  • Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the skeletal stability of two-jaw surgery via surgery-first approach with conventional two-jaw surgery in facial asymmetry patients by measuring the skeletal changes after surgery from a three-dimensional analysis. From January 2010 to January 2014, 40 patients with facial asymmetry who underwent two-jaw surgery in Pusan National University Hospital were included in this study. They were classified into experimental group (n = 20) who underwent two-jaw surgery via surgery-first approach and control group (n = 20) who underwent conventional two-jaw surgery. After selection of 24 landmarks and the construction of horizontal and sagittal, coronal reference planes, changes in 10 linear measurements and 2 angular measurements were compared between the surgery-first approach and conventional groups in the preoperative, immediate postoperative, and postoperative periods. The paired t test and Student t test were used for statistical analysis. The mean and standard deviation of the measurement were calculated for the experimental and control groups. Results: The statistical analysis showed that changes in skeletal measurements were similar between the surgery-first approach and conventional groups, according to each period. However, U1-SRP measurement showed statistically significant changes in surgery-first approach groups at postsurgical change (T1 to T2). Also, the mean treatment duration in the treatment group was 15.9 ± 5.48 months whereas that in the control group was 32.9 ± 14.05 months. Conclusion: In facial asymmetry patients, similar results were observed in the postoperative skeletal stability when 2-jaw surgery via surgery-first approach was compared with conventional 2-jaw surgery. However, significant lateral deviation of upper incisor midline was observed. In addition, a shorter average treatment duration was observed. To stabilize the unstable occlusion after surgery, increased wearing of the stent and proactive rubber guidance will be needed.

  • This study developed a dry composite module-type deodorization facility with Twisting airflow changes and two forms (catalyst, adsorbent) within one module. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the reduction efficiency of odor substances C8H7N and C9H9N. The device combines UV oxidation using TiO2, catalytic oxidation using MnO2, and adsorption using A/C in five different methods. Data analysis of experimental results utilized the statistical package program Python 3.12. The program applied frequency analysis of odor removal efficiency, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc tests, with statistical significance determined by p-value to ensure reliability and validity of the measurements. Results indicated that the highest removal efficiency of C8H7N and C9H9N was achieved by the UV+A/C method, suggesting the superior effectiveness and efficiency of the developed device. Combining multiple processes and technologies within one module enhanced odor treatment efficiency compared to using a single method. The device's modularity allows for flexibility in adapting to various sewage treatment scenarios, offering easy maintenance and cost-effective deodorization. This composite reaction module device can apply multiple technologies, such as biofilters, plasma, activated carbon filters, UV-photocatalysis, and electromagnetic-chemical systems. However, this study focused on UV-photocatalysis, catalysts, and activated carbon filters. Ultimately, the research demonstrates the practical applicability of this innovative device in real sewage treatment operations, showing excellent reduction efficiency and effectiveness by integrating UV oxidation, TiO2 photocatalysis, MnO2 catalytic oxidation, and A/C adsorption within a modular system.

  • Objectives : The aim of this article is to compare the effect of the korean medicine alone with korean-western combination treatment to herpes zoster. Methods : Domestic databases(OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KISS, KTKP, KMBASE, DBPIA, KoreaMed, National Assembly Library) were used to search case study papers related to herpes zoster and korean medicine treatment. We searched them using the term 'Herpes zoster' or 'Ramsey Hunt' combinated with 'Acupuntcure', 'Herbal medicine' or 'Korean medicine'. Results : A total of 36 studies were selected and analyzed. 25 studies treated with korean medicine and 11 studies treated with korean-western combination treatment which include any western medication. Of these 36 papers, there were a total of 24 cases in which a VAS test was undertaken. According to 36 published papers, no statistically significant difference in the periods of treatment with korean medicine alone from those of korean-western combination treatment was found. Also, no statistical difference in the VAS changes per period with korean medicine alone from those with korean-western combination treatment was found. Conclusions : According to the results, These findings suggest that korean medicine treatment can be effective for the herpes zoster the same as korean-western combination treatment.

  • Huang proposed a grey-based nearest neighbor approach to predict accurately missing attribute value in 2004. Our study proposes which way to decide the number of nearest neighbors using not only the deng's grey relational grade but also the wen's grey relational grade. Besides, our study uses not an arithmetic(unweighted) mean but a weighted one. Also, GRG is used by a weighted value when we impute missing values. There are four different methods - DU, DW, WU, WW. The performance of WW(Wen's GRG & weighted mean) method is the best of any other methods. It had been proven by Huang that his method was much better than mean imputation method and multiple imputation method. The performance of our study is far superior to that of Huang.

  • For the fractional factorial designs, the resolution-IV designs can be used when we want to estimate the main effects and to investigate the structure of the non-negligible two-factor interaction effects, when the three-factor and higher order interaction effects are all negligible. However we need to add the additional treatment combinations in order to identify the influential interactions for the resolution-IV fractional factorial designs. In this paper we investigate the statistical structure for 3-level resolution-IV designs constructed by fold-over scheme and introduce a method for analyzing the influential two-factor interactions.

  • Parts and structures such as piston rod and knuckle joint for the use of hydraulic cylinder are often welded together in some fashion, usually due to cost and process effectiveness. Welding strongly affects the material by the process of heating and subsequent cooling as well as by the fusion process with additional filler material. Furthermore, a weld is usually far from being perfect, containing inclusions, pores, cavities, undercuts etc. As a consequence, fatigue failures appear in welded structures mostly at the welds rather than in the base metal, even if the latter contains notches. For this reason, fatigue analyses are of high practical interest for all welded structures under the action of cyclic loads. This paper describes the influence of welding parameters, material combinations and heat treatment on the fatigue behavior of welded cylinder rod. In addition, statistical characterization of stress-life response in weldment of hydraulic cylinder rod are presented.

  • The Exponentiated Gamma (EG) distribution is one of the important families of distributions in lifetime tests. In this paper, a new generalized version of this distribution which is called kumaraswamy Exponentiated Gamma (KEG) distribution is introduced. A new distribution is more flexible and has some interesting properties. A comprehensive mathematical treatment of the KEG distribution is provided. We derive the $r^{th}$ moment and moment generating function of this distribution. Moreover, we discuss the maximum likelihood estimation of the distribution parameters. Finally, an application to real data sets is illustrated.
