유도전동기의 무정류자 크레므형 슬립전력회수 시스템의 적정설계 및 고효율화 운전에 관한 연구 (A study on optimum design and high efficiency operation for commutatorless Kramer type slip power recovery system of induction motor)

  • In this dissertation, a complete model of commutatorless static Kramer type slip power recovery system of 3.phi. induction motor has been designed and tested in the laboratory, and the experimental results are compared with the numerical values. The main results of this study are summerized as follows. (1) Maintenance and repair of the mechanical commutator is obviated by adopting a thyristor commutator in place of the mechanical commutator in the conventional Kramer system. (2) The experimental results of developed torque, and stator current are generally coincided with the numerical values obtained by the derived equation, proving their validity. (3) This system is simulated and the following operational characteristics are obtained with suitable design values : (a) The speed control range of 7:1 is obtained when the turn ratio of induction motor is lowered to about 3:1 to 4:1 and the generating constant of auxiliary synchronous motor is increased to 120-175 range. (b) Its efficiency can be increased to 75-85%, the range for static Scherbius system and its power factor takes values in the range of 65-85%, which is twice of the range for static Scherbius system.

Testing and Modification of an Axial Flow Irrigation Pump manufactured in Vietnam

  • The performance of a commonly used, inclined shaft, axial flow pump manufactured in Vietnam was evaluated . The pump tested had a 37 cm diameter thrust impeller and 40 cm outlet diameter. This pump was initially evaluated to establish the base performance curves for three total static heads of 1.45 m, 1.75m and 2.15 m at a constant recommended speed of 980 rpm. In the field survey, brass sleeve , impeller and lubricating system. These parts of the pump were modified and then it was tested again at the same test conditions used for the original one. Maximum efficiency of the original pump varied from 56.11% to 53.15% , and that of the modified pump from 57.63% to 54.52% when the total static head varied from 1.45 m to 2.15m . At these total static heads, the discharge, the total head and the power input varied from 387 to 347l/s, 4.25 to 4.60m and 28.72 to 29.38kW, respectively, for the original pump and from 388 to 346l/s , 4.29 to 4.63 m and 28.23 to 28.91 kw, respectivel , for the modified pump. The efficiency of the pump after modification increased by more than 1.5% and the power input decreased by 1.7%.

  • The aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan is strongly influenced by the various design factors of a rear-guider and a stabilizer. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of a rear-guider and a stabilizer on the aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan. The design factors considered in this paper are a rear-guider clearance, a stabilizer clearance, and a stabilizer setup angle, respectively. This experiment was carried out with a constant revolution number of 700 rpm in a cross-flow fan installed in the fan tester. The static pressure, flowrate, torque, and revolution number were measured in this paper. Also, the pressure coefficient and the efficiency were analysed according to the various assembly conditions using a stabilizer setup angle, a stabilizer clearance, and a rear-guider clearance in the indoor room air-conditioner.

  • The energy concept has been applied to the reported experimental results of six different structural steel connections to investigate the characteristics of system-dependent energy curve and energy absorption efficiency. For this the concept o( static and kinematic energy absorption efficiency has been defined. The present paper closes with the implication of the necessity of further investigation to extend the energy concept to reach the engineering practice.

  • This study was carried out to investigate blowing performance for blowing type in space heater. This paper present that power requirement, static pressure, total pressure and static pressure efficiency were increased in proportion to air flow rate. And in the Korean space heater, side ward blowing type was effected than downward blowing type.

  • In recent years inverter power sources are more and more used for resistance welding processes. In this paper some results of investigation into the static and dynamic behavior of high-current rectifier diodes used in these inverter power sources will be discussed. By means of digital simulation, losses and efficiency have been determined depending on the power semiconductor parameters.

  • In this paper, a massless link model transmitting external forces is developed to achieve the numerical efficiency in simulation of vehicle suspension systems. Forces acting on links are resolved and transmitted to attached points with a quasi-static assumption. Also, a theoretical derivation and computer implementation of a massless link with bushing elements are proposed. In the massless link with bushing elements, one end is connected to the adjacent body with bushings and the other end is connected with a spherical joint. The deformation of a massless link with bushing elements is theoretically determined by minimizing the potential energy function with quasi-static equilibrium assumption at each time step. Several simulations with a full vehicle model are carried out to compare the efficiency of the developed massless link component. From the results, it is concluded that the proposed approach can reduce the computational time considerably.

Development of an Electro-mechanical Driven Broaching Machine

  • The machine tools builders are trying to improve the efficiency and performance of the machine tools. The electro-mechanical driven broaching machine has many advantages such as lower noisy operating, higher energy efficiency, and smaller space of installation. This paper presents the structural and mechanical development of an electro-mechanical driven broaching machine that is replaced for traditional hydraulic one. The servo motor, ball screw and roller linear guide are used instead of hydraulic cylinder and translation frictional sliding guides. The simulation method based on FEM was applied to analyze the stress, deformation of the machine for static analysis. The dynamic analysis was carried out for verifying and assessing the mechanical behavior of the developed broaching machine. This work helps broaching machine developer make a better product at the early design stage with lower cost and development time.

Employing rotating vaneless diffuser to enhance the performance of plenum fan

  • Numerical simulation is carried out for flow characteristics in a plenum fan and the influence of the diameter ratio of the rotating vaneless diffuser on the performance of plenum fan is analyzed. The diameter ratio of the rotating vaneless diffuser employed is from 1.03 to 1.3. The research results show that the rotating vaneless diffuser is able to enhance the performance of plenum fan. It is found that there is significant improvement in static pressure and efficiency at the diameter ratio of 1.05 at high flow coefficients, while the optimal diameter ratio is 1.2 at rated and low flow coefficient.

비소음 측정을 이용한 저소음 축류홴 설계 (Design of Low Noise Axial Flow Fan Using Specific Sound Presssure Level)

  • Experimental investigation was conducted to study the effects of pitch angle maximum camber on the performance and noise of an axial-flow fan used in outdoor-unit of air -conditioner. For this study the axial-flow fan whose pitch angle can be varied was made and the Specific sound Pressure Level and other coefficients were measured using the anechoic fan tester. It is found that pitch angle affects more severly than the maximum camber on the fan performance. On the while the maximum camber affects much on the specific sound power level. Present results show that it is important to choose the optimum pitch angle and maximum camber to design the high-performance and low-noise axial-flow fan and specific noise measured in the anechoic fan tester can be sued effectively for the design of low-noise fan.
