  • This paper deals with optimum design criteria to minimize the torque ripple of a concentrated winding Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The feasibility of using RSM with the finite element method (FEM) in practical engineering problem is investigated with computational examples and comparison between the fitted response and the results obtained from an analytical solution according to the design variables of stator and rotor in concentrated winding SynRM (6slot).

  • The effect of each tooth for optimal design of Hybrid permanent magnet step motor is presented on this paper. For this consideration, Hybrid permanent magnet step motor was designed in the first consideration tooth structure on the stator and the rotor and poles structure, as number of teeth on the stator and the rotor and slot depth and pitch of teeth, simulated by AutoLISP. During actual rotating, a chracteristic of Hybrid permanent magnet step motor which designed by AutoLISP program is considered. A chracteristic of Hybrid permanent magnet step motor is considered in change each variable, also. As a result, it was found that characteristic of Hybrid permanent magnet step motor changed in accordance with tooth structure and number of teeth and optimal design is possible by AutoLISP.

  • This paper deals with design of a small-scaled permanent magnet generator (PMG) for wind power applications. First, this paper determines rated power and rated speed of the PMG from measured characteristics of wind turbines. Second, we derive analytical solutions for the open-circuit field in order to determine optimum magnet thickness and pole pitch/arc ratio. Third, on the basis of open circuit field solutions, stator magnetic circuit is designed. And then, a diameter of stator coil which agree with a required current density is calculated, and its turns are determined from the area of slot. Finally, finite element (FE) method is employed for validity of the designed PMG and, the back-emf measurements are also given to confirm the design.

  • Brushless do motors have been replacing brush type motors in machine tool and robotics applications over the last number of years This Paper deals with the design and application of the slot-less permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The slot-less PMSM eliminates rotational cogging torque due to permanent magnet preferred positions decreases core loss and thus increases efficiency, provides excellent torque-to-volume and power-to-volume ratios, and has a linear current versus torque relation. The PMSM with slot-less stator is designed and manufactured, which will be used for high speed and high efficiency application such a medical instruments.

  • In the stator windings of a 6.6 kV rotating machine, internal discharges, slot discharges, and surface discharges are mainly caused by internal voids and insulation degradation. If a partial discharge(PD) occurs in an inner-part of the stator windings, it will cause electromagnetic pulses with wide frequency ranges. Discharge sparks and electromagnetic pulses generated from a discharge source, can be detected using various RF resonators like an EM sensor. In order to detect these types of electromagnetic sources, a planar patch sensor was designed and fabricated using a CST-MWS simulation, and PD signals from an artificially defected stator winding were also measured by the sensor proposed in this study. Furthermore, an HFCT was used as a reference sensor and compared with the proposed new planar patch sensor. In the results of the experiment, the planar patch sensor showed a similar performance to the HFCT sensor.

  • This paper describes an approach to design a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) for the reduction of cogging torque. The magnitude of the torque ripple and cogging torque in a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) are generally dependent on several major factors: the shape of stator tooth tip, slot opening width, air gap length, the shape of barrier preventing flux leakage of magnets, magnet configuration and magnetization distribution or magnet poles. In this paper, the IPM BLDC motor is designed considering a saturated leakag flux between the barriers on the rotor for increasing the efficiency and decreasing the magnitude of the cogging torque. Analytical model is developed for the IPM BLDC motor with a concentrated winding stator. The results verifies that the proposed design approach is very efficient and effective in reducing the cogging torque and the torque ripple of the IPM BLDC motor to be used in an electric vehicle.

  • 고전압 기기의 절연물 내부에서 부분방전 현상이 발생되면 절연파괴로 진전된다. 회전기기가 운전중인 상태에서 on-line 부분방전시험은 고정자 권선의 절연상태를 검사, 평가 할 수 있는 중요한 수단으로서 이러한 부분방전시험을 통하여 회전기기 시스템의 사고예방을 위한 진단을 할 수 있다. 부분방전 펄스는 10MHz $\sim$ 1GHz의 대역폭을 갖는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 이러한 고주파 대역의 전자파 에너지의 효과적인 검출을 위한 센서 중 하나로 웨이브가이드 구조의 고주파 검출센서가 존재한다. 기존의 전자기적 에너지를 검출하는 SSC (Stator Slot Coupler)센서를 한쪽 포트를 가지는 마이크로스트립센서 형태로 사용할 경우 접지면이 도체전체로 씌워져 있고 임피던스 정합을 위한 50옴의 칩저항이 신호라인과 접지사이 루프를 형성하여 기기 운전시 기기의 성능에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이 단점을 보완하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 회전기내 부분방전 펄스의 전자기적 에너지를 검출할 수 있는 2선 평행 전송선로 라인을 응용한 부분방전 검출 센서를 제안하였고 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 입증하였다. 제안된 센서의 성능을 입증하기 위하여 2선 평행 전송선로 타입의 센서와 기존의 SSC (Stator Slot Coupler) 센서를 약간 변형시킨 마이크로 스트립 센서를 고정자 슬롯의 Wedge 부착한 후 두 센서 비교 분석하였다. 결과적으로 제안된 센서는 기존 SSC 타입의 마이크로스트립 센서에 비하여 더 간단한 형상을 가지며 운전 중 기기의 성능에 영향을 덜 미치는 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

전동 지게차용 3상 유도 모터의 소음 진동 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Noise and Vibration in 3-phase Induction Motor for the Forklift)

  • This paper presents the reduction of acoustic noise generated by electromagnetic force in an induction motor of the electrical forklift. After summarizing the electromagnetic excitation forces due to the interaction between the stator/rotor slot permeance and the stator winding magnetomotive force, the effects of the electromagnetic force on the noise and vibration of an induction motor are analyzed. In order to experimentally identify the noise sources of the motor, the signal analyses for noise and vibration are performed by using waterfall plots of noise and vibration spectrums. It is found that severe noise and vibration are caused by the electromagnetic force when the mode number of the excitation shape for a stator is low. Furthermore, it is verified that the motor noise is amplified if the excitation frequency of the electromagnetic force coincides with one of the natural frequencies of the stator. It is experimentally demonstrated that this severe noise can be considerably reduced by structure modifications. Finally, some design guidelines are suggested to develop an induction motor with a low level of noise.

  • This paper presents the cogging torque analysis of the permanent magnet type AC servo motor which have the closed slot structure. Generally, existence of the slot opening causes the cogging torque. But the cogging torque exists in this type motor(having closed slot structure) because the bridge part is saturated by the rotor flux. In this paper, the finite element analysis is used to calculate the cogging torque and the rated torque. As the size of the bridge part-the thickness and the width-changes, the cogging torque and the rated torque are obtained repeatedly like as upper procedures. Finally, the trends of the cogging torque and the rated torque versus the size of the bridge part are obtained from this analysis procedures. By this approach, the optimal geometry of the bridge part can be found which minimize the cogging torque satisfying the required value of the rated torque.
