Modeling of a Transfer Function for Frequency Controlled Resonant Inverters

  • A linear transfer function for the output current control of frequency-controlled resonant inverters is proposed in this paper. The circuit of resonant inverters can be transformed into two coupled circuits through the complex phasor transform. The circuits consist of cross-coupled power sources and passive elements. The circuits are used to induce the state space equation, which is transformed into the $4^{th}$ order cross-coupled transfer function. The $4^{th}$ order cross-coupled transfer function is modeled into a $2^{nd}$ order linear transfer function based on a behavior analysis of the pole and zero locations that facilitate a simple and intuitive linear transfer function. The feasibility and validity of the proposed linear transfer function were verified by simulation and experiment.

  • 리튬 이온 전지를 사용하기 위해선 내부 상태를 추정하는 알고리즘이 필요하다. 알고리즘 적용을 위해 리튬 이온 전지에서 나오는 전압과 전류신호를 이용해 전기적 등가 회로 모델을 설계한다. 이 모델은 전압원, 저항, 캐패시터로 구성되어 있으며, 충전과 방전 시 발생하는 전기적 신호를 모사한 것이다. 전기적 등가 회로 모델 분석에 사용되는 상태방정식은 알고리즘과 상황에 따라 변경된다. 본 논문에서는 연속시간 상태방정식과 이산시간 상태방정식에 대해 다루었다. 그리고 실제 알고리즘에 적용해 성능을 확인하였다.

  • This paper studies on the design of an ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) looper control system for hot strip mills. The looper which is placed between each stand plays an important role in controlling strip width by regulating strip tension variation generated from the velocity difference of main work rolls. The mathematical model for looper is firstly obtained by Taylor's linearization of nonlinear differential equations, where it is given as a linear and time invariant state-space equation. Secondly, a looper servo controller is designed by ILQ control algorithm, which is an inverse problem of LQ(Linear Quadratic optimal control) control. By tunning control gain arbitration parameters and time constants, it is shown that the ILQ looper servo controller has the performance that makes well to follow desired trajectories of both strip tension and looper angle.

  • This paper studies the problem of computing the Hankel singular values and vectors in the input delay systems. It is shown that the Hankel singular values are solutions to a transcendental equation and the Hankel singular vectors are obtained from the kernel of the matrix. The computation is carried out in state space framework. Finally, Hankel approximation of a simple example shows the usefulness of this study.

제트엔진의 슬라이딩모드 제어기 설계 (Design of Sliding Mode Controller for Jet Engine)

  • The technique of sliding mode control has been introduced and designed for jet engine controller. For designing the controller for controlled element, the state space model of the turbojet engine is derived in advance from the perturbation of non-linear engine dynamic equation at operation point. Based upon the jet engine model, the robust sliding mode controller is proposed associated with the optimum sliding mode function. The numerical simulation demonstrates that the designed sliding mode controller proves its effectiveness for the jet engine by showing superior control performances over the conventional PI controller with fast responses and robustness to disturbance.

회귀방법에 의한 초음파 진단기의 측면해상도 개선에 관한 연구 (A recursive scheme for improvement of the lateral resolution in B-scan ultrasonography)

  • The objective of this paper is to present a digital method for improving the lateral resolution of the B-scan images in the medical applications of ultrasound. The method is based upon a mathematical model of the lateral blurring caused by the finite beam width of the transducers. This model provides a simple method of applying a recursive scheme for image restoration with fast computation time. The point spread function (P.S.F.) can be measured by the reflective signals after scanning the small pins located along the depth of interest. From the measured P.S.F., one can compute the coefficient matrices of the inverse discrete-time dynamic state variable equation of the blurring process. Then, a recursive scheme for deblurring is applied to the recorded B-scan to improve the lateral resolution. One major advantage of the present recursive scheme over the transform method is in its applicability for the space-variant imaging, such as in the case of the rotational movement of transducer.

  • In this paper, the RCF method is applied to analyze small signal stability of power systems including thyristor controlled FACTS equipments such as SVC. The eigenvalue sensitivity analysis algorithm in discrete systems by the RCF method are presented and applied to the power system including SVC. As a result of simulation, the RCF analysis method is very powerful to calculate the newly generated unstable oscillation modes precisely after periodic switching operations of SVC. Also the RCF analysis method enabled to precisely calculate eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients of dominant oscillation modes after periodic switching operations. These simulation results are very different from those of the conventional continuous system analysis method such as the state space equation method.

  • Mutual torque ripple in a brushless DC motor is the main source of acoustic noise, especially fur motor operation with high speed and torque. This paper presents a method to obtain mutual torque ripple to identify acoustic noise source. Mutual torque ripple can be determined by analyzing phase current shape and magnetic circuit with different lead angles. Current shape is determined by state space model of voltage equation with the use of inductance calculated by FEM, and confirmed by experimental results. Mutual torque ripple is also determined by FEM analysis for the calculated current shape. Acoustic noise experiment reveals that mutual torque ripple with different lead angle is one of the main sources for noise generation in a brushless DC motor.

고유구조 지정을 이용한 다중출력 시스템의 강인한 관측기 설계 (Robust Observer Design for Multi-Output Systems Using Eigenstructure Assignment)

  • This paper proposes a design methodology for the robust observer using the eigenstructure assignment in multi-output systems so that the observer is less sensitive to the ill-conditioning factors such as unknown initial estimation error, modeling error and measurement bias in transient and steady-state observer performance. The robustness of the observer can be achieved by selecting the desired eigenvector matrix to have a small condition number that guarantees the small upper bound of the estimation error. So the left singular vectors of the unitary matrix spanned by space of the achievable eigenvectors are selected as a desired eigenvectors. Also, this paper proposes how to select the desired eigenvector based on the measure of observability and designs the observer with small gain. An example of a spindle drive system is simulated to validate the robustness to the ill-conditioning factors in the observer performance.

  • To reduce unwanted vibrations in war ship which may be transmitted through underwater path, it is required to use high damping mounts to isolate the vibration. In this work, the beam structure with squeeze mode ER mount is proposed and response characteristics such as acceleration and force transmissibility of beam with constant voltage and optimal controller are experimentally analyzed. The controller is empirically realized and control responses are evaluates in frequency domains. Experiments show vibration reduction capability of squeeze mode ER mount.
