The subject of this study were residents who live in brand apartments located in Seoul. The survey were carried out from november to December 2006. The data were analyzed through SPSS/PC+ using frequency, percentage and crossovers. The results of this study are as following, 1. A number of respondents would have trouble in using the bathroom by other family members' occupation once a week or more. The functional fraction of bathroom space is needed. 2. Close adjacency to Powder space, dress room is preferred. Coordination of washbasin and powder space is also needed. 3. Each separated spaces can be connected with other related spaces.
The noise in apartment buildings are major factor that determine the quality of indoor noise environment. Particularly, the noise from children's running footsteps and plumbing noise have caused the residents who live in decrepit apartment houses to uncomfortable environment. And as time go by, sound performance are getting worse according to the aging of the facilities. So this study deals with the plans to improve the sound performance of decrepit apartment house. To compare the noise reduction, we measured the heavy-weight impact sound level and plumbing noise level before and after changes the measurement conditions. As the results of measurements, the heavy-weight impact sound level were decreased when stiffness reinforcement were installed on slab. Especially the sound level were decreased 2.1-7.6dB in 50-80Hz of low frequency range. Instead of PVC pipe system, cast iron pipe and triple elbow drain pipe systems were installed. Noise level were decreased 15dB(A) in 250Hz. Noise level of pipe system's on the slab is less than under slab one. On the contrary water saving stool showed increasing the noise level.
Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of 3 times/week and 5 times/week abdominal meridian massage with aroma oils (AMMAO) on the relief of constipation among hospitalized children with disabilities involving the brain lesions (cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and others). Methods: The participants were 33 hospitalized children with a disability involving the brain (15 were in the 5 times/week of AMMAO group and 18 were in the 3 times/week of AMMAO group). Data were collected from March 21 to May 1, 2011. Chi-square test, t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS 18.0 were used to evaluate the effects of AMMAO. Results: While there was no significant difference between the two groups, there was a significant difference within groups between baseline and the end of the intervention period for the following, frequency of suppository use or enemas, amount of stool, and number of bowel movements. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that AMMAO is an effective nursing intervention in relief of constipation for hospitalized children with a disability involving the brain. Therefore it is recommended that AMMAO be used in clinical practice as an effective nursing intervention for relief of constipation to these children.
This study investigated the effects of soy oligosaccharide consumption on feces bifidobacteria proliferation and feces lipid profiles in Korean young women. Eight healthy young women (25 - 34 years) were fed 15 g/day of soyoligosaccharide solution, containing 3 g of oligosaccharide as form of raffinose and starchyose, for 15 days with their habitual meals. Soyoligosaccharde intake increased the numbers of fecal total bacteria significantly until 10 days (p < 0.05) and the numbers of fecal bifidobactreia were significantly increased until 15 days (p < 0.05) . The fecal pH was significantly decreased (p < 0.05) by soyligosaccharide intake. Fecal lipid concentration showed the trend to increse, especially fecal triglyceride level was significantly increased by soy oligosaccharide intake (p < 0.05). The water contents of feces, the amount of feces, evacuation frequency and taking time to evacuation were not affected by soyoligosaccharide intake. The color of feces changed to yellow-brown, and hardness of stool and effort to evacuation were reduced by soyoligosaccharide intake. These results suggest that soyoligosaccharide intake (3 g/day) in young women improved the gut microflora and fecal lipid profile. Therefore, soy oligosaccharide has a potential to be used as one of the promising prebiotics, and controlled trials with larger sample sizes and longer duration are need to be studied further.

The purpose of this paper was to investigated to the relationship between longevity and Sasang Constitution. The investigation of this paper is composed of 4 parts. First part is investigated to the distribution of sex constitution and constitutional form. Second part is the distribution of the special of body quality(blood pressure, Pulse, Respiration, heredity, stool frequency) and the disease. Third part is the relation of the longevity reason(diet, alcohol intake, smoking). Fourth part is the relationship between the QSCC II and longevity reason. The results were as follows : 1. In case of a macrobian, Soyangin is much more in constitution. 2. A macrobian is generally short and thin. 3. About the macrobian's strength of heredity, there is no any meaningful conclusion, but more studying relationship between heredity and longevity is needed. 4. A macrobian has normal condition in blood pressure, pulse and feces condition. 5. In case of macrobian, the portion of a light eater, non-smoker, and abstainer is high, they like warm food. 6. A macrobian who is active and diligent has high accomplishment and good sociality. Considering above conclusion, a macrobian is related to Soyangin in characteristic of constitution. In the future, more studying is needed whether the macrobian has kept their lives with their unique preservation of health or not.
1. Objectives Theoretically Healthy Condition of four constitution is based on intact state of four fundamental factors - digestion, urination, perspiration, defecation. Each one of these four factors is specifically related to its respective constitution. We made SHI(Sasangin Health Index) 10 items from four factors, and examined clinical efficacy of the four factors as index of health status in four constitution. 2. Methods and Procedures We offered QSCCII, SHI and SF-36 questionnaires to adults who had a periodic medical examination. 233 adults were classified to one of four constitution. We compared means of 8 scale scores of SF-36, and computed the correlation coefficient between 8 scale scores of SF-36 and 10 item scores of SHI in four constitution. 3. Results In Soyangin, stool volume and frequency are weakly correlated with health status(P<0.05). In Soeumin, appetite is weakly correlated with health status(P<0.05). In Taeumin, there is no correlation between perspiration and health status. 4. Conclusions 2 factors - digestion, defecation - had clinical efficacy as index of health status.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of abdominal aroma massage on constipation in college women with functional constipation. Methods: The participants were 24 college women residing in a dormitory of D college located in Gangwon Province. Thirteen were selected for the abdominal aroma massage group (experimental) and 11 for the simple abdominal massage group (control). The experimental treatment was abdominal aroma massage given 5 days a week for 2 weeks. The aroma massage was given using aroma oil mixed with lemon, lavender, rosemary, and cyprus with carrier oil. Weekly defecation frequency, length of time for defecation, and constipation assessment score were measured before the treatment and at 1 week, and 2 weeks after the treatment. Effects of the treatment were tested using repeated measures ANOVA with the SPSS program. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups, but there was a significant difference within the experimental group in length of time for defecation (1st and 2nd week) and in constipation assessment score (2nd week). Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that abdominal aroma massage is useful in relieving constipation and can contribute to the reduction of use of stool softeners, suppositories, or enemas. after different duration of experiment.
