and elevation (meters). When data are normally distributed , the neural networks predict much better than when the data are non-normal and have larger tails in their distributions.

  • In this study, flood influence analysis in the downstream of Sung-Ju dam was simulated using HEC-RAS model. Input data for the simulation was which measured water level, water velocity, stream section etc. HEC-RAS model could be applied to steady flow or gradually varied flow in natural or artificial stream. HEC-RAS model which can simulate real-time changing water level and compute water surface curve was supplied to show the standard influent amount of Sung-Ju dam. Through this study the submerged damage of Sung-Ju dam's downstream would be minimized.

  • Important characteristics of impinging sprays intersected by a strongly convective gaseous cross flows were experimentally investigated. The breakup processes due to different Weber and Reynolds numbers of liquid and gas streams were visually examined with quantitative measurements of breakup lengths, penetration heights, and droplet sizes. Snapshot images and spay data evidenced that, at lower jet Reynolds number the breakup processes portrays the atomization profiles similar to typical column breakup of single orifice jet. At higher jet Reynolds numbers, disintegration of jet stream is significantly expedited by strong momentum transported from strongly convective gaseous stream. The breakup length and penetration height decreased as the convective flow increase. From the bottom the wall up, the SMD measured the centerline increase. The maximum SMD appeared the top of the SMD distribution

  • All of the hydraulic spool valves adopt radially grooved spools to avoid hydraulic locking. In this paper, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT is used to investigate the accurate Poiseuille flow characteristics inside single groove. The stream lines, velocity and pressure distributions are obtained for various groove widths, depths and shapes. The stream lines are highly affected by groove shape and there occurred large vortexes inside groove beyond a certain ratio of groove width to depth. Especially the U shaped groove restrains the occurrence of vortex. Therefore the numerical method adopted in this paper can be use in optimum designing of multi-grooved hydraulic spool valves.

  • Comprehensive experimental works are carried out for the optimal design of a centrifugal blower adopted in an indoor unit of an air-conditioner. The models for consideration are typical multi-blade turbo blower and limit loaded one, respectively. The main interest lies on the fluid dynamics performance when the blower Is installed in the practical system. The methodologies are an experimental estimations with a wind tunnel for blower performance and PIV measurement for the detail flow information. A centrifugal blower with limit loaded fan shows pronounced performances in terms of the flow rate and static pressure rise and the reason is explained by the precise measurement of the flows between blades using PIV. Consequently, it is found that the blower is proper for the flows with a resistance in down stream such as a heat exchanger.

  • Many flight bodies are essentially imposed in gradually accelerating and decelerating free streams during taking-off and landing processes. However, the wing aerodynamics occurring in such a stream have not yet been investigated in detail. The objective of the present study is to make clear the aerodynamic characteristics of an aerofoil placed in the accelerating and decelerating free stream conditions. A computational analysis is carried out to solve the unsteady, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations which are discretized using a fully implicit finite volume method. Computational results are employed to reveal the major characteristics of the aerodynamics over the gradually accelerating aerofoil wings.
