  • Kitchen cabinets are widely used for their spacious storage and efficient use of space, but their high installed location makes it difficult for the elderly and disabled to access. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new height-adjustable kitchen cabinet that can be used more easily and safely. The lift-down range of cabinet was set considering the installation location of cabinet for efficient use of kitchen space and the maximum height accessible to the elderly and disabled, and the link geometry and driving method of the complex link mechanism were determined through the mechanism design procedure to ensure that the selected floor come down safely along the optimal descend path. In addition, the appropriate motor and control algorithm were added to allow the user to descend to the desired height with a simple button operation. It was confirmed through actual production that the proposed linkage mechanism performs the desired lift-down motion.

  • Recently, the interest and research on the development of new application services such as the Location Based Service and Telemetics providing the emergency service, neighbor information search, and route search according to the development of the Geographic Information System have been increasing. User's search in the spatio-temporal database which is used in the field of Location Based Service or Telemetics usually fixes the current time on the time axis and queries the spatial and aspatial attributes. Thus, if the range of query on the time axis is extensive, it is difficult to efficiently deal with the search operation. For solving this problem, the snapshot, a method to summarize the location data of moving objects, was introduced. However, if the range to store data is wide, more space for storing data is required. And, the snapshot is created even for unnecessary space that is not frequently used for search. Thus, non storage space and memory are generally used in the snapshot method. Therefore, in this paper, we suggests the Hash-based Spatio-Temporal Clustering Algorithm(H-STCA) that extends the two-dimensional spatial hash algorithm used for the spatial clustering in the past to the three-dimensional spatial hash algorithm for overcoming the disadvantages of the snapshot method. And, this paper also suggests the knowledge extraction algorithm to extract the knowledge for the path search of moving objects from the past location data based on the suggested H-STCA algorithm. Moreover, as the results of the performance evaluation, the snapshot clustering method using H-STCA, in the search time, storage structure construction time, optimal path search time, related to the huge amount of moving object data demonstrated the higher performance than the spatio-temporal index methods and the original snapshot method. Especially, for the snapshot clustering method using H-STCA, the more the number of moving objects was increased, the more the performance was improved, as compared to the existing spatio-temporal index methods and the original snapshot method.

  • In underground spaces including nuclear waste repository, prediction of air quantity, temperature/humidity and pollutant concentration is utmost important for space construction and management during the normal state as well as for determining the measures in emergency cases such as underground fires. This study aims at developing a model for underground space environment which has capabilities to take into account the effects of autocompression for the natural ventilation head calculation, to find the optimal location and size of fans and regulators, to predict the temperature and humidity by calculating the convective heat transfer coefficient and the sensible and latent heat transfer rates, and to estimate the pollutant levels throughout the network. The temperature/humidity prediction model was applied to a military storage underground space and the relative differences of dry and wet temperatures were 1.5 ~ 2.9% and 0.6 ~ 6.1%, respectively. The convection-based pollutant transport model was applied to two different vehicle tunnels. Coefficients of turbulent diffusion due to the atmospheric turbulence were found to be 9.78 and 17.35$m^2$/s, but measurements of smoke and CO concentrations in a tunnel with high traffic density and under operation of ventilation equipment showed relative differences of 5.88 and 6.62% compared with estimates from the convection-based model. These findings indicate convection is the governing mechanism for pollutant diffusion in most of the tunnel-type spaces.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of hydrochemical variation of groundwater on the gas tigtness in an unlined oil storage cavern. The groundwater chemistry is greatly influenced by the seawater mixing, the water curtain and the dissolution of grounting cements. The chemical composition of groundwater greatly varies ac-cording to both the location of monitoring wells and the sampling period. Most of groundwater shows alkaline pH and high electrical conductivity. The chemical types of groundwater show the dominant order as follows : Na-Cl type > Ca-Cl type > $Ca-HCO_3(CO_3)$ type. Thermodynamic equilibrium state between chemical composition of groundwater and major minerals indicates that carbonate minerals except clay minerals can be precipitated as a secondary mineral. It means that the secondary precipitates can not greatly exerts the clogging effect into fracture aperture in rock mass around oil storage cavern. The content of total organic carbon (TOC) shows a slightly increasing trend from initial stage to late stage. The $EpCO_2$ was computed so as to assess the gas contribution on the $CO_2$ in groundwater. The $EpCO_2$ of 0$\~$41.3 indicates that the contribution of oil gas on $CO_2$ pressure in groundwater system can be neglected.

  • Recently Data Centric Storage (DCS) schemes are variously studied for several applications (e.g. natural environment investigation, military application systems and environmental changes monitoring). In DCS scheme, data is stored at nodes within the network by name. There are several drawbacks in the existing schemes. The first is the inefficiency of the range query processing on not considered the locality of store point. the second is the non-homogeneity of store load of each sensors in case of the sensor distribution density is non-uniformed. In this paper, we propose a novel data centric storage scheme with the sensor distribution density which satisfied with the locality of data store location. This scheme divides whole sensor network area using grid and distributes the density bit map witch consist of the sensor density information of each cell. sensors use the density bit map for storing and searching the data. We evaluate our scheme with existing schemes. As a result, we show improved load balancing and more efficient range query processing than existing schemes in environment which sensors are distributed non-uniform.

  • Increase of pore fluid pressure resulting from injection of $CO_2$ may reactivate pre-existing faults, and the induced seismic activities can raise the safety issues such as seal integrity, restoration of storage capacity, and, in the worst case, removal of previously injected $CO_2$. Thus, fault stability and potential for $CO_2$ leakage need to be assessed at the stage of site selection and planning of injection pressure, based on the results of large-scale site investigations and numerical modeling for various scenarios. In this report, studies on the assessment of fault stability during injection of $CO_2$ were reviewed. The seismic activities associated with an artificial injection of fluids or a release of naturally trapped high-pressure fluids were first examined, and then site investigation methods for the magnitude and orientation of in situ stresses, the distribution and change of pore fluid pressure, and the location of faults were generally summarized. Recent research cases on possibility estimation of fault reactivation, prediction of seismic magnitude, and modeling of $CO_2$ leakage through a reactivated fault were presented.

  • Since the safety of nuclear power plant has been becoming a big social issue the exposure dose of radiation for workers has been one of the important factors concerning the safety problem. The existing calculation methods of radiation dose used in the planning of radiation work assume that dose rate does not depend on the location within a work space thus the variation of exposure dose by different work path is not considered. In this study, a modified numerical method was presented to estimate the exposure dose during radiation work in radwaste storage considering the effects of the distance between a worker and sources. And a new numerical algorithm was suggested to search the optimal work path minimizing the exposure dose in pre-defined work space with given radiation sources. Finally, a virtual work simulation program was developed to visualize the exposure dose of radiation doting radiation works in radwaste storage and provide the capability of simulation for work planning. As a numerical example, a test radiation work was simulated under given space and two radiation sources, and the suggested optimal work path was compared with three predefined work paths. The optimal work path obtained in the study could reduce the exposure dose for the given test work. Based on the results, tile developed numerical method and simulation program could be useful tools in the planning of radiation work.

  • This study proposed "Reservoir Park", which added disaster prevention function to urban green spaces such as city parks through domestic and overseas related laws review, case studies, field trips. This is a combination of urban parks and reservoirs as urban planning facilities, which can provide both space for daily use by urban residents and disaster mitigation functions in case of emergency. In order to prevent flooding in urban areas due to climate change, facilities should be installed in the form of parks, etc., as the reservoir facility should be systematically reviewed together with urban planning facilities. However it was found that the reservoir park was not clear as a theme park. In this study, the types of storage facilities in urban areas were reclassified into five types of storage parks reflecting the characteristics of urban green spaces through domestic case studies and field trips. The classification of the reservoir parks is classified into 5 kinds such as ecological type, vegetation cover type, exercise facility type, underground burial type and hybrid type based on groundwater level, human use, and reservoir size. This classification system can be used to determine the types of facilities to be built after designating the location of future storage facilities.

  • Recently, in order to store and manage big data, research and development of a high-performance storage system capable of stably accessing large data have been actively conducted. In particular, storage systems in data centers and enterprise environments use large amounts of SSD (solid state disk) to manage large amounts of data. In general, SSD uses FTL(flash transfer layer) to hide the characteristics of NAND flash memory, which is a medium, and to efficiently manage data. However, FTL's algorithm has a limitation in using DRAM more to manage the location information of NAND where data is stored as the capacity of SSD increases. Therefore, this paper introduces FTL policies that apply virtual memory to reduce DRAM resources used in FTL. The virtual memory-based FTL policy proposed in this paper manages the map data by using LRU (least recently used) policy to load the mapping information of the recently used data into the DRAM space and store the previously used information in NAND. Finally, through experiments, performance and resource usage consumed during data write processing of virtual memory-based FTL and general FTL are measured and analyzed.

  • To reduce the damage of extreme flooding caused by climate change and to create flood mitigation sections in a nature-friendly riparian area, it is necessary to restore the floodplain area by referring to the past floodplain section of the current inland waterfront area before the levee was built. This study proposed a method of selecting a location for floodplain restoration using old maps of the Geum River study section and analyzed the effect of flood level reduction through unsteady flow numerical simulations using the floodplain as a flood mitigation space. As a result of analyzing changes in the river areas using old maps, the river section was estimated to gradually reduce by 27.8% (1,059,380 m2) in 2020 compared to 1919, and it was found to have an effective storage capacity of 2,200,868 m3 when restored to offline storage. The flood level and discharge control effects analyzed based on HEC-RAS unsteady flow simulation were 16 cm and 219.01 m3/s, respectively, in the downstream cross-section. In the numerical simulation in this paper, the flood mitigation space was applied as an offline reservoir. The effect of reducing the flood level may differ if levee retreat/relocation is applied.
