Strategies for e-Learning development in China through the analysis of e-Learning adminstration status in Korean Industry-Academia e-Learning cooperation (한국의 산.학 e-Learning 운영 실태 분석을 통한 중국에서의 e-Learning 발전 전략)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate Chinese e-Learning development strategies based on the analysis of Korean Industry-Academia e-Learning cooperation. Literature review and interview with experts about the subject regarding this study were the main research methods for the study. The results of the study are as follows 1. Chinese government should amend and complement the e-Learning policy of the chinese enterprise continuously through the Korean government's experience about the e-Learning policy such as enterprise e-Learning system, standardization of LMS, and quality assurance. 2. Korean government's policy about e-Learning has emphasized on practical development of e-Learning contents and LMS. And we have found they have good effects from the policy in terms of human resource development. However, Chinese government generally has emphasized on external extension of the scale and administration.nte, Chinese government should follow the practical policy in the e-Learning development as Korean government has done. 3. The way of Individualized learning, cooperative learning, team work, WBI, standardized LMS, and Blended Learning in Korea could be well adapted in Chinese e-Learning.

Development of Sound Design Strategies for Promoting Self-regulated Learning Behaviors in Mobile Learning Environments

  • Students mostly precede their learning without any direct support of instructor in e-learning and mobile educational environment. Many useful strategies and tools to facilitate self-regulated learning behaviors in e-learning environment have been introduced, yet, the limit has been reached by only suggesting self-regulated strategies with visual information in the most researches. Accordingly, this research is intent to propose the sound design strategies that facilitate learner's self-regulated learning behaviors in mobile learning environment. To achieve the objective of the research, two research questions are presented. First, what are the sound design strategies that facilitate the self -regulated learning behaviors in mobile learning environment?. Second, what are the results of evaluating the developed sound design strategies in terms of facilitating self-regulated learning behaviors?. To solve these research questions, the literature reviews on characteristics of mobile learning, concepts and features of self-regulated learning and sound were done to establish the sound design strategies. Through formative research method targeting instructional designers, sound design strategies were modified and supplemented. The research to validate these was performed and to verify the effect of the derived sound design strategies, the usability test aimed at instructional designer and learners was conducted. The final sound design strategies through this research process were six general design strategies and the sixteen detailed strategies. This research is meaningful because this offers the basic research on sound information design which has been lacking and help upgrade the upper limit of instructional design which mainly focused on visual information in mobile learning environment that shows information in a small screen.

Design and Development of e-Learning Contents for the NCS Vacational Core Competencies: Focusing on Interpersonal Competency (NCS 직업기초능력 교육을 위한 이러닝 콘텐츠 설계 및 개발 : 대인관계능력을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the components and design strategies of e-learning content for the development of interpersonal competency, one of NCS vocational core competencies. In order to standardize the educational curriculum and content of interpersonal competency, this study has referred to the educational handbook of NCS vocational core competencies that the Human Resources Development Service of Korea has developed. Based on such standardized content, e-learning content components and design strategies were extracted by analyzing related studies and e-learning cases as well as by conducting surveys and interviews with experts and instructors of the field. Applying components and design strategies extracted through those investigations, the e-learning content for the development of interpersonal competency was developed. Its design's validity and educational effect were evaluated by interviews and surveys with students, professors, and experts. The evaluation results show that the e-learning content was appropriately designed and was effective in learning interpersonal competency as one of NCS vocational core competencies.

  • This study was to develop improving vocational basic skill program and content which are basic of instruction-learning ability for the vocational education substantiality. To pursue this goal, 'self-development capability' among vocational basic skills was developed through the research methodology and procedure. The interpersonal relation capability was selected as one of vocational basic skill areas when it was more effective by e-learning contents through literature review, expert conference etc. The self-development capability can be self-control and development under performing business tasks. In this study, self-development capability was programmed a interpersonal scheme, a cooperative capability, a leadership capability, a conflict management, negotiation capability, and a customer service capability. Especially this program was developed as a form of e-Learning contents focusing on improving problem solving under real case using multimedia strategies such as movies, simulation, game.

  • The Purpose of this study is to embody self-directed learning management system and contents which are considered of learner's interactivity and usability in e-learning environment; It is based on self directed teaching and learning strategies. It divides type of interaction centering on the learners into four categories: (1) learner and instructor (2) learner and learner (3) learner and contents (4) learner and learning management system. The specific elements of learning management system is set up and embodied to present the interaction strategies according to the above-mentioned patterns, to improve the self-directed learning ability and to facilitate an online communication. The learning contents based on the self directed learning strategies, design the interface in due consideration of the learners' usability based on six strategies such as simple navigation, consistency, intuitive interface, linkage, user supports and immediate feedback. This research makes up for the weak points in the self-directed functions of learning management system and links up with learning contents, therefore it has a value to improve learner's interactivity and usability. It is expected that the research results can be helpful in quality improvement of e-learning environment.

Suggestions for E-Learning Based on Four Years of Cyber University Experience

  • E-Learning is widely introduced with cyber universities in Korea from 2001 whencyber universities were first authorized by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. E-learning amplified by cyber university gave a big impact in the campus based university which became the cause for the educational paradigm shift. The changes of status of cyber university shows important trend in college education which was analyzed by enrollment rate, types of cyber university, demography, and study areas. The enrollment rate of cyber universities is ever since 2001 and variety of study areas gives popularity to students. The demography of students is as expected older than traditional students. Female students at the cyber university outnumbered that at campus based university in Korea. For analyzing the trend of e-learning in Korea, there were studies twice in 2001 May-June from 213 faculty members and staff, 630 students and in 2004 May-June with 401 students. Most of e-learning students tent to spend less time yet, students feel more burden with e-learning. Professors tend to load more materials for the e-learning in 2001but in 2004 study, the difference no longer exists. Professors and students feel the academic achievement through e-learning is not as good as from the traditional classes. Difficulties for e-learning in 2001 were the lack of administrative information but in 2004, boring contents and lack of instructional strategies for e-learning. Technical problems still do exist but less serious. Suggestions for e-learning are blended learning, online students prefer video streaming with their own lecturer, new definition of instructor is needed, professional development for content development and online instruction is needed, success story of online learning should be encouraged, guidance for online students needed. The cyber university experiencegave a positive impact on the traditional universities such as rethinking the roles of universities, the quality control of classes, professional development, student oriented educational service of e-learning pedagogy.

  • 21세기 정보화 사회가 요구하는 새로운 인재의 모습은 시대의 변화에 맞게 달라지고 있다. 이러한 정보화 사회가 요구하는 인재 양성을 위한 교육 방향의 변화에 맞는 교육은 e-Learning이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 e-Learning 의 근간이 되는 교수법과 이에 따른 web-book 을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 web-book은 웹을 기반으로 하는 학습이라는 점에서 e-Learning 에 포함될 수 있으며, 특히 학습 정보를 전달하고 교수자와 학습자 상호간에 의사소통을 할 수 있다는 점에서는 e-Learning 의 한 형태라 할 수 있겠다.

The Educational Implementation of e-Learning System Applying the Theory of Motivation - With Focus on "Interest" and the "Self-Determination Theory" (동기 이론이 적용된 e-Learning system의 교육적 실천: 흥미와 SDT를 중심으로)

  • This study examines and measures the enhancement of intrinsic motivation in learners who have been part of the e-Learning system (www.englishbuddy.kr) for elementary-level English learning, developed based on the systematic application of the motivation theory as dictated by 'interest' and 'self-determination' and put into practice at 3,100 private tutoring institutions. According to the survey conducted on 328 learners in the e-Learning system inspired by the motivation theory and on 150 learners in other English programs, the former was found to have stimulated 'interest' and satisfied 'psychological desire' in the learners, leading to the development of 'specific strategies to motivate learners.' The study has clearly identified how learners are better motivated in the e-Learning environment, demonstrating its contributions to advancing e-Learning, building a practical e-Learning system based on a systematic motivation theory defined by 'interest' and 'self-determination,' and applying the system to some 16,000 learners at 3,100 private tutoring institutions.

Analysis of e-Learning Contents in Distance Teacher Training for Quality Improvement (콘텐츠 품질 향상을 위한 교원연수 이러닝 콘텐츠 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of 67 kinds of e-learning contents in an attempt to boost the effectiveness of distance teacher training. As a result of analyzing, the e-learning contents were rated highest in terms of 'training content,' followed by 'instructional design,' 'teaching & learning strategies,' 'evaluation' and 'interaction.' The scores of 'teaching & learning strategies,' 'evaluation' and 'interaction' were below 80 that was the standard of quality certification. In mean comparison(ES) of contents quality level between certified contents and non certified contents, 'instructional design' had the largest ES(effect size), followed by 'teaching & learning strategies,' 'evaluation'. In the analysis of evaluation factors, most of factors had a large effect such as 'webpage layout', 'selection of instructional design'. The findings of the study are expected to suggest what improvements should be made in the development of e-learning contents for distance teacher training.

Development of the Public Practice Center's teaching-learning model by applying Blended Learning Strategies (Blended Learning 전략을 적용한 공동실습소 교수-학습 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the Public Practice Center's teaching-learning model by applying blended learning strategies which is complementary to the expected problems such as expansion of the educational object and diversity of the curriculum to maximize the educational effect and to analyze activation types of the Practical Practice Center to expand the Public Practice Center's function and role by studying the document. Blended Learning Strategies are established in consideration of the following eight (8) factors ; learning environment, learning purpose, learning contents, learning time, learning place, learning type, learning media, type of interaction. It is redesigned and amended to the KEDI's individual confirmation instruction model for skill learning (1975) which is considered to be effective in the filed of education by applying features, educational contents of the Public Practice Center's teaching and merit of Blended Learning Strategies simultaneous. This model is composed of six (6) steps as shown below; 1. Understanding on the purpose and orientation 2. Observation for demonstration of fundamental skill 3. Ex on-line learning 4. Acquirement of element skill 5. Confirmation for acquirement of fundamental skill 6. After on-line learning. Further to this, this model is designed so that the above eight factors will be applied to the students effectively and the merit of e-learning and off-line practice will be mixed to the learner's expectation and satisfaction.
