냉각압연 가공용 자동 형상제어장치의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Automatic Flatness Control System for Cold Rolling)

  • Flatness of cold rolled strip is vital to the quality of the product and productivity of the mill. Therefore, in recent year requirement for flatness control in strip rolling have become increasingly severe. The necessity for more accurate automatic gauge control and automatic flatness control(AFC) has increased by customer's requirement for cold rolled steel sheets with thinner gauge and better flatness quality. In this paper, the performance and functions of AFC system installed on the 4 hi-reversing mill has been investigated under actual conditions. The test results are as follows : The more strip thickness is thick, the smaller the I-value. The I-value is a strain measured by stressometer. Complex distributions of strip tension are controlled to remove not only a quarter buckle but also a simple center wave and edge wave. The defects caused by poor flatness have been drastically decreased. And a proper coolant temperature for work roll cooling system on the AFC system is about $50~55^{\circ}C$.

연속식 용용아연도금 공정에서의 단부 과도금 현상에 대한 수치 해석 (Analysis of Edge Overcoating in Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing)

  • The problem of edge overcoating developed near the edge of the steel strip is studied quantitatively in the gas wiping process of continuous hot-dip galvanizing. It has been assumed that the edge overcoating occurs due to the reduced impact pressure of wiping gas on the strip edge and it is one of detrimental problems to the quality of coating products. In order to analyse the edge overcoating problem numerically, three-dimensional unsteady flows due to the gas wiping are calculated by using a commercial code, STAR-CD. Standard $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ model is used as a turbulence model. The 1D code for calculation of coating thickness is constructed by using continuity and Navier-Stokes equations. The calculation results have shown good agreement with measurements of edge overcoating thickness, taken from galvanizing line trials. Therefore it is conformed that the major cause of edge overcoating is the reduced impact pressure of wiping gas on the strip surface.

주행하는 고온 강재의 상하부 동시 냉각 과정 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Simultaneous Cooling Process of Upper and Lower Side of Running Hot Steel Strip)

  • 열간 압연을 거친 $800^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온 철강 판재는 일반적으로 다중 봉상 수분류(multiple circular water jets)에 의해서 급속 냉각된다. 이 과정은 소재의 온도가 냉각수의 끓는점보다 훨씬 높기 때문에 소재 표면과 냉각수 사이에 막비등 열전달 현상이 발생하며 소재 표면에 매우 얇은 증기층이 형성되며, 이 증기층은 소재와 냉각수의 열교환을 방해하는 중요한 열저항으로 작용한다. 본 문제에는 비등 열전달 이외에도 소재 표면에 쌓이는 체류수의 자유표면 유동, 소재의 고속 주행 등 복잡한 물리현상들이 복합적으로 작용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 모든 물리현상들을 동시에 고려할 수 있는 해석 절차를 적용하여 일정한 속도로 주행하는 고온 철강 판재의 상하부 동시 냉각 과정을 3 차원 수치해석 하였으며, 소재 상부 및 하부 면의 냉각 특성을 비교하였다.

  • POSCO has been developed a general purpose dynamic simulator of the hot strip steel mill. The simulator is a tool for developing the process control system in an industrial system solution business, by making the most use of control and simulation techniques fostered in steelmaking business. This simulator has, not only a powerful numerical analysis function, but an easy-to-use graphic user interface which readily enables to simulate dynamic system. This paper presents the features of the simulator and steel rolling process simulator as its application.

스트립형 섬유 보강 탄성받침의 실험에 의한 기계적 특성해석 (Mechanical Characteristic Analysis of Fiber Reinforced Strip Form Elastomeric Bearing by Experiment)

  • 기존의 면진 기술을 일반건물에 적용하기 위해서는 낮은 가격과 낮은 무게로 면진 탄성받침 이 제작 및 공급되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 일반건물에 면진 기술을 적용하기 위한 방법으로 기존의 적층고무 면진 탄성받침에 철판을 대체하여 섬유로 보강하고, 고무와 섬유의 층으로 구성된 스트립형의 면진 탄성받침을 제안하였다. 또한 제안한 섬유보강 면진 탄성받침을 설계 및 제작하여 수직실험과 수평실험을 수행하여 그 성능을 검증하였다. 따라서, 스트립형의 면진 탄성받침이 제작가능하며, 필요한 크기로 절단이 가능함을 보였다. 또한 수평 실험 수직 실험을 통하여 기존의 적층고무 면진 탄성받침을 대체하여 사용할 수 있음을 보였다. 이 연구결과로 인해 스트립형의 섬유보강 면진 탄성받침이 저가건물에 널리 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

탄화물 강화 Ni-Grain Roll개발 (Development of the Carbide Reinforced Ni-Grain Roll)

  • In order to improve the productivity and quality of the hot rolled products, many morden mills have continuously required advanced roll materials. The introduction of HSS rolls in early stands of the Hot Strip Mill brought the excellent performance in wear resistance and surface roughness. Ni-grain rolls used in the later stands was needed to improve the roll performance. Therefore, the carbide reinforced Ni-grain roll was developed. The present paper will describe the development of carbide reinforced rolls made by INI STEEL and the results of mill tests. The wear resistance was increased upto $40\%$ and the anti-accident ablility was remarkably improved compared to the normal Ni-rain roll.

  • A new neural network classifier is proposed for the automatic real-time surface inspection of high-speed cold steel strips having 11 different types of defects. 46 geometrical and gray-level features are extracted for the defect classification. 3241 samples of Posco's Kwangyang steel factory are used for training and testing the neural network classifier. The developed classifier produces plausible 15% error rate which is much better than 20-30% error rate of human vision inspection adopted in most of domestic steel factories.

각종 도금강판의 신장성형시 마찰계수측정 (Measurement of Friction Coefficient in Stretching of Coated Steel Sheets)

  • Coated sheet steels have been increasingly used in automotive industry for improving corrosion resistance. One of the arised concerns is frictional behavior of coated sheet steel in stamping process. But analyses of the frictional behavior are complex and difficult. A tensile strip test has been developed for evaluating friction under the condition which simulate the stretching of sheet. Tests are conducted under different die radius and lubrication conditions. Electro-galvanized steel sheets show a lower coefficient of friction than bare steel sheets whose coated layers have been chemically removed. The coefficients of friction are independent of die radius.

Slender RC columns strengthened with combined CFRP and steel jacket under axial load

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the effectiveness of simultaneous application of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and steel jacket in strengthening slender reinforced concrete (RC) column. The columns were 200 mm square cross section with lengths ranging from 1600 to 3000 mm. Ten columns were tested under axial load. The effects of the strengthening technique, slenderness ratio, cross-section area of steel angle and CFRP layer number were examined in terms of axial load-axial strain curve, CFRP strain, steel strip strain and steel angle strain. The experiments indicate that strengthening RC columns with combined CFRP and steel jacket is effective in enhancing the load capacity, ductility and energy dissipation capacity of RC column. Based on the existing models for RC columns strengthened with CFRP and with steel jacket, a design formula considering a slenderness reduction factor is proposed to predict the load capacity of the RC columns strengthened with combined CFRP and steel jacket. The predictions agree well with the experimental results.
