디지털 이미지 분석을 이용한 부유성 유공충 화석의 권각 방향과 종 분류 결정법 (A Method for Determining the Coiling Ratio and Classifying Species of Fossil Planktonic Foraminifera Using Digital Image Analysis)

  • 이 연구에서는 디지털 이미지 분석법을 활용하여 북동태평양 ODP Leg 204 시추 코아 시료에서 산출된 부유성 유공충 Neogloboquadrina pachyderma 권각의 감긴 방향을 컴퓨터 프로그래밍으로 결정하였다. 이것은 유공충 군집 이미지에서 N. pachyderma 개체를 자동 인식하게 한 것이며, N. pachyderma 권각 방향을 컴퓨터 프로그래밍으로 결정할 수 있도록 고안한 것이다. 이 알고리즘을 이용한 새로운 판독 방법을 사용한 결과 유공충 시료에 대한 정량 분석이 빠르게 수행될 수 있게 되었으며, 실제현미경을 통한 관찰 결과와 비교하였을 때 약 90% 만큼 높게 일치하였다. 이 수치는 컴퓨터를 이용한 디지털 이미지 분석이 미고생물학 분야에 성공적으로 적용될 수 있다는 점을 시사하고 있다.

Estimation of CME 3-D parameters using a full ice-cream cone model

  • In space weather forecast, it is important to determine three-dimensional properties of CMEs. Using 29 limb CMEs, we examine which cone type is close to a CME three-dimensional structure. We find that most CMEs have near full ice-cream cone structure which is a symmetrical circular cone combined with a hemisphere. We develop a full ice-cream cone model based on a new methodology that the full ice-cream cone consists of many flat cones with different heights and angular widths. By applying this model to 12 SOHO/LASCO halo CMEs, we find that 3D parameters from our method are similar to those from other stereoscopic methods (i.e., a triangulation method and a Graduated Cylindrical Shell model). In addition, we derive CME mean density (${\bar{\rho}_{CME}}={\frac{M_{total}}{V_{cone}}}$) based on the full ice-cream cone structure. For several limb events, we determine CME mass by applying the Solarsoft procedure (e.g., cme_mass.pro) to SOHO/LASCO C3 images. CME volumes are estimated from the full ice-cream cone structure. For the first time, we derive average CME densities as a function of CME height for several CMEs, which are well fitted to power-law functions. We will compare densities (front and average) of geoeffective CMEs and their corresponding ICME ones.

양안식 시각자극의 너비에 의한 시각적 불편함 (Visual discomfort in stereoscopic images caused by the horizontal size of binocular visual stimulus)

  • 최근 양안식 3D 디스플레이의 시청 안정성 문제가 대두됨에 따라, 어떠한 요인들이 시각피로와 시각적 불편함을 야기하는지 밝히는 연구의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 시각적 불편함은 양안식 3D 영상에서 과도한 양안 시차, 양안 시차의 빠른 변화, 양안 불일치 등에 의해 야기될 수 있다. 그러나 시각적 불편함은 시각시스템의 복잡한 메커니즘에 의한 결과이므로 알려진 양안 시차 등의 요인 외에도 밝혀지지 않은 요인들이 더 존재할 수 있다. 본 논문은 기존 연구로부터 시각적 불편함과 관련 있을 것으로 추정되는 요인으로 시각자극의 너비와 시각적 불편함에 대한 민감도를 선택하였다. 이들의 영향을 밝히기 위한 실험으로서, 편안한 양안 시차 범위 내에서 시각자극의 너비와 시각적 불편함에 대한 민감도에 따라 양안 융합 시간이 어떻게 달라지는지를 관찰하였다. 실험 결과로부터 편안한 양안 시차 범위 내에서도 시각자극의 너비와 시각적 불편함에 대한 민감도에 따라 양안 융합 시간이 크게 달라짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과들은 시각자극의 너비가 주요한 시각적 불편함의 3D 콘텐츠 요인이 될 수 있음을 암시한다.

Visual Fatigue Reduction Based on Depth Adjustment for DIBR System

  • A depth adjustment method for visual fatigue reduction for depth-image-based rendering (DIBR) system is proposed. One important aspect of the method is that no calibration parameters are needed for adjustment. By analyzing 3D image warping, the perceived depth is expressed as a function of three adjustable parameters: virtual view number, scale factor and depth value of zero parallax setting (ZPS) plane. Adjusting these three parameters according to the proposed parameter modification algorithm when performing 3D image warping can effectively change the perceived depth of stereo pairs generated in DIBR system. As the depth adjustment is performed in simple 3D image warping equations, the proposed method is facilitative for hardware implementation. Experimental results show that the proposed depth adjustment method provides an improvement in visual comfort of stereo pairs as well as generating comfortable stereoscopic images with different perceived depths that people desire.

하나의 카메라를 이용한 인터렉티스 3D 집적 영상 시스템 (Interactive 3D Integral Imaging System using Single Camera)

  • 최근 무안경식 3D 디스플레이 방법으로 잘 알려진 3D 집적 영상 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이 3D 집적 영상 기술은 연속적인 시점, 완전 시차와 풀 칼라 영상을 공중에 표현하는 유망한 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 한 대의 카메라를 이용한 새로운 형태의 인터렉티스 3D 집적 영상 시스템을 제안한다. 이 장치는 기존의 3D 집적 영상 디스플레이 시스템에 단순한 한 대의 카메라를 추가적으로 사용하여 유저 인터페이스가 구현될 수 있다. 제안하는 시스템의 가능성을 보이기 위해서, 실험적인 장치 구현을 수행하고 기초적인 실험 결과를 보고한다. 우리가 아는 한 제안하는 방법은 3D 집적 영상 시스템에 최초로 인터렉션 기능을 추가한 것이다.

A New Rectification Scheme for Uncalibrated Stereo Image Pairs and Its Application to Intermediate View Reconstruction

  • In this paper, a new rectification scheme to transform the uncalibrated stereo image pair into the calibrated one is suggested and its performance is analyzed by applying this scheme to the reconstruction of the intermediate views for multi-view stereoscopic display. In the proposed method, feature points are extracted from the stereo image pair by detecting the comers and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image pair. These detected feature points, are then used to extract moving vectors between the stereo image pair and the epipolar line. Finally, the input stereo image pair is rectified by matching the extracted epipolar line between the stereo image pair in the horizontal direction. Based on some experiments done on the synthesis of the intermediate views by using the calibrated stereo image pairs through the proposed rectification algorithm and the uncalibrated ones for three kinds of stereo image pairs; 'Man', 'Face' and 'Car', it is found that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed from the calibrated images improved by about 2.5${\sim}$3.26 dB than those of the uncalibrated ones.

홀로렌즈를 이용한 장기 투영 시스템 (The Organ projection system using holographic lens)

  • 일반적으로 현재 많이 사용하는 장기 투영 시스템은 MRI와 CT이다. MRI와 CT는 전자기장을 이용하여 인체를 절개하지 않고 내부 장기를 의사가 볼 수 있도록 한다. 하지만 문제점은 단면적으로 영상을 보여주기 때문에 의사들이 내부 장기를 입체적으로 관찰하기 어려운 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 증강현실의 기술을 이용하여 사람의 내부 장기를 현실에 투영 할 수 있는 시스템을 개발한다. 개발한 시스템은 홀로렌즈를 이용하여 환자의 신체위로 내부 장기를 입체 영상으로 보여주며 핸드 모션을 이용하여 내부 장기를 이동시켜 상세하게 관찰이 가능하게 한다.

  • Hot Spring Law of Taiwan was passed in legislative assembly on 3 June 2003. Hot springs would become one of the most important natural resources for recreation purposes. Both public and private sectors will invest large amount of capital in this area in the near future. The value of remote sensing technology is to give a critical tool for observing the landscape to find out mega-scaled geological structures, which may not be able to be found by conventional approaches. The occurrences of the hot springs in Taiwan are mostly in metamorphic and sedimentary rocks , other than in volcanic environments. Local geothermal anomaly or heat of springs transfer by liquid convection other than conduction or radiation. The deeply -seated fractures of hard rocks are the conduit of the convection of hot water, which could be as deep as 3000 meters in a hypothetical model of Taiwan. Clues to find outcrops of hot spring can be obtained by a structure-controlled model deduced by geological lineaments observed by satellite images and stereoscopic interpretation of aerial photographs. A case study conducted in Eastern Taiwan will be demonstrated.

AR기술을 활용한 어린이 교육 어플리케이션 디자인 (Children's Education Application Design Using AR Technology)

  • Augmented reality is a technique for combining virtual images into real life by showing information of virtual 3D objects on top of a real-world environment (Azuma et al., 2001). This study is an augmented reality-based educational content delivery device that receives user input that selects either a preset object or a photographed object for augmented reality-based training; It includes a three-dimensional design generation unit that generates a stereoscopic model of the augmented reality environment from an object, a three-dimensional view of the scene, a disassembly process of the developing road from a three-dimensional model, and a content control unit provided by the user terminal by generating educational content including a three-dimensional model, a scene chart, a scene, a decomposition process, and a coupling process to build a coupling process from the scene to the three-dimensional model in an augmented reality environment. The next study provides a variety of educational content so that children can use AR technology as well as shapes to improve learning effectiveness. We also believe that studies are needed to quantitatively measure the efficacy of which educational content is more effective when utilizing AR technology.

  • Holography is a human-friendly technology that can express 3D stereoscopic information without eye fatigue. You can experience the mysterious features of light directly and indirectly, and you can also experience the principles of 3D imaging, which makes it a very good curriculum. As such, although holography is very effective in teaching students optics and 3D imaging technology, it has not yet been systematically established. The reason is the cost burden such as expensive equipment and laboratories, and the lack of easily accessible educational equipment. We implemented a portable holographic recording system to solve this problem. In addition, since silver halides, which use harmful chemicals, are not used in the process of developing the recording medium, and photopolymers are used, it is possible to educate not only the general public but also young students. In order to improve the completeness of the recorded result, the mechanism part, light source, and recording medium part of the production system were newly constructed to complement all the existing problems. The proposed system will make holography easily accessible to many people in a variety of fields, not just education. Through the interesting experience of various features and principles of light and the production of holograms with high satisfaction, we hope to popularize them in various fields such as education.
