  • To identify the effect of geology and land use, the hydrogeochemical and multivariate statitstical analysis were executed for stream water collected in headwater region of Daecheong reservoir. Hydrogeochemical analysis was showed the effect of weathering process such as dissolution of calc-silicate minerals to hydrochemistry of stream water with contrasting geology. Cluster and principal components analysis can also help to identify the source of dissolved components in stream water.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the physical, chemical, and structural characteristics of the stream, especially Mugeo and Yeochon which are being changed to ecological stream by Ulsan city, and to acquire the considerations such as the planning element and plan criteria of the streams for making ecological stream system. Water quality, water quantity, vegetation, in stream structures and facilities, and land usage of the streams were investigated and the build up capabilities of ecological stream for the two streams were also analyzed. Planning elements for restoration to ecological stream included physical and biological purification methods in water quality, short term water acquire alternatives in water quantity, and vegetation recovery plan and improvement of habitation environment in ecological system, respectively. Planing elements in physical structures and facilities also included recovery of concrete levee and removal and recovery of covered channel.

  • In this paper, it is key issue about analysis of characteristics processing of digital random output stream of hardware random number generator, which is applied in medical area. The output stream of random number generator based on hardware binary random number is effected from factors such as delay, jitter, temperature, and so on. In this paper, it presents about major factor, which effects hardware output random number stream, and the randomness of output stream data, which are combined output stream and postprocessing data such as encryption algorithm, encoding algorithm, is analyzed. the analyzed results are evaluated by major test items of randomness.

  • This study was attempted to check period of a fashion cycle and to suggest its main-stream and sub-stream by analyzing the fashion trends presented in Vogue Korea between 1997 and 2002. A content analysis method was used to analyze 24 volumes. The result showed that the fashion trend of 1997's was a turning point from the simplicity, which was a trend up to 1996's, to the romanticism. The fashion trends of 2002 seemed to be also a turning point from the new-romanticism which was added the hippism to the romanticism continued from 1997, to the sporticism. The result confirmed that the main-stream of fashion theme have been continued for 5 years as a regular cycle system and could be repeated. It also verified that some sub-stream which was affected by social, cultural and political situation led the fashion changes. The results of this study could be expected to reflect not only fashion design, merchandising and marketing strategy but also consumer purchase behavior of the future.

  • "Drifting cups on a meandering stream" is a same originating from the ancient China. It takes advantage of the stopover of the cup at the different positions on a meandering stream to choose a person sitting on the bank to participate the game. In this paper, a model is devised to make the cups move around or stop at some place on the stream as required by the game. A typical flow field Is abstracted and studied using the PIV technique and the topological analysis. Some motions of the cup on the stream have been explained in the mechanics theory.

  • The monthly water quality data measured at 19 stations located in the Sapkyo reservoir watershed were clustered into 2 to 7 clusters and factor analysis was conducted to characterize the water quality, using the information obtained from cluster analysis. The result of cluster analysis shows that Sapkyo reservoir and each stream (Sapkyo stream, Muhan stream and Kokkyo stream) in Sapkyo reservoir watershed hove their own water quality characteristics. The result of water quality analysis indicates that the concentration of suspended solids from Sapkyo reservoir is much higher than those of other streams, and which is probably because of increment of phytoplankton biomass with rich nutrient flowing Into Sapkyo reservoir from the upper stream of watershed. Furthermore, the concentrations of biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand were 3.5 to 4.8 times and 1.7 to 2.5 times those of other streams, respectively. The overall water quality of Sapkyo reservoir watershed was considered to exceed eutrophic condition. Based on factor analysis, the water quality characteristics of Sapkyo stream and Muhan stream were closely related with farm land and residence. The water quality of Kokkyo stream was influenced by superabundant organic matter flowing from Chonan city and district wastewater treatment plant located in the upper stream of Kokkyo stream. The water quality factor influencing Sapkyo reservoir was closely related with water quality factors of other three streams.

  • Physico-chemical water quality parameters and the phytoplankton communities from 12 sites in Oship-stream, Songchunstream, and Namdae-stream, located Gyeongsangbukdo Uljin-gun, Yeongdeok-gun, and Pyeonghae-eup respectively, were investigated from April 2009 to February 2010. Oship-stream, which is an open estuary, was easily affected by ocean current compared to that of Songchun-stream and Namdae-stream. OS3 and OS4 conductivity was higher with a season average of 3,397 ${\mu}s/cm$. The streams were mesotrophic to hypertrophic. Biological oxygen demand (BOD) was about 3mg/L, which was level 2 on the water quality ratings, but a concentration of 5mg/L in April 2009 indicated increased pollution due to drought. A total of 118, 117, and 124 phytoplankton taxa were found in Oship-stream, Songchun-stream, and Namdae-stream, respectively. The apparent dominant species in the polluted waters included Cryptomonas ovata, Fragilaria construens var. venter, Oscillatoria limnetica, O. limosa, and Phormidium tenue. All of Oship-stream, SC2 and SC4 of Songchun-stream, and ND3 of Namdae-stream were eutrophic as a result of standing crop analysis. BOD was highly correlated with chlorophyll-a content(r=0.52). Phosphorus concentration and proliferation of phytoplankton were thought to most affect BOD concentration in all three streams.

  • Researches using DEM are actively progressed in field of water resource, and especially the extraction of watershed and stream based on topographic and hydrologic analysis, is widely used in GIS analysis recently. However, because it is extracted that watershed which is type of sliver polygon and stream which is type of straight line in low topographic region, they're not efficient for application. This study determined buffer zone from stream and tried smooth elevation change to buffer zone in order to efficiently extract abnormal watershed and stream being occurred in low topographic region. Especially, we applied equal-distance assignment model using Voronoi Diagram to determine smooth elevation change. Also, we extracted watershed and stream using stream recognition DEM and origional DEM, and evaluated the efficiency of research through comparing the shape of watershed and stream in low topographic region.

  • The effects of salmon carcasses on forest and stream ecosystems were determined by nitrogen stable isotope analysis in natural streams in Hokkaido, Northern Japan, where numerous chum salmon (Oncoryhncus keta) were migrated upstream ITom ocean to spawn in autumn. The leaves and soils surrounding riparian forest and stream dwelling invertebrates were collected before and after migration. The nitrogen stable isotope ratio $({\delta}^{15}N)$ of riparian vegetation (Salix spp.) were different depending on the presence of salmon and distance from the stream. The $({\delta}^{15}N)$ of stream dwelling invertebrates were different between salmon present and absent stream. This difference was tested using the experiment channel by implanting salmon carcasses. The nitrogen stable isotope ratio of epilithic algae and leaf shredding animals were nearly 3 higher in the salmon implanted treatment suggesting that around 20% of salmon derived nitrogen was uptake either in algae and leaf shredding invertebrates. These results suggest that the salmon carcasses effects not only on stream primary production but also on primary consumers, which decompose leaves fertilized with nitrogen from carcasses.
