This paper is to investigate how partial discharge pulse signal can flow in 6.6㎸ motor stator windings. Pulse propagation is experimentally analyzed in stator windings using a variety of frequency-domain techniques. The experiments were performed on two stator windings in the laboratory. Spectrum analyzer(9KHz to 3㎓) with tracking generator(100kHz to 3㎓) was used. Sweep time of the tracking generator was looms. The frequency spectrum of the response signal was detected by active FET probe(1㎓). The active FET probe has a flat amplitude response up to 1㎓ without high frequency attenuation. The stator winding acts as a low-pass filter below 600KHz, the high-frequency components being highly declined. The resonance peaks show about 1.1MHz and 2MHz in low frequency of No. 1 and No. 2 stator windings, respectively. This low-frequency range indicates that attenuation is low. The peaks of partial discharge magnitude show about 900MHz, 1.6MHz in No. 1 stator winding and about 800KHz, 1.4MHz in No. 2 stator winding.

This paper proposes the design and implementation of a direct torque controlled induction motor drive system. The method is based on control of decoupling between amplitude and angle of reference stator flux for determining reference stator voltage vector in generating PWM output voltage for induction motors. The objective is to reduce electromagnetic torque ripple and stator flux droop which result in a decrease in current distortion in steady state condition. In addition, the proposed technique provides simplicity of a control system. The direct torque control is based on the relationship between instantaneous slip angular frequency and rotor angular frequency in adjustment of the reference stator flux angle. The amplitude of the reference stator flux is always kept constant at rated value. Experimental results are illustrated in this paper confirming the capability of the proposed system in regards to such issues as torque and stator flux response, stator phase current distortion both in dynamic and steady state with load variation, and low speed operation.
In hydro-generator, a groundwall insulation of stator windings gradually deteriorates due to mechanical, thermal, electrical and environmental stresses. These stresses combine to result in loose windings, delamination of the stator insulation and/or electrical tracking of the endwinding, all of which can lead to stator insulation failures. Conventionally, off-line tests such as partial discharge measurement, DC/AC current and .DELTA.tan.delta. tests has been used for estimation of winding condition. However, off-line test requires large power supply and generator outage. In addition, major cause of insulation problems such as loose wedges and slot dischages may not be found with off-line diagnoses. This paper introduces the on-line partial discharge measurement techniques using frequency spectrum analyzer(FSA) for the generator stator windings. The experimental results from the UIAM #1 hydro-generator confirms a optimistic application of on-line generator diagnosis method as a reliable tool for evaluation of winding condition.
This paper presents the acoustic noise and mechanical vibration reduction of a coreless brushless DC motor with an air dynamic bearing used in a digital lightening processor. The coreless brushless DC motor does not have a stator yoke or stator slot to remove the unbalanced force caused by the interaction between the stator yoke and the rotor magnet. An unbalanced force makes slotless brushless DC motors vibrate and mechanically noisy, and the attractive force between the magnet and the stator yoke increases power consumption. Also, when a coreless brushless DC motor is driven by a $120^{\circ}$ conduction type inverter, high frequency acoustic noise occurs because of the peak components of the phase currents caused by small phase inductance and large phase resistance. In this paper, a core-less brushless DC motor with an air dynamic bearing to remove mechanical vibration and to reduce power consumption is applied to a digital lightening processor. A $180^{\circ}$ conduction type inverter drives it to reduce high frequency acoustic noise. The applied methods are simulated and tested using a manufactured prototype motor with an air dynamic bearing. The experimental results show that a coreless brushless DC motor has characteristics of low power consumption, low mechanical vibration, and low high frequency acoustic noise.
The interaction of electromagnetic forces and mechanical structure of switched reluctance motors(SRM) is the major cause of the noise and vibration. The stator part in SRM produces the most vibrations. Therefore, it is necessary to know the natural frequencies of the stator. In this paper, the variation of natural frequencies according to the design parameters is investigated to avoid the resonance. The natural frequency of the tested motor is founded by the frequency response function obtained by a experimental modal analysis.

This paper investigates the influence of various stator pole shapes and yoke structures in Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) on the mechanical behavior caused by the electromagnetic farce. The stator part in SRM produces most vibration. The geometric design of the stator is therefore necessary to reduce the vibration. Based on electromagnetic and structural Finite Element Method (FEM), the free and farced vibrations for the various structures of SRM with 6/4 poles are analyzed. Then a less vibration stator structure is proposed. Some of numerical computations for a prototype motor are verified by experimental results.
This paper describes the two control techniques to perform the sensorless vector control of a PMSM by injecting the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal. The first technique is the estimation algorithm of the initial rotor position. A PMSM possesses the saliency which produces the ellipse of the stator current when the high frequency voltage is injected into the motor terminal. The major axis angle of the current ellipse gives the rotor position information at a standstill. The second control technique is a sensorless control algorithm that injects the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal in order to estimate the rotor position and speed. The rotor position and speed for sensorless vector control is calculated by appropriate signal processing to extract the position information from the stator current at low speeds or standstill. The proposed sensorless algorithm using the double-band hysteresis controller exhibits excellent reference tracking and increased robustness. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control schemes. Speed, position estimation and vector control were carried out on the floating point processor TMS320VC33.

The high rate of voltage rise (dv/dt) in motor terminals caused by high-frequency switching and impedance mismatches between inverter and motor are known as the primary causes of irregular voltage distributions and insulation breakdowns on stator windings in IGBT PWM inverter-driven induction motors. In this paper, voltage distributions in the stator windings of an induction motor driven by an IGBT PWM inverter are studied. To analyze the irregular voltages of stator windings, high frequency parameters are derived from the finite element (FE) analysis of stator slots. An equivalent circuit composed of distributed capacitances, inductance, and resistance is derived from these parameters. This equivalent circuit is then used for simulation in order to predict the voltage distributions among the turns and coils. The effects of various rising times in motor terminal voltages and cable lengths on the stator voltage distribution are also presented. For a comparison with simulations, an induction motor with taps in the stator turns was made and driven by a variable-rising time switching surge generator. The test results are shown.
This paper deals with a flat type ultrasonic motor, which uses a longitudinal-bending multi mode vibrator of rectangular form. A linear ultrasonic motor was designed by combination of the first longitudinal and eighth bending mode, and the motor consisted of a straight aluminum alloy bar bonded with piezoelectric ceramic elements as a driving element. The geometrical dimensions of the rectangular aluminum vibrator were determined by Euler-Bernoulli theory ANSYS was used to analyze the resonance frequency and the displacement of the stator vibrator. The resonance frequency of the motor provides the elliptical motion. and ANSYS was used to analyze elliptical motion and elliptical trajectory of stator vibrator when thickness of piezoelectric ceramics was varied respectively 0.763, 1.526, 2.289[mm] and width of stator vibrator was varied respectively 16, 12, 8, 4[mm]. When thickness of piezoelectric ceramics was decreased, the displacement of the stator vibrator was increased. And when width of stator vibrator was decreased, the displacement of the stator vibrator was increased.
In this study, the wind-mill type ultrasonic motor was fabricated, and then resonant frequency and vibration velocity characteristics of the stator were measured. Brass metal was pressed with umbrella-type using metal mold, then slot of 4 kind was processed in each of thickness. Among sixteen's stators, resonant frequency on vibration velocity was decreased remarkably in stator of higher resonant point, but resonant frequency on vibration velocity wasn't almost changed at lower resonant point of stator. The thickener thickness of elastic body, vibration velocity was decreased. The more slot of elastic body, vibration velocity was increased Applied voltage was changed from 10$V_{max}$ to 100$V_{max}$. Maximum vibration velocity value was 2.0[m/s].
