A Study of Damage Assessment Caused by Hydrogen Gas Leak in Tube Trailer Storage Facilities (수소 Tube Trailer 저장시설에서의 수소가스 누출에 따른 사고피해예측에 관한 연구)

  • As the using rate of an explosive gas has been increased in the industrial site, the regional residents adjacent to the site as well as the site workers have frequently fallen into a dangerous situation. Damage caused by accident in the process using hydrogen gas is not confined only to the relevant process, but also is linked to a large scale of fire or explosion and it bring about heavy casualties. Therefore, personnel in charge should investigate the kinds and causes of the accident, forecast the scale of damage and also, shall establish and manage safety countermeasures. We, in Anti-Calamity Research Center, forecasted the scope of danger if break out a fire or/and explosion in hydrogen gas facilities of MLCC firing process. We selected piping leak accident, which is the most frequent accident case based on an actual analysis of accident data occurred. We select and apply piping leak accident which is the most frequent case based on an actual accident data as a model of damage forecasting scenario caused by accident. A jet fire breaks out if hydrogen gas leaks through pipe size of 10 mm ${\Phi}$ under pressure of 120 bar, and in case of $4kw/m^2$ of radiation level, the radiation heat can produce an effect on up to distance of maximum 12.45 meter. Herein, we are going to recommend safety security and countermeasures for improvement through forecasting of accident damages.

Effects of Moisture Content on Recrystallization of Rice Starch Gels (쌀전분겔의 재결정화에 미치는 수분함량의 영향)

  • Effects of moisture content on the gelatinization and recrystallization of non-waxy and waxy rice starch gels were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The recrystallization rates of the starch gels containing various moisture contents $(40{\sim}70%)$ were analyzed by Avrami equation. The waxy rice starch had higher gelatinization temperature and enthalpy than non-waxy one. The highest degrees of recrystallization in both rice starch gels stored at $4^{\circ}C$ were shown at 40%, and recrystallizations above 80% moisture content were not found. The degree of recrystallization of waxy one was higher than that of non-waxy one in the range of 40 to 60% moisture content. The Avrami exponents (n) of both rice starch gels were near to 1.0 and the time constant (1/k) was increased with increasing moisture content in the range of 40 to 70% moisture content. The recrystallization rate of waxy rice starch gel was slower than that of non-waxy one. The recrystallization of rice starch gels could be explained by the change of ice melting enthalpy during storage. The Wg's, represented the maximum practical amount of plasticizing water, were about 29.9% and 28.2% for non-waxy and waxy rice starch gels, respectively.

Development of Solvent System for Enzymatic Synthesis of N-Benzoylaspartame (N-Benzoylaspartame의 효소적 합성을 위한 용매계의 선정)

  • Several single or mixed water-miscible organic solvent systems were investigated to develop the most effective solvent system for enzymatic synthesis of N-benzoylaspartame(BzAPM). The BzAPM was prepared by immobilized thermolysin with using N-benzoyl-L-aspartic acid(Bz-Asp) and L-phenylalanine methyl ester(PheOMe). The solubilities of BzAPM and L-phenylalanine were highest in 4.5% methanol(1.89 and 1.79%, respectively) among the solvents system investigated while a mixed solvent system of 25% dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) and 20% polyethylene glycol(PEG) 200 showed relatively high values. The synthetic activity of BzAPM as well as initial reaction rate were found to be high in 45% methanol, 45% DMSO and a mixed solvent of 25% DMSO and 20% PEM 200. The imobilized thermolysin was most stable in 25% DMSO and 20% PEG 200 during storage at $40^{\circ}C$ for 42 days. PheOMe in the same solvent system was also found fairly stable against non-enzymatic decomposition at $40^{\circ}C$. Based on the synthetic efficiency and stability, the solvent system containing 25% DMSO and 20% PEG 200 was selected to be appropriate for the enzymatic synthesis of BzAPM.

Cooking Conditions and Textural Changes of Cooked Rice Added with Black Rice (흑미 혼용밥의 취반조건과 텍스쳐의 변화)

  • Rice (Dongjin-byeo) added with black rices (Chindo and Suwon-415) was cooked and the changes of texture and color of this cooked rice were investigated by texture analyser and color & color difference meter. The hydration time to come to the equilibrium condition was at least 11 hr in black rices. The optimum ratio of water to cooked rice added with black rice was 1.6 (ratio of water to rice) and the hardness of cooked rice added with 5% Chindo black rice was $5.66\;kg_f$. Regardless of ratio of water to rice, Hunter a value increased as the ratio of black rice addition to rice increased, while L value decreased. The color elution rate of Suwon 415 was 4 times greater than that of Chindo black rice. The pH of the steep water of Suwon 415 at $20^{\circ}C$ during 120 min decreased from pH 6.40 to pH 6.16 as the steeping time increased. The optimum heating time by microwave oven of cooked rice added with black rice was between $90{\sim}120\;sec$ to recover the original texture after cold storage treatment of 7 days.

Quality Improvement of Effective Microorganisms (EM) Pork Produced by Using EM (유용미생물(Effective Microorganisms; EM)로 사양한 EM Pork의 육질 개선 효과)

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect of effective microorganism (EM) treatment in feeding system of swine on carcass characteristics. EM pork, which reared with EM additives and EM activated liquids, and conventional pork (non-EM pork) were stored at $4^{\circ}C$. Chemical composition and storage stability of EM pork were compared with conventional pork. Cholesterol content at EM pork was 71 mg/100 g, which is lower than that of conventional pork (83 mg/100 g) when the meats were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ refrigerator. And EM pork (0.165 MDA mg/kg) showed higher antioxidant effect than control pork (0.184 MDA mg/kg). And also protein denaturalization at EM pork showed lower rate $(3.19\;mg\%)$ than that of conventional pork $(4.9\;mg\%)$ when the meats were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ refrigerator, showing that inhibitory effect of protein denaturalization was increased up to $35\%$ over the conventional pork. These results show that the EM pork had superior traits in terms of cholesterol level, lipid oxidation and protein denaturalization to the conventional pork.

Changes in Physiological and Chemical Properties of the Potatoes during Storage (감자 저장중(貯藏中)에 일어나는 생리화학적(生理化學的) 변화(變化)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • The water content, respiration rate, solid, and starch contents in the potate tuber of May Queen and Namjak stored at $5^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ were determined during 27 week period. Changes in appearance of the surface and internal tissue also were observed. The dormancy period of May Queen stored at $5^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ was 12 seeks, but Namjak at $5^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ were 9 weeks and 21 weeks, respectively. Greening developed from 12 weeks in the tuber of May Queen at $5^{\circ}C$ and browning of Namjak stored at $5^{\circ}C$ was observed from 6 weeks. In both potatoes stored at $20^{\circ}C$, the rates of respiration were higher than those stored at $5^{\circ}C$, and the rates increased continuously after sprouting at $20^{\circ}C$ but maintained at the low level at $5^{\circ}C$. Solid and starch contents of Namjak were always higher than those of May Queen during 27 weeks, but the levels did not change significantly with time. Solid and starch contents at $20^{\circ}C$ maintained at higher level than at $5^{\circ}C$.

  • Many researches have been carried out to reduce and/or to capture the major global warming gases. Especially, the hydrate formation mechanisms were intensively investigated for carbon dioxide sequestration and storage process applications. In this study, the characteristics of film-type crystal growth mechanism of carbon dioxide hydrate were comprehensively examined. Carbon dioxide hydrate crystal was formed in semi-batch type stir reactor at various pressure conditions while the temperature was fixed to be constant to reduce and minimize the guest gas solubility effects. A supply gas composition was 99.999 % of Carbon dioxide, the observation data was collected by optical microscope adopted CCD camera (Nikon DS-5M/Fi1/2M-U2). This study revealed that the guest gas pressure changes significantly altered the crystal growth mechanism and film growth rate of carbon dioxide hydrate crystal. The critical pressure of the carbon dioxide hydrate of crystal growth mechanism change was found to be 2.0 MPa. The capillary force and gas concentration gradient also significantly changed the film-type crystal growth mechanism of carbon dioxide hydrate crystal.

Design of a Pipelined Deblocking Filter with efficient memory management for high performance H.264 decoders (효율적인 메모리 관리 구조를 갖는 H.264용 고성능 디블록킹 필터 설계)

  • The H.264 standard is widely used due to the high compression rate and quality. The deblocking filter of the H.264 standard improves the quality of images by eliminating blocking artifacts of pictures, and it requires a lot of computation. We propose a new hardware architecture for the deblocking filter with pipelined architecture, 1-D filters which support both horizontal and vertical filtering and efficient memory management. Four memory blocks are configured for the efficient storage and access of the current macroblock and adjacent referenced sub-macroblocks, and the pixel data from the motion compensation unit can be transferred without waiting during the computation cycles of the deblocking filter. The number of computation cycles and the hardware area are reduced using the proposed architecture, and the performance of the H.264 decoder is improved. We design the deblocking filter using Verilog-HDL and implement using an FPGA. The designed deblocking filter can be used for decoding HD quality images at 77 MHz.

  • Recently, the important of a personal identification is increasing according to expansion using each on-line commercial transaction and personal ID-card. Although a personal ID-card embedded RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag is gradually increased, the way for a person's identification is deficiency. So we need automatic methods. Because RFID tag is vary small storage capacity of memory, it needs effective feature extraction method to store personal biometrics information. We need new recognition method to compare each feature. In this paper, we studied the face verification system using Hippocampal neuron modeling algorithm which can remodel the hippocampal neuron as a principle of a man's brain in engineering, then it can learn the feature vector of the face images very fast. and construct the optimized feature each image. The system is composed of two parts mainly. One is feature extraction using NMF(Non-negative Matrix Factorization) and LDA(Linear Discriminants Analysis) mixture algorithm and the other is hippocampal neuron modeling and recognition simulation experiments confirm the each recognition rate, that are face changes, pose changes and low-level quality image. The results of experiments, we can compare a feature extraction and learning method proposed in this paper of any other methods, and we can confirm that the proposed method is superior to the existing method.

Effects of Corn Distiller's Dried Grains with Solubles on Production Performance, Nutrient Digestibilities and Fecal Ammonia Emission in Laying Hens (옥수수주정박이 산란계의 생산성, 영양소이용율 및 분 암모니아 방출에 미치는 효과)

  • A layer feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of high quality corn distiller's dried grains with solubles(DDGS) on laying performance and nutrient metabolizabilities. A total of 216 Hy-line Brown layers, 23-wk of age, were employed in a 10-wk feeding trial consisting of three dietary treatments(0%, 10%, and 20% DDGS), and six replicates per treatment. All experimental diets were prepared as iso-protein(17%) and iso-calorie(2,780 kcal/kg). At the end of the trial, the effect of DDGS on fecal ammonia emission was also estimated. The use of DDGS up to 20% in layer diets did not affect the feed intake, laying rate, egg weight, and feed conversion ratio(P>0.05). The DM metabolizability decreased significantly(P<0.05) by the DDGS supplementation(P<0.05). The NFE metabolizability decreased gradually as the level of DDGS increased(P<0.05). The fecal ammonia emission from DDGS-fed birds tended to decrease as the storage days extended. In conclusion, albeit DDGS has some unfavorable effects on DM and NFE metabolizabilities, it could be included in layer diets up to 20% level without any harmful effects on laying performance.
