  • Software controlled traffic management becomes more difficult with increasing switch size, because a huge number of connections are multiplexed in a high speed switching system and each ATM connections does not have a fixed bandwidth It is based on high-speed WDM(wavelength division multiplexed) links that can multiplex a huge number of connections on a statistical basis, and a self-load balancing technique. the Proposed switching system is scalable, and achieves the non-blocking capability without the use of complicated software control, using instead a hardware self-load balancing mechanism

  • Conventional expert systems has been criticized due to its lack of capability to adapt to the changing decision-making environments. In literature, many methods have been proposed to make expert systems more environment-adaptive by incorporating fuzzy logic and neural networks. The objective of this paper is to propose a new approach to building a self-evolving expert system inference mechanism by integrating fuzzy neural network and fuzzy rule extraction technique. The main recipe of our proposed approach is to fuzzify the training data, train them by a fuzzy neural network, extract a set of fuzzy rules from the trained network, organize a knowledge base, and refine the fuzzy rules by applying a pruning algorithm when the decision-making environments are detected to be changed significantly. To prove the validity, we tested our proposed self-evolving expert systems inference mechanism by using the bankruptcy data, and compared its results with the conventional neural network. Non-parametric statistical analysis of the experimental results showed that our proposed approach is valid significantly.

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic parallel channel allocation mechanism that dynamically controls total number of allocation channels of each subscriber to effectively service user bandwidth demands while high utilization and fairness are guaranteed in WDM based optical access networks. The logical performance gain of statistical multiplexing by dynamic channel allocation is validated with analytic method as well as simulations. We also introduce the adaptive padding scheme in order to efficiently distribute forwarded frames to aggregated multi-link channels which are formed by parallel channel allocation mechanism. The proposed scheme shows the performance enhancement by minimizing unnecessary padding size and the processing time.

  • This experimental study investigates the wake flow behind a pair of cylinders displaced normal to a free stream. In this experiment, the principal aim is to investigate the transition mechanism of the large vortex generating process in the wake having unique vortex shedding pattern. associated with the gap difference between the cylinders. The detailed visualization is carried out using the PIV measurement. The transition mechanism of the large generating vortex is clarified by showing the streak lines. the vorticity and the statistical fluctuating velocity distributions.

  • Injection of microbubbles within the turbulent boundary layer has been investigated for several years as a method to achieve drag reduction. However, the physical mechanism of this phenomenon is not yet fully understood. Experiments in a channel flow for single phase (water) and two phase (water and microbubbles) flows with various void fraction values are studied for a Reynolds number of 5128 based on the half height of the channel and bulk velocity. The state-of-the art Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) measurement technique is used to measure the instantaneous full-field velocity components. Comparisons between turbulent statistical quantities with various values of local void fraction are presented to elucidate the influence of the microbubbles presence within the boundary layer. A decrease in the Reynolds stress distribution and turbulence production is obtained with the increase of microbubble concentration. The results obtained indicate a decorrelation of the streamwise and normal fluctuating velocities when microbubbles are injected within the boundary layer.

  • Various studies have been performed to coordinate robots in transporting objects and different artificial intelligence algorithms have been considered in this field. In this paper, we investigate and solve Multi-Robot Transportation problem by using a combined auction algorithm. In this algorithm each robot, as an agent, can perform the auction and allocate tasks. This agent tries to clear the auction by studying different states to increase payoff function. The algorithm presented in this paper has been applied to a multi-robot system where robots are responsible for transporting objects. Using this algorithm, robots are able to improve their actions and decisions. To show the excellence of the proposed algorithm, its performance is compared with three heuristic algorithms by statistical simulation approach.

  • A method for detecting foreign substances in mould based on scatter grams was presented to protect moulds automatically during moulding production. This paper proposes a wavelet transform foreign detection method based on Monte Carlo analysis mechanism to identify foreign objects in the tube. We use the Monte Carlo method to evaluate the image, and obtain the width of the confidence interval by the deviation statistical gray histogram to divide the image type. In order to stabilize the performance of the algorithm, the high-frequency image and the low-frequency image are respectively drawn. By analyzing the position distribution of the pixel gray in the two images, the suspected foreign object region is obtained. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach by evaluating the labeled data.

  • The need for statistical analysis to discern the existence and the type of international business comovement has increased as business and economic variations in one country is directly transmitted to business and financial market conditions in another without a long lag. This study performs the statistical tests for th locomotive hypothesis to understand the structural character of the long-run mechanism among Korea-US current and future business movements and the domestic stock market. The U.S. future business prospect, rather than the US current and the domestic current and future business conditions, appears to signi cantl a ect the domestic stock market movement.

  • Due to the increasing interest in SNPs and mutational hot spots for disease traits, it is becoming more important to define and understand the relationship between SNPs and their flanking sequences. To study the effects of flanking sequences on SNPs, statistical approaches are necessary to assess bias in SNP data. In this study we mainly applied Markov chains for SNP sequences, particularly those located in intronic regions, and for analysis of in-del data. All of the pertaining sequences showed a significant tendency to generate particular SNP types. Most sequences flanking SNPs had lower complexities than average sequences, and some of them were associated with microsatellites. Moreover, many Alu repeats were found in the flanking sequences. We observed an elevated frequency of single-base-pair repeat-like sequences, mirror repeats, and palindromes in the SNP flanking sequence data. Alu repeats are hypothesized to be associated with C-to-T transition mutations or A-to-I RNA editing. In particular, the in-del data revealed an association between particular changes such as palindromes or mirror repeats. Results indicate that the mechanism of induction of in-del transitions is probably very different from that which is responsible for other SNPs. From a statistical perspective, frequent DNA lesions in some regions probably have effects on the occurrence of SNPs.

  • In this study, an aging deformation statistical model for a unique high and steep rock slope was proposed, and the aging characteristic of the slope deformation was better reflected. The slope displacement was affected by multiple-environmental factors in multiple scales and displayed the same tendency with a rising water level. The statistical model of the high and steep rock including non-aging factors was set up based on previous analyses and the study of the deformation and residual tendency. The rule and importance of the water level factor as a non-aging unit was analyzed. A partitioned statistical model and mutation model were established for the comprehensive cumulative displacement velocity with the monitoring study under multiple factors and multiple parameters. A spatial model was also developed to reflect and predict the whole and sectional deformation character by combining aging, deformation and space coordinates. A neural network model was built to fit and predict the deformation with a high degree of precision by mastering its feature of complexity and randomness. A three-dimensional finite element model of the slope was applied to approach the structure character using numerical simulations. Further, a three-dimensional finite element model of the slope and dam was developed, and the whole deformation state was analyzed. This study is expected to provide a powerful and systematic method to analyze very high, important and dangerous slopes.
