  • This paper studied the performance of momentum strategy and contrarian strategy based or past stock return ratio of Korean stock market. The comparative study shows that the volatility of stock markets that can be found the performance of momentum strategy is smaller than that of emerging stock market. Accordingly, This paper examines that the performances of momentum strategy and contrarian strategy are affected by the larger volatility in Korean stock market. Further analysis using the 6 years sub-portfolios reveals that the momentum strategy is significant only during 1980 to 1986 time period when it had the least market volatility. Additionally, we investigate whether firm-level volatility as well as market volatility influence on the performance of contrarian strategy, and figure out that the momentum strategy is significant for the portfolio composed of firms with smaller volatility for previous period, while not significant for the portfolio composed of firms with larger volatility.

  • We study an optimization problem for hyperbolic absolute risk aversion (HARA) utility function under two-factor Heston's stochastic volatility model. It is not possible to obtain an explicit solution because our financial market model is complicated. However, by using asymptotic analysis technique, we find the explicit forms of the approximations of the optimal value function and the optimal strategy for HARA utility function.

  • Availability of reliable and affordable energy supply is a prerequisite for economic growth. Renewables are the third largest contributor to global electricity production after coal and natural gas and account for a share of 18%. Power generating capacity from renewables has increased to around 900GW by the year 2007. Today biodiesel fuels have been in commercial use in many countries and recently the world-wide biodiesel market has experienced considerable growth, which is partly due to various tax concession programs and other financial incentives. In Korea, biodiesel has already been used for transportation fuel, but not used for power generation fuel yet. Korean government has a strategy for renewable energy propagation, especially the goal of power generation amount by renewable energy is 3% of total power production by 2012. This paper focuses on the feasibility study for adaptability and strategy of using biodiesel as power generation fuel. The study also has the plan to replace the fuel of thermal power plant, gas turbine and distributed power system. As the increase of biodiesel fuel, I look forward to environment-friendly power generation and the strategy of Renewable Portfolio Standards(RPS).

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the financial performance according to the economic environment change. The data of 4,577 households in 2003 and 3994 households in 2000 is from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study. The data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as frequency, mean-test, Duncan's multiple range test, k-mean cluster analysis. Findings were as follows; First, the classified household financial strategy types were Residual(44.3%), Financial Assets(24.0%), Informal Institutional(19.7%), Diversified Portfolio(7.6%), Real Estate(4.5%). Second, the criteria of classification of the financial strategies were relative, not absolute. Third, the rate of economic growth was high and the index of the current money was low in 2000. Fourth, households that employed a diversified portfolio strategy had the greatest net wealth.

  • The objectives of this study are to observe the theoretical background of brand extension, to compare & analyze the cases of brand extension in Domestic and abroad based on the existing studies to present the characteristics of brand extension strategies, and to contribute to the establishment of marketing strategies of brand portfolio for the globalization of national brands. As for the methods of research, literature review and case study were combined. As a result of the case analysis, fashion business possessing a lot of brands have powerful competitiveness when they consider the brands as one unit and manage them with definition and insight to produce mutual synergy. Given that brand environment is being complicated and diversified with market segmentation, brand extension, various product groups, numbers of competitors, and complex distribution structure, the hierarchical structure of brand may have even more significance as a strategy.

  • In this paper, we investigate the portfolio optimization problem under the SVCEV model, which is a hybrid model of constant elasticity of variance (CEV) and stochastic volatility, by taking into account of minimum-entropy robustness. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation is derived and the first two orders of optimal strategies are obtained by utilizing an asymptotic approximation approach. We also derive the first two orders of practical optimal strategies by knowing that the underlying Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is not observable. Finally, we conduct numerical experiments and sensitivity analysis on the leading optimal strategy and the first correction term with respect to various values of the model parameters.

  • This paper pretends to study the potentialities of feedback, particularly in the development of a written report in two phases and in portfolio; and the main difficulties that teachers has to face concerning this assessment practice. Through a meta-analysis concerning different studies, it is possible to say that oral or written feedback, intentionally provided to students of several ages, may enable them to develop their self-assessment capacity and to get close of the expected product. However, the type of student and his or her perceptions may influence the effectiveness of feedback. Even for experience teachers, this practice maintains complex.

  • This paper studies optimal consumption and investment behaviors of an individual when risky asset returns and her income are affected by the business cycle. The investor considers the incomplete information risk of unobservable macroeconomic conditions and updates her belief of expected risky asset returns through Bayesian learning. We find that the optimal investment strategy, certainty equivalent wealth, and portfolio hedging demand significantly depend on the belief about the macroeconomic conditions.

  • The space industry is a comprehensive and technology-intensive industry involving different converging technologies. However, most of the companies in Korea's space industry are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and need to strengthen global capacity to export their products. However, the link between the destination country and the product remains insufficient. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to propose an export roadmap for space products to provide SMEs with export opportunities and strategic guidelines. For this, technology roadmap and portfolio analysis are applied to this purpose. This study is expected to be helpful to SMEs and government agencies.
