  • Database outsourcing is unavoidable in the near future. In the scenario of data stream outsourcing, the data owner continuously publishes the latest data and associated authentication information through a service provider. Clients may register queries to the service provider and verify the result's correctness, utilizing the additional authentication information. Research on On-line Stream Analytics (OLSA) is motivated by extending the data cube technology for higher multi-level abstraction on the low-level-abstracted data streams. Existing work on OLSA fails to consider the issue of database outsourcing, while previous work on stream authentication does not support OLSA. To close this gap and solve the problem of OLSA query authentication while outsourcing data streams, we propose MDAHRB and MDAHB, two multi-dimensional authentication approaches. They are based on the general data model for OLSA, the stream cube. First, we improve the data structure of the H-tree, which is used to store the stream cube. Then, we design and implement two authentication schemes based on the improved H-trees, the HRB- and HB-trees, in accordance with the main stream query authentication framework for database outsourcing. Along with a cost models analysis, consistent with state-of-the-art cost metrics, an experimental evaluation is performed on a real data set. It exhibits that both MDAHRB and MDAHB are feasible for authenticating OLSA queries, while MDAHRB is more scalable.

  • Achieving efficient authentication is a crucial issue for stream data commonly seen in content delivery, peer-to-peer, and multicast/broadcast networks. Stream authentication mechanisms need to be operated efficiently at both sender-side and receiver-side at the same time because of the properties of stream data such as real-time and delay-sensitivity. Until now, many stream authentication mechanisms have been proposed, but they are not efficient enough to be used in stream applications where the efficiency for sender and receiver sides are required simultaneously since most of them could achieve one of either sender-side and receiver-side efficiency. In this paper, we propose an efficient stream authentication mechanism, so called TIM, by integrating Trapdoor Hash Function and Merkle Hash Tree. Our construction can support efficient streaming data processing at both sender-side and receiver-side at the same time differently from previously proposed other schemes. Through theoretical and experimental analysis, we show that TIM can provide enhanced performance at both sender and receiver sides compared with existing mechanisms. Furthermore, TIM provides an important feature for streaming authentication, the resilience against transmission loss, since each data block can be verified with authentication information contained in itself.

  • We propose an efficient stream authentication scheme using tree authentication. To reduce the computation cost of the sender, we design the authentication tree whose height is very short. We appropriately distribute authentication information over packets so the receiver can verify data with high probability. Moreover, we provide mathematical analysis on the verification probability. For the proposed scheme and previous schemes, we measured the elapsed time for generating authentication information and the proposed scheme has equal to or slightly larger than that of GM's scheme, which has the lowest computation overhead. We performed simulations, which show that the verification probability of the proposed scheme is much higher than that of any other scheme.

  • In order to combat the security threats that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography protocol is implemented at sensor nodes for point-to-point encryption between nodes. Given that nodes have limited resources, symmetric cryptography that is proven to be efficient for low power devices is implemented. Data protection is integrated into a sensor's packet by the means of symmetric encryption with the Dragon stream cipher and incorporating the newly designed Dragon-MAC Message Authentication Code. The proposed algorithm was designed to employ some of the data already computed by the underlying Dragon stream cipher for the purpose of minimizing the computational cost of the operations required by the MAC algorithm. In view that Dragon is a word based stream cipher with a fast key stream generation, it is very suitable for a constrained environment. Our protocol regarded the entity authentication and message authentication through the implementation of authenticated encryption scheme in wireless sensor nodes.

  • The paper describes the implementation of the video conferencing system using public key infrastructure which is used for user authentication and media stream encryption. Using public key infrastructure, we are able to reinforce the authentication for conference participant and block several malicious hacking while protecting conference control information. The paper shows the implementation of the transportation layer secure protocol in conformity with Korea public key authentication algorithm standard and symmetric key encryption algorithm (RC2, SEED, DES and 3DES) for media stream encryption. The feature of the paper is transportation layer secure protocol that is implemented for protection of information on a user authentication and video conference and the media streaming encryption algorithm also can be envisioned with another block encryption algorithm. The key for media streaming encryption may be safely distributed by the transportation layer secure protocol.

  • We propose an efficient one-time signature scheme for stream authentication by improving HORS. When one-time signatures are used for authenticating live streams, one of the most serious drawbacks is that its large signature size yields high communication overhead. Compared with the previous one-time signature schemes, proposed scheme has the smallest signature size. Moreover, verification overhead is very low. Compared with the previous schemes for stream authentication, signing overhead of our scheme is larger than that of HORS but much lower than those of BiBa or Powerball. Moreover, signing operation can be trivially parallelized without any additional risk because it does not require sharing of the secret key between distributed servers.

  • This paper describes the implementation of H.235 protocol for authentication and media stream encryption of multimedia conference systems. H.235 protocol is recommended by ITU-T for H.323 multimedia conference security protocol to prevent from being eavesdropped and modified by an illegal attacker. The implementation in this paper has used password-based with symmetric encryption authentication. Media streams are encrypted using the Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm and symmetric encryption algorithms such as RC2, DES and Triple-DES. Also, 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard and 128-bit Korean standard SEED algorithms are implemented for the future extension. The implemented authentication and media stream encryption has shown that it is possible to identify terminal users without exposing personal information on networks and to preserve security of multimedia conference. Also, encryption delay time and used memory are not increased even though supporting media stream encryption/decryption, thus the performance of multimedia conference system has not deteriorated.

  • User authentication has been one of the most important part of the network system. OTP(One-Time Password) has been developed and applied to the existing authentication system. OTP makes a different password and abrogates used password each time when user is authenticated by the server. Those systems prevent stolen-key-problems which is caused by using the same key every log-in trial. Yet, OTP still has vulnerabilities. In this paper, an advanced protocol which is using clock-count method to apply a stream cipher algorithm to OTP protocols and to solve problems of existing OTP protocols is proposed.

  • As the growth of internet and the diffusion of wide multimedia applications are increased, the ownership verification and authentication in communication channel for a digital image become more important. For these purpose there are many watermarking scheme available for image, video stream and audio data. In this paper we studied on techniques for integrity and authentication of digital images and proposed new watermarking algorithm. The proposed algorithm is implemented in C language on IBM-PC and the test results are shown.
