  • In this paper, a stereoscopic display system using a rotary disk type beam shutter and two beam projectors is proposed. It is a kind of active stereoscopic display and can be easily converted from passive stereoscopic system using polarizing filters. If it is possible to synchronize the revolution speed of the beam shutter with the integer multiple of the scanning frequency of the beam projectors, we can obtain a comparable performance with our system to an active stereoscopic system using one expensive high performance beam projector. Further, if we rotate the beam shutter at sufficiently high revolution speed, our active stereoscopic system works regardless of synchronization and thus the system is much easier to implement.

  • Stereoscopic PTV and Stereoscopic-PIV measurements have been carried out for the studies of the wake of a ship's propeller. Stereoscopic photogrammetry based on a 3D-PTV principle was introduced using two high-definition cameras(1k x 1k, 30Hz). The arrangement of the two cameras was based on angular position. The pair-matching of the three-dimensional velocity vectors were based on Genetic Algorithm based 3D-PTV technique. The results obtained by both measurement systems have been compared at the advance ratio J=0.88(290 rpm, d=54 mm). Turbulent properties have also been compared each other at the same condition.

  • The proposed technique uses a combination of two systems, viz. a three dimensional stereoscopic system and a two-lens system. This novel combined system successfully produces a stereoscopic floating image in mid air near the observer. The two-lens system produces a floating image from the stereoscopic image originating from the stereoscopic system, and the two lenses eliminate the defects of the floating lens and concave mirror. The experimental results show that the two lenses eliminate the defects of the lens and the concave mirror, so that the proposed system successfully produces a touchable stereoscopic floating image.

  • Spray characteristics in the swirling flow were investigated by Stereoscopic PIV. Spatial spray structures were measured by PIV as well as PDA in order to understand stable flame stabilization. The feasibility study of Stereoscopic PIV in spray flame was also demonstrated. The size and location of recirculation flow were measured. The stereoscopic PIV could provide 3-D flow fluctuation that cannot be measured by convectional measurement systems.

  • This paper describes how to generate stereoscopic sonar images by using multibeam data. Both parallel and crossing methods were used to create stereoscopic vision of the seafloor. Stereoscopic sonar images might provide reality and more detailed information of the target and the seafloor topography.

  • 3 dimensional stereoscopic is attracting new attention as it simulates human eye and related hardware advances. However, 3 dimensional stereoscopic requires more time and effort than 2D movie because it uses 2 cameras or 2 lenses. This study analyzed the merits and demerits of the system producing rider movie using 3 dimensional stereoscopic shooting techniques and searched a way to produce better 3 dimensional stereoscopic rider movie which meets the producing intention by applying elements required to create effective 3 dimensional stereoscopic effect. According to the study result, a light-weight integrated system was effective to create 3 dimensional stereoscopic rider movie because of its genre characteristic. In the post-production of the work, location shooting considered of time re-mapping, color correction and graphic element addition was required.

  • In this paper we implemented a field-sequential stereoscopic endoscope system that can generate stereoscopic images with different perspective depth using LCD shutter. The stereoscopic image is generated form stereoscopic adapter that has LCD shutter. We have compared the stereoscopic depth of a field-sequential stereoscopic endoscope system with that of the conventional endoscope system. And the implemented system is verified by evaluation the field-sequential stereoscopic image on a Monitor. This system will be use to medical instruments in time.

  • Since success of in the box office, there are not only highly interested in 3D Stereoscopic in Media market but also has been briskly supporting for 3D Stereoscopic producing in variety platforms including film, broadcasting, mobile They expect 3D Stereoscopic will be a new standard format for media of domestic market as well as overseas. However there are required professional production system and grant capital for 3D Stereoscopic production. In case of domestic industry, there are not forged through specialized production system and lack of 3D Stereoscopic producing. They are needed not only Pipeline for 3D Stereoscopic production but also strategic supporting like specialized education and test-bed for 3D Stereoscopic production. It is able to established efficient and specialized system for 3D Stereoscopic production given the pipeline proposal.

  • In this paper, we propose a optical property correction technique for a low-cost heterogeneous stereoscopic camera. Three main optical properties of a stereoscopic camera are zoom, focus, and DOF(depth of field). The difference or mis-match of these properties between two stereoscopic videos are the main causes of the visual fatigue to human eyes. The proposed correction technique reduces the difference of the optical properties between the stereoscopic videos and produces high-quality stereoscopic videos. To correct the zoom difference, a LUT(look-up table) is established to match the zoom ratio between the stereoscopic videos. To correct the DOF difference, the magnitude of image edge is measured and the lens iris is changed to control the DOF of the camera. A vertical-type stereoscopic rig is developed for the experiments of the optical property correction. Based on the experimental results, we find that a low-cost heterogeneous stereoscopic camera can be implemented, which can yield low visual fatigue to human eyes.

  • Purpose: This study investigated differences in stereoscopic fusional area between those with good and poor stereo acuity in viewing stereoscopic displays. Methods: Stereo acuity of 39 participants (18 males and 21 females, $23.6{\pm}3.15years$) was measured with the random dot stereo butterfly method. Participants with stereo-blindness were not included. Stereoscopic fusional area was measured using stereoscopic stimulus by varying the amount of horizontal disparity in a stereoscopic 3D TV. Participants were divided into two groups of good and poor stereo acuity. Criterion for good stereo acuity was determined as less than 60 arc seconds. Measurements arising from the participants were statistically analyzed. Results: 26 participants were measured to have good stereo acuity and 13 participants poor stereo acuity. In case of the stereoscopic stimulus farther than the fixation point, threshold of horizontal disparity for those with poor stereo acuity were measured to be smaller than the threshold for those with good stereo acuity, with a statistically significant difference. On the other hand, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups, in case of the stereoscopic stimulus nearer to the fixation point. Conclusions: In viewing stereoscopic displays, the boundary of stereoscopic fusional area for the poor stereo acuity group was smaller than the boundary of good stereo acuity group only for the range behind the display. Hence, in viewing stereoscopic displays, participants with poor stereo acuity would have more difficulty perceiving the fused image at farther distances compared to participants with good stereo acuity.
