  • The space frame structure is one of the large span structural system consisting of longitudinal and latitudinal members. The members are connected in three dimension. A space frame structure has high stiffness with a structure resisting external forces in steric conformation. According to many structural conditions, structural stability problems in the space frame are determined and considered very important. This study seeks to understand the space frame collapse mechanism using the 2-free nodes truss model in order to examine static structural instability characteristics of the latticed dome. According to geometrical shape, the star dome, parallel lamella dome and three way grid dome were selected as models. The models were examined for characteristics of instability under STEP Excitations behavior according to rise-span ratio(${\mu}$) and shape imperfection.

  • This study aims to propose a smart city governance logic model that can accommodate more diverse information service systems by mixing hub-and-spoke and blockchain technologies as a data management model. Specifically, the research focuses on deriving the logic of an operating system that can work across smart city planning based on the two data governance technologies. The first step of the logic is the generation and collection of information, which is first divided into information that requires information protection and information that can be shared with the public, and the information that requires privacy is blockchainized, and the shared information is integrated and aggregated in a data hub. The next step is the processing and use of the information, which can actively use the blockchain technology, but for the information that can be shared other than the protected information, the governance logic is built in parallel with the hub-and-spoke type. Next is the logic of the distribution stage, where the key is to establish a service contact point between service providers and beneficiaries. Also, This study proposes the establishment of a one-to-one data exchange relationship between information providers, information consumers, and information processors. Finally, in order to expand and promote citizen participation opportunities through a reasonable compensation system in the operation of smart cities, we developed virtual currency as a local currency and designed an open operation logic of local virtual currency that can operate in the compensation dimension of information.

  • In this paper, we present a new multilevel in space and energy diffusion (MSED) method for solving multigroup diffusion eigenvalue problems. The MSED method can be described as a PI scheme with three additional features: (1) a grey (one-group) diffusion equation used to efficiently converge the fission source and eigenvalue, (2) a space-dependent Wielandt shift technique used to reduce the number of PIs required, and (3) a multigrid-in-space linear solver for the linear solves required by each PI step. In MSED, the convergence of the solution of the multigroup diffusion eigenvalue problem is accelerated by performing work on lower-order equations with only one group and/or coarser spatial grids. Results from several Fourier analyses and a one-dimensional test code are provided to verify the efficiency of the MSED method and to justify the incorporation of the grey diffusion equation and the multigrid linear solver. These results highlight the potential efficiency of the MSED method as a solver for multidimensional multigroup diffusion eigenvalue problems, and they serve as a proof of principle for future work. Our ultimate goal is to implement the MSED method as an efficient solver for the two-dimensional/three-dimensional coarse mesh finite difference diffusion system in the Michigan parallel characteristics transport code. The work in this paper represents a necessary step towards that goal.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of constructing neural networks using bio-inspired emergent and evolutionary concepts. This method is algorithm that is based on the characteristics of the biological DNA and growth of plants. Here is, we propose a constructing method to make a DNA coding method for production rule of L-system. L-system is based on so-called the parallel rewriting mechanism. The DNA coding method has no limitation in expressing the production rule of L-system. Evolutionary algorithms motivated by Darwinian natural selection are population based searching methods and the high performance of which is highly dependent on the representation of solution space. In order to verify the effectiveness of our scheme, we apply it to one step ahead prediction of Mackey-Glass time series.

  • A master-slave system for teleoperation is usually used to control the robor's motion on remote place such as abyss, outer space etc.. When the slave robot is a humanoid one, it can make a better performance if the configuration of the master arm is similar to that of the slave arm and of the human. The master arm proposed in this paper has a type to be put on the human arm, that is, the exoskeleton type, and has a combination of serial joint and parallel mechanism imitating the human's arm structure of muscles and bones, so called hybrid mechanism so that it can follow arm's movement effectively. But it is easy to solve the forward kinematis of the parallel structure because relating equations are implicit functions. In order to solve that, the virtual joint angle corresponding to human arm's joint is introduced and a sequential computation step is employed in calculating virtual joint angles and the posture of the end effector. Also validity is checked up through computational simulation.

  • We present a novel multi-core CPU based parallel algorithm for the cell-connectivity information extraction algorithm, which is one of the preprocessing steps for volume rendering of unstructured grid data. We first check the synchronization issues when parallelizing the prior serial algorithm naively. Then, we propose a 3-step parallel algorithm that achieves high parallelization efficiency by removing synchronization in each step. Also, our 3-step algorithm improves the cache utilization efficiency by increasing the spatial locality for the duplicated triangle test process, which is the core operation of building cell-connectivity information. We further improve the efficiency of our parallel algorithm by employing a memory pool for each thread. To check the benefit of our approach, we implemented our method on a system consisting of two octa-core CPUs and measured the performance. As a result, our method shows continuous performance improvement as we add threads. Also, it achieves up to 82.9 times higher performance compared with the prior serial algorithm when we use thirty-two threads (sixteen physical cores). These results demonstrate the high parallelization efficiency and high cache utilization efficiency of our method. Also, it validates the suitability of our algorithm for large-scale unstructured data.

  • This paper presents a design of new type biped robot and dynamic walking simulation for this system. The robot is distinguished from other one by which has a parallel mechanism type trunk and lead-screw type actuators to drive the joints of the trunk, knee and ankle. The basic consideration on the design is that it is able to accommodate itself to human's daily environments without any other modification of around and also to operate its upper limbs more smoothly with a spine functional trunk. It is designed according to a human with about 130 cm height and about 30 kg weight. And it also is able to dynamically walk on an even ground. It has constructed with total 14 DOFs which have two legs, a hip, and a trunk. The joints of each leg and trunk are adopted with a parallel structure which has good kinematic characteristics and take light weight. To test of the capacity of joint actuators and to analysis of the dynamic properties of the biped robot, optimized trunk trajectory is determined by means of an approximated FFT method based on ZMP criteria, and dynamic simulation is performed using DADS with a 1.1 time/step velocity on the even ground during four steps.

  • Lock-in and drag amplification phenomena are studied for a flexible cantilever using a simplified fluid-structure interaction approach. Instead of solving the 3D domain, a simplified setup is devised, in which 2D flow problems are solved on a number of planes parallel to the wind direction and transversal to the structure. On such planes, the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved to estimate the fluid action at different positions of the line-like structure. The fluid flow on each plane is coupled with the structural deformation at the corresponding position, affecting the dynamic behaviour of the system. An Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) approach is used to take in account the deformation of the domain, and a fractional-step scheme is used to solve the fluid field. The stabilization of incompressibility and convection is achieved through orthogonal quasi-static subscales, an approach that is believed to provide a first step towards turbulence modelling. In order to model the structural problem, a special one-dimensional element for thin walled cross-section beam is implemented. The standard second-order Bossak method is used for the time integration of the structural problem.
