Effects of Cognitive Age on Perceived Service Quality, Satisfaction, and Repurchase Intentions across the Elderly's Lifestyle Types in Apparel Stores (주관적 연령이 의류점포의 서비스품질 지각, 만족 및 재구매의도에 미치는 영향 - 실버소비자들의 라이프스타일 유형을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of cognitive age on service quality, consumer satisfaction, and repurchase intentions across the elderly's lifestyle types in the apparel store. Data were obtained from 853 women in the 50's and 60's living in Busan, and were analyzed by factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test, and path analysis using SPSS WIN 12.0 and LISREL 8.53. The results showed that the lifestyle of elderly consumers was classified into three factors, such as Active self-fidelitist, Economy family-oriented, and Passive-stagnant. Service qualities perceived by the elderly in apparel stores were composed of Personal Service, Facilities Service, Product Service, and Policy Service. Generally, the younger cognized their ages most of the elderly were the more importantly perceived store service quality, the greater satisfied with apparel store services, and the more intended to repurchase apparels at a store. However, economic family-oriented elderlys were the younger cognized their ages, the less satisfied with the apparel service. Additionally, personal and policy services of the apparel store were important variables for elderlys' satisfaction with store services. The findings provide potential explanations and managerial implications for the elderly market.

The Dimensions of Apparel Store Service Quality (의류점포의 서비스 품질차원)

  • This study was aimed to identify the conceptualization of apparel store service quality and to investigate the dimensions of apparel store service quality. Apparel store service involves tangibles like employees and equipment and intangible like policy convenience and credit. Apparel store service quality is composed mlti-dimentionally. In the empirical research a questionnaire was developed and statistical data were collected during June 1998. The subjects were 244 women in the age of 20's SAS were used to analyze collected data. Frequency percentage mean STD, factor analysis and Cronbach's a were applied. From the results of analysis the apparel store service quality were classified into four dimenstions ; salesperson(7 items) VMD(6 items) reliable policy(5 items) and customer convenience (3 items)

  • This study intends to provide a beneficial foundation which can aid our understanding of how a clothing consumer group can be classified according to the clothing buying motives, and what differences are there about the importances of stroe image attribute among them and how consumer's preferences to the store image are shown differently among them and ultimately, some concrete data which can be useful in establishing efficient store image strategies for clothing stores. 413 subjects were gathered through convenience sampling method and, for data analysis, cronbach'$\alpha$, frequency, percentage, mean, $x^{2}-text$, 1-test, ANOVA, Duncan Multiple Range Test, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis were conducted. The results are as follows; 1. Three kind of factors in the clothing buying motives were determined for analysis of consumers group and by which it was revealed as to be significant for us to classify them four subdivisions; those of fashion pursuit group, self display group, financial utilitarian group, individual group. 2. Importance on store image attribute was revealed then the middle aged women regarded quality, price, service in order as more important factors than others. 3. Store image preferences show significantly when concerned with quality, price, fashion, impression and age of store personnel, convenience for exchanging and returning goods, credit, delivery and repair, mailing of catalogue and discount coupon, exit from, brightness of store among consumer groups. From these findings, concretely store image strategies are proposed.

Fashion Jewerly Consumers' Purchasing Behavior: Store Retailing and Non-Store Retailing (패션 주얼리 소비자들의 구매행동에 관한 연구: 점포와 무점포를 중심으로)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine fashion jewelry consumers' purchasing behavior, and to compare store retailing consumers and non-store retailing consumers. Subjects were 614 women in age from 20 to 55 years old in Seoul for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, 2-test, and t-test were used. As the results, 52.9% of respondents had purchased fashion jewelry products via store retailing such as department store, road shop, discount store, while 47.1% of respondents had purchased them through non-store retailing such as internet shopping mall, TV home shopping, and catalog shopping. It revealed that conspicuous consumption had 2 factors: public-self consciousness and luxury product preference. Fashion leader consisted of 3 factors: fashion innovation, fashion interest, and fashion opinion leader. Brand royalty encompassed brand recognition, brand preference, and brand trust. Generally, store retailing consumers had more conspicuous consumption, higher fashion leadership, and stronger brand royalty than non-store retailing consumers. Based on these results, marketing strategies would be suggested for fashion jewelry markets.

Effects of Price Perception and Store Attributes on Fashion-Related Store Choice Behavior;Focused on Department Store, Discount Store, and Internet Shopping Mall (가격인지차원과 점포속성이 패션제품 점포선택행동에 미치는 영향;백화점, 할인점, 인터넷 쇼핑몰을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate influences of perceived price dimensions and store attributes on store choice behavior. Three major retail formats, department store, discount store, and internet shopping mall in retail industry were compared with respect to store attributes and intention to purchase fashion products. Data were obtained from 427 consumers aged 25-49 years old. The results were as follows. (1) Multidimensional aspects of the price construct were identified: price-quality schema, prestige sensitivity, price mavenism, value consciousness, price consciousness, and sales proneness. (2) Store attributes included product assortment, quality per price (Q/P), service, and symbolic image in general. However, store attribute factors of three retail formats consisted of slightly different items. Department stores presented the highest level of mean scores on product quality, customer service, and symbolic images, while internet mall exhibited highest on product variety, information comparison, and quality per price. (3) Respondents presented high level of intention to purchase fashion products at internet mall, department store, and discount store in that order. (4) Purchase intention at department store was predicted by Q/P, service, symbolic image, prestige sensitivity, product assortment, clothing consumption, and age in order. Purchase intention at discount store was influenced by assortment & Q/P, symbolic image, clothing consumption, and sales proneness, whereas internet mall was predicted by product assortment, Q/P, service, price mavenism, and price-quality schema.

Market Segmentation and Marketing Strategy According to Apparel Retail Store Selection Criteria of Consumer (소비자의 의류상점선택기준에 따른 시장세분화와 마케팅전략)

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to find out Market segmentation possibilities according to consumer's store selection factors by analysis of Consumer's attitude and oriteria of apparel store selection, 2) to provide marketing strategies of segment marker for apparel stores Research problems were as follows. 1) To find out the important factors of consumer's store selection and to segment markets according to their factors. 2) To find out consumer characteristics (demographic variables, clothing life factors, cloth-ing purchase behaviors) according to segment markets. 3) To find out preference store types and preference factors according to segment markets. 4) To provide marketing mix strategy for retail apparel store sales. The subjects selected for the final analysis were 586 female college students, housewives, and workers living in Seoul. A questionnaire was developed in order to measure consumer's selection criteria of apparel store, consumer characteristics and preferred store types and preferential factors. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were 8 factors of consumer's store selection such that: the high quality, convenience, store atmosphere, economy, dependency commercials, store patronage, the conformity, product assortment. the result of cluster analysis based on these 8 factors of store selection verified that market was able to be segmented as four different market, which were the store loyalty group, the aligned economical group, the assortment pursuing group, the store fame dependent group. 2. There were significant differences among four groups, for 4 variables related to consumer's characteristics such as demographic characteristics (sex, age, job, level of education, the living quarters, marrige or unmarrige), clothing life factors, clothing evaluating criteria, and favorite fashion information sources. 3. There were significant differences among four groups for 2 variable related to store preference such as preference types of store and preference factors of store.

Purchasing Behavior of Outlet Store Patronage Consumers (상설할인매장애고자의 구매행동)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual state and problems of outlet stores. And examine store attributes shopping orientations information sources according to demographic characteristics for outlet store patronage group. The questionnaires were administered to 400 women living in Taegu. The data were analyzed by using Frequency Percentage Factor Analysis MANOVA. The results of the study were as follows; 1) Outlet stores in Taegu area were run as the type of agency and dealt in most brands of their own companies, There were plenty of as-sortment and merchandise. The discount rate was 50-60% Stores' locations were scattered which made shopping environment incon-venient. 2) The store attributes were composed of five factors such as fashion & products diver-sity service store reputation convenience and price. Shopping orientation were com-posed of six factors such as self-confidence for shopping brand oriented store loyalty & near-store oriented economical self-assumed shopping and difficulty of choice. Information sources were composed of four factors such as print media & display personal information advertising and store visit. 3) There were significant differences be-tween patronage group and non-patronage group in store reputation service fashion & products diversity. Patronage group is more satisfied with these three factors. There were significant differences between patronage group and non-patronage group in brand oriented and economical Non-patronage group was more brand oriented and patronage group was more economical. There were significant difference between patronage group and non-patronage group in print dedia & display factos. Non-patronage group made more use of print media& display than patronage group as information sources. There were significant differences between patronage group non-patrpnage group in age marital status and levle of education.

Purchase Behavior and Satisfaction Levels of Wholesale Discount Store Customers (대형할인매장 이용 소비자의 구매행태 및 만족수준)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the purchase behavior and satisfaction levels of wholesale discount store customers. Three hundred and eighty housewives who had buying experiences from wholesale discount stores at Gunpo city, Kyeonggi province were selected. The questionnaire survey method was conducted during August 3 to August 9, 2000. The major findings were as follows ; First, the major customers using wholesale discount store were found to be age over thirties and they bought food, such as vegetables and processed food stuffs. They visited wholesale discount store once or twice a week and spent $10{\sim}50$ thousand won each purchasing. Second, most customers evaluated positively wholesale discount store, on the other hand they experienced compulsive buying or had the desire for it. Third, though they visited wholesale discount store because of lower price than other stores, they didn't agree that they were saving money through using wholesale discount store. Forth, housewife-customers' satisfaction level about whole sale discount store was not so high. Among the factors suggested, they were satisfied comparatively with the comfortable counter atmosphere and parking lot, and were dissatisfied comparatively with the long waiting time at cashier.

Market segmentation based on purchase frequency of products in department store and low-price retailing and difference among segments (할인점과 백화점에서의 상품 구매빈도에 따른 시장세분화 및 세분시장의 상점태도 및 의류상품 구매 특성)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to segment the market based on purchase frequency of products such as apparel, food, home electronics, life commodity in department store and low-price retailing, 2) to identify differences among segments in belief and attitude toward each store, purchase frequency of apparel items in each store and demographic variables. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 274 married women living in Seoul, Korea and analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA and x$^2$-test. The results of this study were as follows: First, using cluster analysis on purchase frequency of products in each store, four groups were identified and labeled as department store patronage/ non-purchasers of apparel in low-price retailing(25.2%), purchasers of apparel in department store and low-price retailing(16.8%), low-price retailing patronage(30.3%) and non-purchasers of products in department store and low-price retailing(27.0%). Second, a series of one-way ANOV As revealed significant differences among four segments on beliefs of low-price retailing(four store attributes: price and variety of apparel product, facilities for convenient shopping, promotion, brand-reputation and fashionability of apparel product) and department store(three store attributes: price and variety of apparel product, facilities for convenient shopping and promotion) and attitude toward low-price retailing and department store. Attitude toward each store was yielded using Fishbein's multiattributes model. There were also significant differences among groups in purchase frequency of seven apparel items in low-price retailing and six apparel items in department store, and six demographic and personal variables(age, educational status, type of husband's occupation, monthly income and housing). Finally, the papers discussed manageral implications for each segments as well as theoretical implications.

A Study on the Wearing and Purchasing Hanbok of Korean Urban Women (한국 도시 여성의 한복 착용 및 구매 실태)

  • The purposes of present study were (1) to examine the actual condition of wearing and purchasing Hanbok, (2) to investigate the effect of demographic variables on the wearing and purchasing Hanbok and (3) to identify the dissatisfaction with Hanbok. Data were collected from 702 females, age 20 or older, residing in Seoul, Taejon, Pusan and were analysed. Results of this study were as follows : (1) Korean urban women possess from one to three Traditional Dress and wear Hanbok in one to three during one year for special days. (2) The demographic variables that affect on wearing and purchasing Traditional Hanbok were age, income, family make-up and growing region. (3) One among the four Korean urban women possesses a Deformed Hanbok. And Korean women wears Deformed Hanbok for both daily life and special days. (4) The store that most women purchase Hanbok was order-made store near the house. The income affected on the store that purchaser selects significantly. (5) Three factors consisting of dissatis-faction with Hanbok were dissatisfaction with 'wearing', 'purchasing' and 'diversity of Hanbok design'. (6)Significant levels of correlations existed between the degrees of wearing Hanbok and the dissatisfaction.
