  • Recently, as the demand for physical security technology to prevent leakage of technical and business information of companies and public institutions increases, the high tech companies are operating X-ray security checkpoints at building entrances to protect their intellectual property and technology. X-ray security checkpoints are operated to detect cameras and storage media that may store or leak important technologies in the bags of people entering and leaving the building. In this study, we propose an X-ray security checkpoint system that automatically detects a storage medium in an X-ray image using a deep learning based object detection method. The proposed system consists of an edge computing unit and a cloud-computing unit. We employ the RetinaNet for automatic storage media detection in the X-ray security checkpoint images. The proposed approach achieved mAP of 95.92% on private dataset.

  • Health information systems (HIS) are facing security challenges on data privacy and confidentiality. These challenges are based on centralized system architecture creating a target for malicious attacks. Blockchain technology has emerged as a trending technology with the potential to improve data security. Despite the effectiveness of this technology, still HIS are suffering from a lack of data privacy and confidentiality. This paper presents a blockchain-based data storage security architecture integrated with an e-Health care system to improve its security. The study employed a qualitative research method where data were collected using interviews and document analysis. Execute-order-validate Fabric's storage security architecture was implemented through private data collection, which is the combination of the actual private data stored in a private state, and a hash of that private data to guarantee data privacy. The key findings of this research show that data privacy and confidentiality are attained through a private data policy. Network peers are decentralized with blockchain only for hash storage to avoid storage challenges. Cost-effectiveness is achieved through data storage within a database of a Hyperledger Fabric. The overall performance of Fabric is higher than Ethereum. Ethereum's low performance is due to its execute-validate architecture which has high computation power with transaction inconsistencies. E-Health care system administrators should be trained and engaged with blockchain architectural designs for health data storage security. Health policymakers should be aware of blockchain technology and make use of the findings. The scientific contribution of this study is based on; cost-effectiveness of secured data storage, the use of hashes of network data stored in each node, and low energy consumption of Fabric leading to high performance.

  • The security vulnerabilities of cloud storage virtualization environments are different from those of the existing computer system and are difficult to be protected in the existing computer system environment. Therefore we need some technical measures to address this issue. First of all, the technology used in cloud storage virtualization environment needs to be thoroughly analyzed, and also, we should understand those security requirements of various stakeholders in the view of cloud storage service and perform the research on security guidelines of the research security requirements. In this paper, we propose security requirements based on layers and roles of cloud storage virtualization. The proposed security requirements can be a basement for development of solution of cloud storage virtualization security.

  • Storage cloud scheme, pushing data to the storage cloud poses much attention regarding data confidentiality. With encryption concept, data accessibility is limited because of encrypted data. To secure storage system with high access power is complicated due to dispersed storage environment. In this paper, we propose a hardware-based security scheme such that a secure dispersed storage system using erasure code is articulated. We designed a hardware-based security scheme with data encoding operations and migration capabilities. Using TPM (Trusted Platform Module), the data integrity and security is evaluated and achieved.

  • The amount of Big Data generated from multiple sources is continuously increasing. Traditional storage methods lack the capacity for such massive amounts of data. Consequently, most organizations have shifted to the use of cloud storage as an alternative option to store Big Data. Despite the significant developments in cloud storage, it still faces many challenges, such as privacy and security concerns. This paper discusses Big Data, its challenges, and different classifications of security and privacy challenges. Furthermore, it proposes a new classification of Big Data security and privacy challenges and offers some perspectives to provide solutions to these challenges.

  • Cloud computing is the latest approach that is developed for reducing the storage of space to store the data and helps the quick sharing of the data. An increase in the cloud computing users is observed that is also making the users be prone to hacker's attacks. To increase the efficiency of cloud storage encryption mechanisms are used. The encryption techniques that are discussed in this survey paper are searchable encryption, attribute-based, Identity-based encryption, homomorphic encryption, and cloud DES algorithms. There are several limitations and disadvantages of each of the given techniques and they are discussed in this survey paper. Techniques are found to be effective and they can increase the security of cloud storage systems.

  • In recent years, a cloud environment with the ability to detect illegal behaviours along with a secured data storage capability is much needed. This study presents a cloud storage framework, wherein a 128-bit encryption key has been generated by combining deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) cryptography and the Hill Cipher algorithm to make the framework unbreakable and ensure a better and secured distributed cloud storage environment. Moreover, the study proposes a DNA-based encryption technique, followed by a 256-bit secure socket layer (SSL) to secure data storage. The 256-bit SSL provides secured connections during data transmission. The data herein are classified based on different qualitative security parameters obtained using a specialized fuzzy-based classification technique. The model also has an additional advantage of being able to decide on selecting suitable storage servers from an existing pool of storage servers. A fuzzy-based technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model has been employed for this, which can decide on the set of suitable storage servers on which the data must be stored and results in a reduction in execution time by keeping up the level of security to an improved grade.

  • Cloud storage services are used for efficient sharing or synchronizing of user's data across multiple mobile devices. Although cloud storages provide flexibility and scalability in storing data, security issues should be handled. Currently, typical cloud storage services offer data encryption for security purpose but we think such method is not secure enough because managing encryption keys by software and identifying users by simple ID and password are main defectives of current cloud storage services. We propose a secure data access method to cloud storage in mobile environment. Our framework supports hardware-based key management, attestation on the client software integrity, and secure key sharing across the multiple devices. We implemented our prototype using ARM TrustZone and TPM Emulator which is running on secure world of the TrustZone environment.

  • Data deduplication technology improves data storage efficiency while storing and managing large amounts of data. It reduces storage requirements by determining whether replicated data is being added to storage and omitting these uploads. Data deduplication technologies require data confidentiality and integrity when applied to cloud storage environments, and they require a variety of security measures, such as encryption. However, because the source data cannot be transformed, common encryption techniques generally cannot be applied at the same time as data deduplication. Various studies have been conducted to solve this problem. This white paper describes the basic environment for data deduplication technology. It also analyzes and compares multiple proposed technologies to address security threats.

  • Security operating system applied to MAC(Mandatory Access Control) or to MLS(Multi Level Security) gives both subject and object both Security Level and value of Category, and it restrict access to object from subject. But it violates Security policy of system and could be a circulated course of illegal information. This is correctly IPC(Interprocess Communication)mechanism and Covert Channel. In this thesis, I tried to design and implementation as OS kernel in order not only to give confidence of information circulation in the Security system, but also to defend from Covert Channel by Storage and IPC mechanism used as a circulated course of illegal information. For removing a illegal information flow by IPC mechanism. I applied IPC mechanism to MLS Security policy, and I made Storage Covert Channel analyze system call Spec. and than distinguish Storage Covert Channel. By appling auditing and delaying, I dealt with making low bandwidth.
