Friction stir welding is one of the interesting welding methods for titanium and its alloy which proceeds with plastic flow due to thermo-mechanical stirring and friction heat. Solid-state welding can solve severe problems such as high-temperature oxidation, interstitial oxygen diffusion and grain coarsening by liquid-state welding. Dynamic recrystallization and grain refinement can vary significantly with the plunging load and rotational speed of tool during friction stir welding, and suitable process conditions must be optimized to obtain microstructure and better mechanical characteristics. Suitable FSW conditions were 1000 kg of plunging load and 200 rpm of rotational speed and it showed YS 270 MPa, UTS 332.1 MPa, and El 17.3%, which were very similar to those of wrought titanium sheet.

In this study, based on hydrolysis and condensation via $St{\ddot{o}}ber$ process of sol-gel method, synthesis of mono-dispersed silica nanoparticles was carried out with hydrophilic solvent. This operation was expected to be a more simplified process than that with organic solvent. Based on the sol-gel method, which involves simply controlling the particle size, the particle size of the synthesized silica specimens were ranged from 30 to 300 nm by controlling the composition of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), DI water and ammonia solution, and by varying the stirring speeds while maintaining a fixed amount of ethanol. Increasing the content of DI water and decreasing the content of ammonia caused the particle size to decrease, while controlling the stirring speed at a high level of RPMs enabled a decrease of the particle size. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were utilized to investigate the success factors for synthesizing process; Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) was used to study the effects of the size and morphology of the synthesized particles. To analyze the dispersion properties, zeta potential and particle size distribution (PSD) analyses were utilized.

An air-core vortex is generated during draining after stirring a rotating cylindrical tank or after filling it with water. The formation of the air-core vortex and the time of its formation are dependent on drain conditions such as the dimensions of the tank, the initial rotation or stirring speed, and the shape of the drain port. In this study, a draining process using a two-stage drain port was numerically investigated. The length and radius of the first drain stage located in the lower part of the drain port were kept constant, whereas the radius of the second drain stage was varied for simulating the draining process. The simulation was conducted by considering an axisymmetric swirling flow for all cases. The declining water level was monitored by an interface capturing method. Further, the effects of the radius of the second drain stage on the time of formation of the air-core vortex and the internal flow structure were investigated.

The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) has mainly been used for making butt joints in Al alloys. The development of Friction Stir Lap Welding (FSLW) would expand the number of applications. In this study, microstructures and mechanical properties of FSLW in A5052 alloy were investigated under varying rotating speed and probe length. Investigating the characteristics as FSLWed conditions were as below ; Failure Maximum load by shear fracture was increased proportional to the width of joint area, which was increased by input heat, stirring intensity in the case of 2.3 mm probe length. Tensile fracture occurred, and maximum load was determined due to side worm hole of joint area and softening of microstructure in the case of 3.0 mm probe length. In the case of 3.7 mm probe length, material hook and bottom worm hole were appeared at the end interface of joint area. The most sound FSLW condition with no defects was 3.0 mm probe length and 1500 rpm-100 mm/min. No defects were showed in 1500 rpm-100 mm/min and 1800 rpm-100 mm/min, but Vickers microhardness distribution in TMAZ/HAZ which was fracture zone was lower in 1800 rpm-100 mm/min than in 1500 rpm-100 mm/min. In this condition highest tensile strength, 215 MPa (allowable rate 78% of joint efficient) was obtained.

Coastal boundary current flows along the eastern boundary of the Yellow Sea and its speed was about 0.l m/s during the summer 2007. In order to find major factors that affect the coastal boundary current in the eastern Yellow Sea, three-dimensional numerical model experiments were performed. The model simulation results were validated against hydrographic and current meter data in the eastern Yellow Sea. The eastern boundary current flows along the bottom front over the upper part of slopping bottom. Strength and position of the current were affected by tides, winds, local river discharge, and solar radiation. Tidal stirring and surface wind mixing were major factors that control the summertime boundary currents along the bottom front. Tidal stirring was essential to generate the bottom temperature front and boundary current. Wind mixing made the boundary current wider and augmented its north-ward transport. Buoyancy forcing from the freshwater input and solar radiation also affected the boundary current but their contributions were minor. Strong (weak) tidal mixing during spring (neap) tides made the northward transport larger (smaller) in the numerical simulations. But offshore position of the eastern boundary current's major axis was not apparently changed by the spring-neap cycle in the mid-eastern Yellow Sea due to strong summer stratification. The mean position of coastal boundary current varied due to variations in the level of wind mixing.
The microencapsulation of sodium naproxen with Eudragit. RS was studied by coacrtvation/phase separation process using Span 80 in mineral oil/acetone system. Various factors which affect the mciroencapsulation, e.g., stirring speed, and surfactant concentraction, Eudagit RS concentration and loading drug amounts were examined. For the evaluation of the prepared microcapsules, release rate, particle size distribution and surface appearance as well as in vivo test were carried out. The addition of n-hexane and freezing of microcapsules accelerated the hardening of microcapsules. The optimum concentration of Span 80 ti prepare the smallest microcapsules was the same value with the CMC of Span 80 in solvent system. When 1.5% (w/w) Span 80 was used, the smallest microcapsules were formed $(30.02\pm5.05\mu$ in diameter) belonging to the powder category showing smooth, round and uniform surface. The release of sodium naproxen was retarded by microencapsulation with Eudragit RS. The Eudragit RS microcapsules showed significantly increased AUC and MRT and deceased Cl/F in rabbits.

In this study, novel activated silicate grout solution for injection grouting was prepared by the reaction of ordinary waterglass with alkaline earth metal salts mixture by means of the high-speed stirring method with strong shearing force, and its chemical and physical properties were investigated. The variation of its gelation time plotted with the amount of dilution water showed that this novel silicate had better gelation characteristics in comparison with ordinary waterglass. And some other engineering characteristics of this grout such as durability and mechanical properties were investigated experimentally. The whole experimental results established that this novel silicate grout was a good alternative with an existing ordinary waterglass grouting method.
A process for the preparation of cobalt oxide powders was developed by the evaporaton of emulsion containing cobalt. The characteristics of powders were examined by means of DTA, X-ray diffracton, SEM, PSA. Cobalt oxide powders were produced by evaporating the emulsion prepared by mixing cobalt sulfate solution and organic phase consisted of kerosene, Span 80 and D2EHPA in the kerosene bath at 16$0^{\circ}C$, then the precursor obtained was calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$. As the concentration of cobalt ions in the aqueous solution, Span 80 and the stirring speed increased, the mean size of cobalt oxide powders decreased and the size distribution was improved. At the volume ratio of one of the aqueous to organic phase, the finest mean size and the optimum size distribution was obtained. On the other hand the concentration of D2EHPA and liquid paraffin had little effect on the mean size as well as on the size distribution of powders.
This article has investigated the spatial distribution of the solid particles in polymerization reactors using CFD analysis (FLUENT v. 6.2.1). The suspension of the solids in stirred reactors is affected by a number of parameters including particle diameter, vessel shape, impeller size, impeller speed, and rotating direction of stirrer. The degree of solids suspension in the vessel was quantified with a statistical average value, ${\sigma}^2$. The best stirring conditions were determined based on ${\sigma}^2$, which was found to depend on the vessel bottom shape.
$Cu-Al_20_3 $ composite powders were prepared by hydrogen reduction of $Cu^{2+}$ from ammoniacal copper sulfate solution on alumina core using autoclave. The copper reduction rate and the properties of copper layer were investigated using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), X-ray diffractometer, size and chemical analyzers. The reduction rate of $Cu^{2+}$ showed the maximum value when the molar ratio of [$NH_3$]/[$Cu^{2+}$] was 2. In order to prevent the agglomeration of Cu powder and ethane reduction rate, $Fe^{2+}$ and anthraquinone which act as catalysis were added in the solution. Catalysis was effectively chanced with the addition of two elemerts at a time. Optimum conditions obtained in this study were hydrogen reduction temperature of 205$^{\cire}C$, stirring speed of 500 rpm and hydrogen partial pressure of 300 psi. Obtained $Cu-Al_20_3 $ composite Powders were found to have the uniform and continuous copper coating layer of nodule shape with 3~5 $\mu$m thickness.
