  • In this paper, performance analysis of machine vision techniques is presented to improve the convenience and speed of automatic inspection in the industrial field when machine vision is applied to the image not taken in the stationary state, but in the moving state on a conveyer. When the length of cylindrical rods used for automobiles was measured using the edge detection method, the conveying speed increased, and the uncertainty of the boundary between the background and the part image increased, which resulted in a shorter image of the object taken. This paper proposes a linear compensation method to predict the biased errors of the length measurements after examining the pattern of biased and random errors, respectively, with 6 different types of specimens and 7 velocity stages. The length measurement corrected by the linear compensation method had the same accuracy as the stationary state within the speed range of 30 cm/s and could enhance the application capability in automatic inspections.

  • A multi-server queueing system with an infinite buffer and impatient customers is analyzed. The system operates in the finite state Markovian random environment. The number of available servers, the parameters of the batch Markovian arrival process, the rate of customers' service, and the impatience intensity depend on the current state of the random environment and immediately change their values at the moments of jumps of the random environment. Dynamics of the system is described by the multi-dimensional asymptotically quasi-Toeplitz Markov chain. The ergodicity condition is derived. The main performance measures of the system are calculated. Numerical results are presented.

  • State-dependent call admission control (SDCAC) is proposed to make efficient use of scarce wireless resource in a hierarchical wireless network with heterogeneous traffic. With SDCAC, new calls are accepted according to an acceptance probability taking account of not only cell dwell time but also call holding time and system state (i.e., occupied bandwidth). An analytical method is developed to calculate performance measures of interest, e.g., new call blocking probability, forced termination probability, over. all weighted blocking probability. Numerical results with not only stationary but nonstationary traffic loads are presented to show the robustness of SDCAC. It is shown that SDCAC performs much better than the other considered schemes under nonstationary traffic load.

  • A local isolate of Aspergillus niger was cultivated under optimal growth conditions on wheat bran in solid state fermentation. Filter paperase from fermented bran was separately extracted with different solvents to test the recovery of the enzyme. Among solvents tested, distilled water served as the best leachate, thus the conditions were further optimized with distilled water. After two washes of fermented bran with distilled water for 1.5 h each under stationary conditions at 1 g wheat bran: 5 mL distilled water, the maximum recovery of 13.5 $Ug^{-1}$ of wheat bran was obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose a new edge based finite state vector quantization method having better performance than conventional side-match finite state vector quantization. In our proposed scheme, each dCT transformed block is classified to 17 classes according to edge types. Each class has a different codebook based on its characteristis. Encoder classified each block to motion block or stationary block and constructed a merging map by using edge and motion information, and sent to decoder. We controled amoutn of bing bits transmitted with selecting modes accoridng to bandwidth of transmitting channel. Compared with conventional algorithms, H.263 and H.261 at low bit rate, our proposed algorithm shows better picture quality and good performance.

  • The oil-impregnated sintered bearings are used for various aplecations and, wide usages without refueling. The oil circulating mechanism operates smoothly the behavior of oil If doing at the time of passing and becoming a stationary state, and there is little thing where trouble is caused. On the other hand, the trouble of such as starting noise might be caused in the unstationary state that repeats operation for a short time. To study the behavior of oil of each parameter, we execute the numerical simulation and various verification experiments. As a result, we developed that the bearings were able to be used enough for various brief operating time in the unstationary state. Finally we have expanded the usage of the oil-impregnated sintered bearings by adding the consideration of the behavior of oil.

  • The classical HMM is defined by a parameter triple = (, A, B), where each parameter represents a collection of probability distributions: initial state, state transition and output distributions in order. This paper proposes a new stationary parameter e = (e1, e2, …, eN) where N is the number of states and et = P(|xt = i, y) for describing how an input pattern y ends in state xt = i at time t followed by nothing. It is often said that all is well that ends well. We argue here that all should end well. The paper sets the framework for the theory and presents an efficient inference and training algorithms based on dynamic programming and expectation-maximization. The proposed model is applicable to analyzing any sequential data with two or more finite segmental patterns are concatenated, each forming a context to its neighbors. Experiments on online Hangul handwriting characters have proven the effect of the proposed augmentation in terms of highly intuitive segmentation as well as recognition performance and 13.2% error rate reduction.

  • CodY is a highly conserved protein in low G+C gram-positive bacteria that regulates genes involved in sporulation and stationary-phase adaptation. Bacillus thuringiensis is a grampositive bacterium that forms spores and parasporal crystals during the stationary phase. To our knowledge, the regulatory mechanism of CodY in B. thuringiensis is unknown. To study the function of CodY protein in B. thuringiensis, BMB171codY- was constructed in a BMB171 strain. A shuttle vector containing the ORF of cry1Ac10 was transformed into BMB171 and BMB171codY-, named BMB171cry1Ac and BMB171codY-cry1Ac, respectively. Some morphological and physiological changes of codY mutant BMB171codY-cry1Ac were observed. A comparative proteomic analysis was conducted for both BMB171codY-cry1Ac and BMB171cry1Ac through two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF-MS/MS analysis. The results showed that the proteins regulated by CodY are involved in microbial metabolism, including branched-chain amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, fatty acid metabolism, and energy metabolism. Furthermore, we found CodY to be involved in sporulation, biosynthesis of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate, growth, genetic competence, and translation. According to the analysis of differentially expressed proteins, and physiological characterization of the codY mutant, we performed bacterial one-hybrid and electrophoretic mobility shift assay experiments and confirmed the direct regulation of genes by CodY, specifically those involved in metabolism of branched-chain amino acids, ribosomal recycling factor FRR, and the late competence protein ComER. Our data establish the foundation for in-depth study of the regulation of CodY in B. thuringiensis, and also offer a potential biocatalyst for functions of CodY in other bacteria.

  • The Markov chain properties of the sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies, namely, the dependency of the monthly SST anomaly on that of the previous month, are studied based on the SST data for 28years(1957-1984) at 5 stations in the southeastern coast of Korea. Wi classified the monthly SST anomalies at each station into the low, the normal and the high state, and computed transition probabilities between SST anomalies of two successive months The standard deviation of SST anomalies at each station is used as a reference for the classification of SST anomalies into 3states. The transition probability of the normal state to remain in the same state is about 0.8. The transition probability of the high or the low states to remain in the same state is about one half. The SST anomalies have almost no probability to transit from the high (the low) state to the low (the high) state. Statistical tests show that the Markov chain properties of SST anomalies are stationary in tine and homogeneous in space. The multi-step Markov chain analysis shows that the 'memory' of the SST anomalies at the coastal stations remains about 3 months.

  • In this paper we consider an age dependent branching process whose particles move according to a Markov process with continuous state space. The Markov process is assumed to the stationary with independent increments and positive recurrent. We find some sufficient conditions for he Markov motion process such that the empirical distribution of the positions converges to the limiting distribution of the motion process.
