A study on the characteristics of patients with facial palsy treated with Korean medicine - Based on the Korean National Health Insurance statistical yearbook (한의치료를 받은 안면마비 환자의 진료비 특성 분석 - 건강보험통계연보를 중심으로)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to find out the characteristics of patients with facial palsy based on the National Health Insurance(NHI) statistical yearbook and provide the information pertaining to supplement Coverage of NHI. Methods: Based on the data of NHI between 2004 to 2021 for facial palsy(G51) obtained from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the analyses were carried out according to the distribution of gender and the number of patients, visits, reimbursed days, and medical expenses by using the SAS 9.4. Results: The crude rate of facial palsy was reported as 361.71(2021) comparable with 419.60(2004) and 534.11(2009). The rate of men increased from 293.96(2004) to 302.27(2021) but the rate of women decreased from 450.88(2014) to 420.80(2021). The number of patients maintained around 190,000, however, it declined for patients treated Korean medicine(KM) after 2010. As the medical expenses were elevated, especially Western medicine(WM), that of WM exceeded KM's since 2018. The expenses of women were higher than men's in KM. By contrast, there was no difference with gender in WM. For reimbursed days per visits, it has been increased in WM but there was no difference in KM. Conclusion: Although the rate of patients with facial palsy in KM was high with no difference in the whole number of patients and reimbursed days per visits in KM annually, the number of patients in KM decreased but medical expenses elevated. According to this, it is necessary for reinforcing Coverage of NHI to research other factors related to KM.

  • Many people have recently posted about personal interests on social media. The development of the Internet and computer technology has enabled the storage of digital forms of documents that has resulted in an explosion of the amount of textual data generated; subsequently there is an increased demand for technology to create valuable information from a large number of documents. A text mining technique is often used since text-based data is mostly composed of unstructured forms that are not suitable for the application of statistical analysis or data mining techniques. This study analyzed the Meteorological Yearbook data of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) with a text mining technique. First, a term dictionary was constructed through preprocessing and a term-document matrix was generated. This term dictionary was then used to calculate the annual frequency of term, and observe the change in relative frequency for frequently appearing words. We also used regression analysis to identify terms with increasing and decreasing trends. We analyzed the trends in the Meteorological Yearbook of the KMA and analyzed trends of weather related news, weather status, and status of work trends that the KMA focused on. This study is to provide useful information that can help analyze and improve the meteorological services and reflect meteorological policy.

  • By examining Table 1, it is confirmed that the two model fertility scheduels for 1960 and 1975 are close agreement with the census data in Korea. The declines of age-specific fertility are more remarkable among older women than among younger, as exhibited in Table 3 and Fig. 2. A merit of this fitted model schedule as compared to fitted conventional frequency distributions such as the Pearson Type III curve, is that the model schedule incorporates combinations of intuitively understandable demographic factors. The value of m, a measure of fertility control, increased remarkably from 0.531 in 1960 to 2.429 in 1975. Considering the fact that the average value of m for forty-three schedules shown in the 1965 Demographic Yearbook was 1.0, and the value of m in England and Wales for 1965 was 1.91, the recent level of fertility control in Korea may be considered higher than generally believed.

It suggest two ways to the establishment of disaster trends. First way is the disaster quantitative analysis and second way is comparing the statistical data and the analysis of expert opinion.

A Study on Spatial Distribution of Villages in Border Region according to Change in Civilian Control Line (민간인통제선 변화에 따른 접경지역 마을의 공간적 분포에 관한 연구)

  • This study attempted to conduct the study from a macro perspective more specifically through the temporal and spatial analysis of Minbuk villages according to a change in a Civilian Control Line, such as a social and spatial distribution and a change of the existing Minbuk villages. To this end, this study conducted the spatial analysis for the change in the Minbuk villages according to the adjustment of the Civilian Control Line in time series by using a map of the Armistice Agreement Vol. 2, Google Earth, a digital cadastral map, an administrative district map, and the like are used as spatial data, and summarizing and constructing, as attribute data, a statistical yearbook, Ministry of Defense and Cheorwon-Gun notification data, a Land Use Regulation Information System, and cadastral map attribute information. After the enactment of the Military Facility Protection Act, the analysis was performed on a 20-year basis based on the 1976 statistical yearbook of which the Civilian Control Line was drawn. As a result, the total area of the Civilian Control Zone in Cheorwon from 1975 to 2015 decreased by 105.8 km2, and 9 of 14 Minbuk villages were released and only 6 villages existed. The unoccupied villages were analyzed as 14 villages, 10 fewer than the existing surveyed or statistical villages. The movement of the Civilian Control Line to the north may disappear the unique characteristics of the Minbuk villages but should be done carefully as it is closely related to the lives of the current residents, and policies should be established in terms of sustainable development and conservation of the villages. This study is significant in conducting the temporal and spatial analysis, which is the basis of the Minbuk regions and the Minbuk villages, and may be used as basic data necessary for subsequent analysis study.

Prevention Meteorological Database Information for the Assessment of Natural Disaster (자연재해 평가를 위한 방재기상 DB 정보)

  • In order to reduce the amount of damage from natural disasters and perform the natural disaster mitigation program, the prevention activities and forecasting based on meteorological parameters and disaster datas are required. In addition, it is necessary to process prevention meteorological information for prevention activities in advance. For this, we have analyzed four data, such as Statistical yearbook of calamities and Statistics Yearbook issued by the Ministry of Government Administration and Human affairs. And Annual Climatological Report issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration and Recently 10 years for natural disaster damage from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters. We analyzed the causes, elements, occurrence frequencies, and vulnerable areas of natural disaster, using the 4 disaster datas, but these datas was not consistent with their terminology and items. Through the analysis of a kind and damage of disaster, we have selected the disaster variables, such as causes and elements, the amount of damage, vulnerable areas of natural disaster, etc and made a database. This database will be used to assess the natural disasters and develop the risk model and natural disasters mitigation plan.

Usage of Medicinal Moxibustion for the improvement of Moxibustion Treatment Procedure (灸((구)쑥뜸)시술행위의 개선을 위한 藥灸劑(약구제)의 활용)

  • Objectives: To provide theoretical basis for the classification of medicinal moxibustion(藥灸劑) in Health Insurance Medical Benefit in Korea through investigating trend of judicial precedents on indirect moxibustion and usage of medicinal moxibustion in "Donguibogam". Methods: We analyzed statistical data of moxibustion from Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service and National Health Insurance Statistical Yearbook. We investigated major judicial precedents on indirect moxibustion to find out some trend and we searched the usages of medicinal moxibustion in "ZhenJiuDaCheng" and "Donguibogam". Results: According to recent judicial precedents, indirect moxibustion with equipment is no loner regarded as Korean Medical Procedure. In composition of 'Oriental Health Treatment', amount for acupuncture has gradually decreased instead, amount for moxibustion has increased steadily for 5 years. Medicinal moxibustion(藥灸劑) is often used as a form of indirect medicinal moxibustion with moxa in "Donguibogam". Argyi Folium, Moschus, Natrii Chloridium, Radix Preparata, Realgar and Olibanum are most frequently used for medicinal moxibustion in "Donguibogam". Medicinal moxibustions are composed of simple prescription or herb-pair or multiple prescription in "Donguibogam". Conclusions: In Health Insurance Medical Benefit in Korea, under the division of moxibustion, direct medicinal moxibustion and indirect medicinal moxibustion should be classified in addition.

The Meteorological Disaster Analysis for the Natural Disaster Mitigation in the Korean Peninsula (자연재해 저감을 위한 한반도 피해 현황 분석)

  • This study aims to find the characteristics of damage and states of natural disasters at the Korean Peninsula from 1985 to 2004. Using the data of Statistical yearbook of calamities issued by the National Emergency Management Agency and Annual Climatological Report issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration. we have analyzed the cause, elements, and vulnerable regions for natural disasters. Major causes of natural disaster at Korean Peninsula are four, such as a heavy rain, heavy rain typhoon, typhoon, storm snow, and storm. The frequency of natural disaster is the highest from June to September. The period from December to March also shows high frequency. The total amount of damage is high during the summer season(Jul.-Sept). The period from January to March shows relatively high amount of damage due to storm and storm snow The areas of Gangwon-do, Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do are classified the vulnerable region for the natural disasters. By establishing mitigation plans which fit the type and characteristics of disaster for each region, damage from disaster can be reduced with efficient prevention activities.

Major causes of natural disaster at Gimhae are four, such as a heavy rain, heavy rain typhoon, typhoon, storm snow, and storm. The cause of disaster recorded the most amount of damage is typhoon. The areas of Hallim-myeon, Sangdong-myeon, and Saengnim-myeon are classified the vulnerable region for the natural disasters in Gimhae. Therefore, it seems necessary to build natural disaster mitigation plan each cause of disaster to control water resources and to reduce damage for these areas.
