Particularly derailing freight wagon, which are loaded with dangerous chemicals, has large damages on humans and environment. In this paper the dynamic characteristic of the laminated leaf spring under extreme situation, for example derailment, is examined. The leaf spring has a static hysteresis. Not only the friction value, but also the spring rate are influenced by this hysteresis characteristic. Because of the static hysteresis of the leaf spring the spring rate must be used in normal operation depending upon the loading and the kind of the excitation with the up to 10-fold value of the static spring rate. Some characteristics of the leaf spring can be treated like well-known viscous damping, but fer special situation (preload and/or excitation) particular calculation are necessary.
This paper elucidates a hysteresis current controller for enhancing the performance of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) using cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. Due to the rising power demand and growing conventional generation costs a new alternative in renewable energy source is gaining popularity and recognition. A five level single phase cascaded multilevel inverter with two separated dc sources, which is energized by photovoltaic - wind hybrid energy source. The voltages across the each dc source is balanced and standardized by the proposed hysteresis current controller. The performance of STATCOM is analyzed by connecting with grid connected system, under the steady state & dynamic state. To reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and to improve the output voltage, closed loop hysteresis current control is achieved using PLL and PI controller. The performance of the proposed system is scrutinized through various simulation results using matlab/simulink and hardware results are also verified with simulation results.

In this paper, instantaneous reactive power compensation algorithm is proposed and analyzed. The static Var generator developed in this paper is the current source PWM converter using hysteresis comparator method, which compensates the reactive power by detecting each instantaneous phase voltage and line current, independently. Some aspects on the static Var compensator-such as inductance, capacitance, hysteresis width, and switching frequency, etc.-are discussed. The dynamic performances are examined through digital simulation and experimental test.

A finite element method for the analysis of magnetic fields with hysteresis characteristics is proposed. The method employs Preisach model to describe hysteresis of magnetic material, so that even multi-branch or minor-loop characteristics can be taken into account. The problem can be considered as the analysis of a nonlinear equation where magnetization depends not only on the present value of the magnetic field but also on the past values, and the problem can be solved by the iteration method. Measurements were carried out on soft ferrite EI core for the comparison with computer solution, and good agreements were obtained. is investigated. A theoretical approach to gait study is proposed in which the static stability margins for periodic gaits are expressed in terms of the kinematic gait formula. The effects fo the stride length on static stability are analyzed and the relations between static stability and initial body configurations are examined. It is shown that the moving velocity can be increased to some extent without affecting stability margins for a given initial body configuration. Computer simulations are performed to verify the analysis.
In this study, we identified how the water content change in various NCO index affects the static comfort of polyurethane seat foam pad for automobiles. In order to identify factors that affect the static comfort, a static load test was performed using UTM to plot a hysteresis curve. The hardness of the foam when it was modified by 25, 65%, hysteresis loop area, hysteresis loss (%), and Sag factor were also obtained. By measuring the swelling ratio, it was confirmed that, as the water content increased in a fixed NCO index, the hardness and crosslinking density increased while the restoring force decreased due to the increase of urea bond. Also the Sag factor decreased due to the increase of surface hardness. As the NCO index increased in a fixed water content, the urethane and urea bond reacted more with isocyanate, leading to an increase in hardness and decrease in restoring force.

The analysis of an air spring characteristics is necessary to design and control automotive air suspension system properly. A mathematical model of an air spring was derived in light of energy conservation first. Then static and dynamic experiments of the air spring have been fulfilled. The static stiffness with various initial pressures and effective areas were obtained from the static experimental results. Theoretical static stiffness obtained by using the mathematical model and effective area data is in close accordance with the experimental estimation. The dynamic experimental results show that the hysteresis in displacement-force cycle decreases when the frequency of the harmonic displacement excitation signal increases, but it does not change too much as the frequency is higher than 1Hz. And the dynamic stiffness goes up with increasing of the initial pressure and the excitation frequency.

In this paper, we propose a method for joining mobile nodes in wireless sensor networks using hysteresis features. It is possible to use static hysteresis, whereby joining and withdrawal are carried out repeatedly when a mobile node is located at boundary points. The energy consumption of the nodes can be effectively managed by a decrease in the response packets of the neighbors under the joining requests of the mobile nodes. However, static hysteresis causes a decrease in the joining rate. In order to increase the joining rate, dynamic hysteresis is used. To evaluate the performance of the proposed technique, the joining rate is investigated and analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed method enables efficient joining according to the mobility of nodes in wireless sensor networks.

This paper proposes a control algorithm for STATic synchronous COMpensator(STATCOM), based on Space Vector Modulation(SVM) and Hysteresis Current Controller(HCC) techniques. STATCOM is used to reactive power compensation on a distribution network. The proposed algorithm utilizes the advantages of the fast dynamic response of the hysteresis current control and the reduced switching number of the SVM scheme. The controller determines a set of space vectors from a region detector and applies a space vector. A set of space vectors including the zero vector, to reduce the number of switching, is determined from output signals of two hysteresis comparators. The presented control system was tested with digital simulation in the Borland C++ program and demonstrate the advantage of the proposed hysteresis current controller.
The steady state of unsaturated soil takes a long time to achieve. The soil seepage behaviours and hydraulic properties depend highly on the wetting/drying rate. It is observed that the soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) is dependent on the wetting/drying rate, which is known as the dynamic effect. The dynamic effect apparently influences the scanning curves and will substantially affect the seepage behavior. However, the previous models commonly ignore the dynamic effect and cannot quantitatively describe the hysteresis scanning loops under dynamic conditions. In this study, a dynamic hysteresis model for SWCC is proposed considering the dynamic change of contact angle and the moving of the contact line. The drying contact angle under dynamic condition is smaller than that under static condition, while the wetting contact angle under dynamic condition is larger than that under static condition. The dynamic contact angle is expressed as a function of the saturation rate according to the Laplace equation. The model is given by a differential equation, in which the slope of the scanning curve is related to the slope of the boundary curve by means of contact angle. Empirical models can simulate the boundary curves. Given the two boundary curves, the scanning curve can be well predicted. In this model, only two parameters are introduced to describe the dynamic effect. They can be easily obtained from the experiment, which facilitates the calibration of the model. The proposed model is verified by the experimental data recorded in the literature and is proved to be more convenient and effective.

Previous dynamic models of hysteresis motor use an extended induction machine equivalent circuit or somewhat different equivalent circuit with conventional one, which makes unsatisfiable results. In this paper, the hysteresis dynamic characteristics of the motor rotor are analyzed using the inverse Preisach model and the hysteresis motor equivalent circuit considering eddy current effect. The hysteresis loop for the rotor ring is analyzed under full-load voltage source static state. The calculated hysteresis loop is then approximated to an ellipse for simplicity of dynamic computation. The permeability and delay angle of the elliptic loop apply to the dynamic analysis model. As a result, it is possible to dynamically analyze the hysteresis motor according to the applied voltage and the rotor material. With this method, the motor speed, generated torque, load angle, rotor current as well as synchronous entry time, hunting effect can be calculated.
