We present a method for creating realistic 2D stick figure animations easily and rapidly using captured motion data. Stick figure animations are typically created by drawing a single pose for each frame manually for the entire time interval. In contrast, our method allows the user to summarize an action (e.g. kick, jump) for an extended period of time into a single image in which one or more action lines are drawn over a stick figure to represent the moving directions of body parts. In order to synthesize a series of time-varying poses automatically from the given image, our system first builds a deformable character model that can make arbitrary deformations of the user's stick figure drawing in 2D plane. Then, the system searches for an optimal motion segment that best fits the given pose and action lines from pre-recorded motion database. Deforming the character model to imitate the retrieved motion segment produces the final stick figure animation. We demonstrate the usefulness of our method in creating interesting stick figure animations with little effort through experiments using a variety of stick figure styles and captured motion data.
Frontier (1976) suggested a criterion based on the expected length of ordered random intervals under the Broken-stick model (Barton and David, 1956) to determine the optimal number of principal components retained. It is considered to be one of the methods that provide the most consistent simulation results (Jackson, 1993). This study is aimed to propose a method using the distribution of ordered random intervals to evaluate the contribution of principal components. We also examine several types of Gini indices along with the corresponding Lorenz curves to visualize the overall equivalence of those contributions.
This paper presents an approach to detect the dielectric condition of FRP Hot Stick in EHV high voltage cable whereas shutting down the power system is not necessary. The radio frequency generating method is adopted by transmitting radio wave into the Electrodes. This instrument is small, easy to use and also inexpensive. Furthermore, the impurity level of dirt on high voltage insulator (non-ceramic type) will be analyzed by using the methods based on IEEE Std.978-1984 at 105 kV.DC. /305 mm. and OSHA Regulation 1910.269 Part J - live line tools. The frequency at 10-20 MHz is applied to FRP Hot Stick via Electrode1 and from FRP Hot Stick surface to Electrode 2. After that the results will be evaluated by testing in each condition of FRP Hot Stick, such as dry surface, hot surface, foil winding and conductor inserting. Finally, the watt loss will be examined and compared with the loss from humidity and Carbon tracking. The important components of this system are radio frequency generating unit, frequency stabilizing unit, frequency amplifier, FRP Hot Stick frequency counter, processing unit, and display unit.

The friction is inevitable and unpredictable phenomena, so most mechanical systems are designed to low friction effect by using bearings and lubricants. However, the slip-stick actuator applies the friction force to its movement. The slip-stick mechanism is applied the piezoelectric actuator to overcome short displacement. Fast response of piezoelectric actuator is also good characteristic for the slip-stick mechanism. However, the piezoelectric actuator with slip-stick mechanism isn't common, because its cost and driving voltage are too high. In this paper, a voice-coil actuator with slip-stick mechanism is introduced. The cost and the driving voltage of a voice-coil actuator are much less than the piezoelectric actuator. And a dynamic vibration amplifier is proposed to adjust the dynamic performance of the actuator. By the results of numerical analysis, the feasibility of a dynamic vibration amplifier is verified.

Stick-slip friction is one of the material removal mechanisms in tribology. This stick-slip friction occurs when the static friction force is larger than the dynamic friction force, and make the friction curve fluctuated. In the friction force monitoring system for chemical mechanical polishing(CMP), the friction force also vibrates just as stick-slip friction. It seems that the stick-slip friction causes scratches on the surface of moving parts. In this paper, A study on the scratches which occur during copper CMP was conducted in a view of stick-slip friction.
Needle stick injury, in which blood-borne pathogens including Human Immune-Deficiency virus and hepatitis B virus are transmitted, is one of the major occupational hazards that health professionals face everyday. In order to provide basic data for the development of educational programs for health professionals aimed at preventing and effectively managing needle stick injuries, a retrospective descriptive study was carried out .The subjects of the study were 630 health professionals, 499 nurses and 131 physicians, from two university hospitals in Seoul, Korea. Data on episodes of needle stick experiences over the past is months September 1994 through August 1995, were collected between September 1 and 7, 1995. A Questionaire developed by the researcher was used. The frequencies and the percentile score for episodes of needle stick injuries were calculated using the PC-SAS program. The differences and similarities in reference to the structure, career, and specialty variables were analysed by X$^2$-tests. Results are as follows : 1. Of the sample, 521(82.7%) reported a needle stick injury, 33.4% reported 3 or more episodes of needle stick injuries. 2. The needle stick injuries occured in the following processes : process of percutaneous venepuncture for intra-venous injection and infusion(55.3%), medical examination and treatment(48.9%), per-cutaneous venepuncture for blood sampling (46.3%) and intra-muscular injection(42.2%). 3. The study showed that needle stick injuries occured before(19%), during(25%), and after (56%) client treatment. The major causes of needle stick injuries were perceived to be hastiness(82.2%) and carelessness(48.3%). Of these injuries, 91.8% occured in emergency situations. 4. Follow of care for the injury consisted of : treating the injured site immediately using disinfectants(89.7%), reviewing the clinical records of the patient involved(84.2%), immunological investigation for the status of antibodies(11.1%) and self-medication of antibiotics (10.7%). Only 16.3% of the total episodes were founded to have been reported to the administrative unit. 5. The length of clinical experience of the nurses, clinical specialty and length of clinical experience in physicians were found to have influenced the episodes of needle stick injuries ; nurses with less than 1 year and with more than 6 years of clinical experiences had significantly lower levels (X$^2$=25.04, P=.00), surgeons had significantly higher levels (X$^2$=9.89, P=.02) compared to that of internists and interns, higher(X$^2$=4.54, P=.03)than residents.
We will examine the stick number of knots on the cubic lattice which is called the lattice stick number. The lattice stick numbers of knots $3_1$ and $4_1$ are known as 12 and 14, respectively. In this paper, we will show that only $3_1$ and $4_1$ have representations of irreducible non-trivial polygons, both numbers of whose sticks parallel to the y-axis and the z-axis are exactly four.

n the ballscrew slide system the ~najor problems in accomplishing the high-speed and high-precision are the friction between elements and the decrease of axial stiffness. Especially the friction on the guide have a bad effect on the precision of slidlng. Furthermore stick-slip occur when the low stiffness of slide system. The sticli-slip have a bad influence on the precision. In this research, the affection of stick-slip friction to the precision of the slide system is studied and the possible solution of the precision is proixjsed.

Stick-PC is small and portable, So it can be used like a desktop if you connect it to a display device such as a monitor or TV anytime and anywhere. Accordingly, Stick-PC can related to various crimes, and various evidence may remain. Stick-PC uses the same Windows version of the operating system as the regular Desktop, the artifacts to be analyzed are the same. However, unlike the Desktop, it can be used as a meaningful information for forensic investigation if it is possible to identify the actual user and trace the usage by finding the traces of peripheral devices before analyzing the system due to the mobility. In this paper, We presents a method of collecting images using Bootable OS, which is one of the image collection methods of Stick-PC. In addition, we show how to analyze the trace of peripheral connection and network connection trace such as Display, Bluetooth through the registry and event log, and suggest the application method from the forensic point of view through experimental scenario.

In this paper, we proposed the standard test specification for safety and function of hiking stick for the elderly. We have concluded nine factors representing specification of hiking stick through analysis of hiking patents and research papers, products survey of business market, case studies for damaged hiking stick and expert surveys. To test the factors, we designed three different kinds of apparatus to examine twist resistance, stick and tip durability and stick straightness. The sample of hiking sticks purchased from market based on Naver sales ranking top to fifteenth. As a result, we concluded six-standard test specification based on eccentric load, adjustable parts load, hand strap load, basket load, tip load and pull load of hiking stick.
