  • Logic and intuition are considered as the opposite extremes of teaching geometry, and any teaching method of geometry is to be placed between these extremes. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of logical and intuitive approaches for teaching geometry and to derive didactical implications by taking Euclid's Elements and Clairaut's Elements respectively representing the extremes. To this end, comparing the composition and contents of each book, we analyze which propositions Clairaut chose from Euclid's Elements, how their approaches differ in definitions, proofs, and geometrical constructions, and what unique approaches Clairaut took. The results reveal that Clairaut mainly chose propositions from Euclid's books 1, 3, 6, 11, and 12 to provide the contexts that show why such ideas were needed, rather than the sudden appearance of abstract and formal propositions, and omitted or modified the process of justification according to learners' levels. These propose a variety of intuitive strategies in line with trends of teaching geometry towards emphasis on conceptual understanding and different levels of justification. Specifically, such as the general principle of similarity and the infinite geometric approach shown in Clairaut's Elements, we could confirm that intuition-based geometry does not necessarily aim for tasks with low cognitive demand, but must be taught in a way that learners can understand.

  • On the standards or elements of teaching evaluation, the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation(KICE) has carried out several research as follows : 1) establishment of observation elements for selecting examples of good mathematics instruction between 2001 and 2002, 2) development of the standards on teaching evaluation between 2004 and 2006, and 3) investigation on the elements of Pedagogical Content Knowledge including understanding of learners between 2007 and 2008. The purposes of development of mathematics teaching evaluation standards through those studies were to improve not only mathematics teachers' professionalism but also their own teaching methods or strategies. In this study, the standards were revised and modified by analyzing the results of those three studies (namely, evaluation standards) focused on the teacher knowledge of learners' understanding. For this purpose, the meaning of learners' understanding was also investigated in-depth. Finally, the concrete elements on teaching evaluation focused on the teacher knowledge of learners' understanding in math class were new developed, based on the literature reviews on learners' understanding. Then, those evaluation elements were developed according to the five domains of learners' understanding such as evaluation domains such as students' intellectual and achievement level, students' misconception in math, students' motivation on learning, students' attitude on mathematics learning, and students' learning strategies.

  • The paper describes the use of genetic algorithms (GA's) to the minimum weight design of stiffened composite panels for buckling constraints. The proposed design problem is characterized by mixture of continuous and discrete design variables corresponding to panel elements and stacking sequence of laminates, respectively. Design space is multimodal and non-convex, thereby introducing the need for global search strategies. Advanced strategies in GA's such as directed crossover, multistage search and separated crossover are adopted to improve search ability and to save computational resource requirements. The paper explores the effectiveness of genetic algorithms and their advanced strategies in designing stiffened composite panels under various uniaxial compressive load conditions and the linrlit on stacking sequence of laminates.

  • A generalized network problem is a special class of linear programming problem whose coefficient matrix contains at most two nonzero elements per column. A generalized network problem with 0-1 flow restrictions is called an integer generalized network(IGN) problem. In this paper, we presented a branch and bound algorithm for the IGN that uses network relaxation. To improve the procedure, we develop various strategies, each of which employs different node selection criterion and/or branching variable selection criterion. We test these solution strategies and compare their efficiencies with LINDO on 70 randomly generated problems.

  • Customer Relationship Management(CRM) paradigm has emerged that suggests organizations will be more successfully if they concentrate on obtaining and maintaining a share of each customer rather than a share of the entire market, with information technology(IT) being the enabling factor. This paper presents five key elements that provide the necessary steps that allow and organization to position its people, business process, and information system to establish and take advantage of this paradigm. The key elements are : (1) IT investment, (2) Website application, (3) IT System application, (4) Communication strategies, (5) CRM Performance. The results show that IT investment, IT system application, and Website application play a vital role in enhancing an Organizational Communication. Also, the results show that IT investment, IT system application, Website application, and Organizational Communication play a vital role in enhancing an organization's performance of customer relationship management. Further, this paper discusses the importance of integrating these four elements for achieving effective customer interaction. The author provides academical and managerial implication for business strategies.

  • Local dispute resolution has evolved in response to the need for effective ways to cope with the increasing numbers and types of local disputes. Where resources are limited, where the activities of individeuals or communities affect other individuals or communities, and where interests deviate or compete, disputes are likely to emerge. Efforts to resolve local disputes vary in their particulars but generally have certain elements in common. Therefore, this study focuses upon the fundamental directions and strategies for resolving local disputes. More specifically, the purpose of this study is to examine the causes of local disputes, to suggest fundamental directions for resolving local disputes, and then to explore the strategies for resovling local disputes. In the face of rising local disputes, planners need to become more aware of the possibilities for consensual dispute than one potential path to consensus. In spite of this variability, desirable strategies in local dispute resoultion processes can be identified.

  • Breaking from the past convention, most construction firms are lotting out their apartments with their own brand names. They don't have, however, differentiated marketing strategies based on unique brand awareness. Rather, virtual absence of marketing strategies has brought about unfiltered introduction of architectural elements of the competition and excessive advertising efforts. Consequently confusion is at hand for consumers' purchase decision since they are not aware of the differences between the apartments. The purpose of this study is to make consumers have clear brand awareness by presenting appropriate brand strategies based on sound marketing theories for construction firms.

  • This paper delves into the application of Gestalt psychology principles in logo design. It analyzes how these principles refine design elements to bolster the efficiency and impact of visual communication. Drawing from Gestalt psychology perspectives, the theoretical foundations and application methods of logo design simplification strategies are discussed. Through the analysis of Gestalt psychology effects in various types and styles of logo designs, this study compares the applicability and differences of logo design simplification strategies under different cultural and social contexts. Furthermore, it evaluates their role and value in enhancing the innovativeness and communicative impact of logo designs. The findings suggest that strategies informed by Gestalt psychology significantly improve the organization rules within logo designs, such as the relationship between figure and ground, proximity, similarity, and continuity. Thereby they enhance perceptual clarity, cognitive load, and aesthetic satisfaction. Moreover, these strategies promote creative thinking and problem-solving abilities in logo design. The results indicate that simplified design methods not only enhance aesthetic appeal but also improve the adaptability and recognizability of logos across different media and environments. This approach aligns with the minimalist and flat design trends of today's information age, meeting the evolving needs and aesthetic preferences of consumers.
