  • Storage methods to suppress growth of transplants and maintain their quality are required for successful commercial transplant production, since peak demand for transplants of flower or vegetable species falls during limited periods in spring and fall, due to the seasonal nature of the horticulture industry. Plug seedlings, probably due to their high planting density and limited rhizosphere, easily elongated or overgrown during the holding period before the market or greenhouse space is available.   • This paper presents a method for analyzing the transfer lines with finite storage buffers. Each machine spends a random amount of time processing each material. This transfer line can be modeled by the tandem queueing system with finite buffers. The great dimensionality of the state space renders the analysis of such system a formidable task. We propose an efficient algorithm to obtain the marginal state probabilities based on the exact algorithm for the two-machine system. Other performance measures, such as the utilization, the blocking probability, the average sojourn time, and the average queue length, can be easily calculated.

  • The problem of clustering stock-keeping-units to assign storage locations is treated. Firstly, a construction heuristic algorithm is developed to cluster items considering demand dependencies(correlated assignment) for the case that the maximum number or the maximum volume(weight) of items per tray is constrained by the capacity of tray. Secondly, inventory-related cost as well as material handling cost is considered to determine the space requirement and the storage location of each item simultaneously.

피라미드 형태의 적재장 최적 설계 (Designing Stacking Facilities of Pyramid Type)

  • This paper proposes a method for designing stacking warehouses of pyramid type which can be found in storage rooms for steel coils, paper rolls, and drums for oils. Formulas were derived for estimating the expected travel time of cranes and the expected time for rehandling activities. Based on the derived formulas, this study derives the cost function for determining the optimal numbers of rows, bays, tiers of stacks under the condition that the requirement for storage space is satisfied. Numerical examples were given.

  • HLW canister array was designed by FLLSSM program, considering the thermal concentration. Rock properties were chosen as those of granite, the most possible bedrock for the repository in Korea. It was shown that repository area and excavation volumes can be determined by the pitch or distance between canisters. Pitch can be reduced to 0.6 m assuming the tolerance temperature as 200$^{\circ}C$. Thermal concentration was reduced as storage time for cooling the canister passed. After 10 years of storage the thermal problems seemed to be negligible.

  • In this paper, an efficient storage reclamation algorithm for RISC parallel processing in the object orented programming environments is presented. The memory management for the dynamic memory allocation and the frequent memory access in object oriented programming is the main factor that decreases RISC parallel processing performance. The proposed algorithm can be efficiently allocated the memory space of RISCy computer which is required the frequent memory access, so it can be increased RISC parallel processing performance. The proposed algorithm is verified the efficiency by implementing C language on SUN SPARC(4.3 BSD UNIX).

  • Higher utilization of warehouse space can be achieved by using automated mobile racking systems. Therefore, those systems may be employed for factories or distribution centers as a good option of increasing the storage capacity. In this paper, travel-time models are developed to estimate the average performance of the system assuming randomized storage. Expected travel times are determined for both single- and dual-command cycles. Two extreme input/output-point locations are considered. Some numerical results obtained from the models are given.

  • KOMPSAT-2 provides two different imaging methods, direct imaging and playback imaging. For playback imaging operation KOMPSAT-2 has a storage device called DCSU (Data Compression & Storage Unit) to hold images taken before. Compression function is necessary to save memory space and data transmission time to ground station. There are several parameters for compression like compression ratio. Due to DCSU architectural characteristics and KOMPSAT-2 operational limitations, there are some restrictions on selecting compression parameters. This paper will provide selecting guides on compression parameters.
