The transient response of a three-dimensional straight fin of constant cross sectional area and perimeter with unequal top, bottom, left, right and tip surface convection coefficients is analyzed using separation variables and Laplace transforms when the fin base is subjected to a step change in temperature. The three-dimensional effects of fin dimensions and unequal fin surface convection coefficients on the fin performance which is expressed in terms of the heat flowrates through the fin base are investigated, and errors in one-dimensions and unequal fin surface coefficients. Typical results are represented in tabular and graphical forms.
In order to protect human lives from disease, various biosensors having the potential to analyze a variety of biomolecules have been utilized. Biosensors constitute one of the most promising ways to monitor and detect various biomolecules corresponding to diseases. In this study, we demonstrate that the reaction of streptavidin molecules with biotin on a gold electrode can be detected using the twoelectrode method with a gold electrode and a platinum reference electrode. We also show the characteristics of the electrical current response. While detecting 2-${\mu}M$ streptavidin molecules dissolved in phosphate buffered saline(PBS) solution, we found that an analytical biosensor can operate on the principle of detecting an antigen-antibody reaction event of protein molecules using the two-electrode method. We think that the "potential step" method might be useful to detect the occurrence of any antigen-antibody reactions and can be combined with other devices or ICs such as BJTs, MOSFETs, and OP-amps for the detection of biomolecules of diseases.

The direct torque control method of an inverter fed squirrel cage typed induction motor using fuzzy logic controller has been proposed. This method is suitable for the traction which requires a fast torque response during the star-up and step change. The fuzzy control algorithm based upon the control principles of conventional DSC(Direct Self Controller) is developed. The fuzzy algorithm is tarried out by defuzzification strategy of the fuzzy output extracted from the possibility distribution of an inferred fuzzy control rule. The flux and torque of an induction motor are estimated by the dynamic model of the rotor flux field-oriented scheme which has decoupling characteristics and excellent dynamic response over a wide speed range. The proposed controller shows a good dynamic response. Moreover, since the fuzzy controller possesses highly adaptive capability, the performance of fuzzy controller is quite robust and insensitive to the motor parameters and change of operation conditions.
This study examined the activity of the simulated training scenarios and special rescue crew assuming a chemical accident inside the building. To improve the response ability and safety of rescue personnel in the event of a chemical accident, a total of eight stages of simulated training scenarios were conducted and the activity was measured. As a result of the activity measurement according to the simulation training scenario, the average maximum heart rate of the rescuers was the highest at 177.50 ppm in the 4th stage, and then 176.67 ppm for the 5th step, 171.17 ppm for the 2nd step, 169.33 ppm for the 3rd step, 162.17 ppm for the 6th step, 159.58 ppm for the 7th step, 148.75 ppm for the 8th step, and 139.33 ppm for the 1st step. The mean maximum respiratory rate was the highest at 38.17 rpm in the 4th stage, followed by 37.58 rpm in the 5th stage, 32.00 rpm in the 6th stage, 31.58 ppm in the 7th stage, 31.33 rpm in the 3rd stage, 31.08 rpm in the 2nd stage, and 28.00 rpm in the 8th stage. The 1st stage was 22.67 rpm. In addition, body water reduction measurements were reduced by up to 0.7 g due to the training intensity.

Identifying students' achievement level and reflecting it on educational policy making or instructional improvement by analyzing the results of nationwide standardized assessment is an integral part of accountability in education. On the basis of this premise, we analyzed the characteristics of National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) items for middle school science subject conducted from 2010 to 2013 by using the option response rate distribution curve, the fittest graph estimated from the response rate of correct/incorrect options by achievement score. Furthermore, we classified the type of option response rate curve in terms of correct and incorrect options. Results of the analysis of option response curve showed that five types of correct option response curve (S-shaped, J-shaped, straight-shaped, F-shaped, and step-shaped) and 4 types of incorrect option response curve (down-slope, flat, mound, and up-slope) were identified. The most common type of items was the combination of S-shaped correct option response curve and down-slope incorrect option response curve, which are considered as appropriate items to discriminate the students according to achievement level. Moreover, correct option response was found to be correlated with incorrect option response. Based on the results, we also discussed some implications on teaching-learning method and classroom assessment in science education.

The popularity of augmented reality (AR) applications and games are in high demand. Currently, the best common platform to implement AR services is on a smartphone, as online games, navigators, personal assistants, travel guides are among the most popular applications of smartphones. However, the power consumption of an AR application is extremely high, and therefore, highly adaptable and dynamic low power control schemes must be used. Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) schemes are widely used in smartphones to minimize the energy consumption by controlling the device's operational frequency and voltage. DVFS schemes can sometimes lead to longer response times, which can result in a significant problem for AR applications. In this paper, an AR response time monitor is used to observe the time interval between the AR image input and device's reaction time, in order to enable improved operational frequency and AR application process priority control. Based on the proposed response time monitor and the characteristics of the Linux kernel's completely fair scheduler (CFS) (which is the default scheduler of Android based smartphones), a response time step control (RSC) scheme is proposed which adaptively adjusts the CPU frequency and interactive application's priority. The experimental results show that RSC can reduce the energy consumption up to 10.41% compared to the ondemand governor while reliably satisfying the response time performance limit of interactive applications on a smartphone.
This research is focused on the effects of salesmen's service-justice and using the IT devices on customer response. Specially, I want to know for the response when our customer take the service from the salesmen. From analysis of the resulting data, using the IT devices are increased the quality of salesmen's service-justice. Salesmen's distributive-justice affects to positive the relationship quality. But procedural justice and interactional justice cannot affect to positive the relationship quality. Maybe, I think that the reason will be a feature of insurance goods. And relationship quality affect to positive the customer's response. There are limitations on generalization due to the results based on only insurance industry, but this study will be a useful exploratory step before designing a future survey.

This study is aimed to evaluate the embedment effect of foundation as compared to the surface foundation on the response of a base-isolated nuclear power plant structure. For this purpose, the boundary reaction method (BRM), which is a two-step frequency domain and time domain technique, is used for the nonlinear SSI analysis considering nonlinear behavior of base isolators. The numerical model of the BRM is verified by comparing the numerical results obtained by the BRM and the conventional frequency-domain SSI analysis for an equivalent linear SSI system. Finally, the displacement response of the base isolation and the horizontal response of the structure obtained by the nonlinear SSI analysis using the moat foundation model are compared with those using the surface foundation model. The comparison showed that the displacement response of the base isolation can be reduced by considering the embedment effect of foundation.

The precision hydraulic valve is widely used in various industrial field like aircraft, automobile, and general machinery. Servo actuator is the most important device for driving the precise hydraulic valve. The reliable operation of servo actuator effects on the overall hydraulic system. The performance of servo actuator relies on frequency response and step response according to arbitrary input signal. In this paper, we performed the analysis for the components of servo actuator to satisfy the reliable operation and response characteristics through the reliability analysis, and also induced the design parameters to realize the reliable operation and fast response characteristics of servo actuator for hydraulic valve operation through the empirical knowledge of experts and electromagnetic theories. We suggested the design equations to determine the values of design parameters of servo actuator as like bobbin size, length of yoke and plunger and turn number of coil, and verified the achieved design values through FEM analysis and performance tests using some prototypes of servo actuators adapted in hydraulic valve.
An essential step in evaluating and comparing the performance of two passive radiation dosimeter types, thermosluminescent (TLD) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), used by workers in environments with ionizing radiation for individual radiological monitoring and control of external exposure at various times (cumulative dose for 1 month), is to compare the measured dose accuracy, energy response, and coefficient of variation. In fact this performance study consists in determining the accuracy of both R(10) and R(0.07) which are considered as the ratios of the measured dose (Hp(10) or Hp(0.07)) to the delivered dose (Hp(10) or Hp(0.07)) for each photon energy. The validity of the results of this test is based on the acceptance limits of the ICRP and the international standard IEC-62387. The relative energy response used is normalized to the 137Cs 662 keV energy to find which energy response is closest to the ideal case, and the coefficient of variation that allows to determine the statistical fluctuation of the Hp(10) and Hp(0.07) doses. The results of the accuracy test for the OSL and TLD dosimeters are acceptable because they fall within the ICRP limits. For the energy response, the OSL performs better than the TLD for Hp(10) and Hp(0.07), and for the coefficient of variation, the OSL satisfies the requirements of ISO 62387 for both Hp(10) and Hp(0.07), while the TLD satisfies these requirements only for the measurement of Hp (0.07).
