We analyze the spatially resolved kinematics of gas and stars for a sample of ten hidden type 1 AGNs in order to investigate the nature of their central sources and the scaling relation with host galaxy stellar velocity dispersion. We select our sample from a large number of hidden type 1 AGNs, which are identified based on the presence of a broad (full width at half maximum ≳1000 km s-1) component in the Hα line profile and which are frequently mis-classified as type 2 AGNs because AGN continuum and broad emission lines are weak or obscured in the optical spectral range. We used the Blue Channel Spectrograph at the 6.5-m Multiple Mirror Telescope to obtain long-slit data with a spatial scale of 0.3 arcsec pixel-1. We detected broad Hβ lines for only two targets; however, the presence of strong broad Hα lines indicates that the AGNs we selected are all low-luminosity type 1 AGNs. We measured the velocity, velocity dispersion, and flux of stellar continuum and gas emission lines (i.e., Hβ and [O III]) as a function of distance from the center. The spatially resolved gas kinematics traced by Hβ or [O III] are generally similar to the stellar kinematics except for the inner center, where signatures of gas outflows are detected. We compare the luminosity-weighted effective stellar velocity dispersions with the black hole masses and find that our hidden type 1 AGNs, which have relatively low back hole masses, follow the same scaling relation as reverberation-mapped type 1 AGN and more massive inactive galaxies.
Feedback process is one of the most important topics in the study of AGNs since it plays a key role in linking the SMBHs and their host galaxies. In order to further understand the co-evolution of SMBHs and their host galaxies, we probe the feedback process in local type-2 AGNs with a series of integral-field-spectroscopy observations. In the first part of my talk, I will introduce our GMOS observations of luminous type-2 AGNs at z < 0.1, which are selected using the integrated [O III] kinematics. Based on the dedicated emission-line diagnostics and kinematic studies, we identify the signatures of AGN-driven outflows and quantify the outflow size in the targets with extreme [O III] kinematics. For the targets without extreme [O III] kinematics, we find the presence of weak AGN-driven outflows, which are indicated by the significant differences between the kinematics of gas and stars. Then, I will present our recent study of 40 type-2 AGNs based on the SNIFS IFU. By comparing the radial profile of velocity dispersion of gas and stars, we measure the size of AGN-driven outflows in these targets and extend the outflow size-AGN luminosity relation in our previous GMOS studies. We also discuss the feedback effect of AGN-driven outflows by connecting the outflow velocity and host galaxy properties. These results highlight the importance of spatially-resolved observation in investigating gas kinematics and identifying the signatures of AGN-driven outflows.
The main physical parameters; the cluster center, distance, radius, age, reddening, and visual absorbtion; have been re-estimated and improved for the open cluster NGC 7086. The metal abundance, galactic distances, membership richness, luminosity function, mass function, and the total mass of NGC 7086 have been examined for the first time here using Monet et al. (2003) catalog.
A deep stellar analysis is introduced for the poorly studied open cluster NGC 2509. The Near-IR database of the digital Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) has been used to re-estimate and refine the fundamental parameters of the cluster, i.e. age, reddening, distance, and diameter. As well as, luminosity function, mass function, total mass, relaxation time, and mass segregation of NGC 2509 have been estimated here for the first time..

The solar neighbourhood is the starting point for studies of the structure and evolution of the Galactic disk. Yet, our knowledge of the relative frequencies, distances, ages, chemical abundances, velocities, and birthplaces of the nearby stars is severely incomplete. We have determined complete, homogeneous, and precise such data for a kinematically unbiased sample of $\~$12,000 local F and G dwarf stars and describe a first, significant result from it.
Open clusters are one of stellar systems consisting of a few hundreds to thousands of stars. The cluster members are, in general, believed to be a coeval stellar population at the same distance, and therefore they have almost the same properties in chemical composition and kinematics. Owing to these advantages, the clusters are utilized in many astronomy studies, such as the calibrations of distance and stellar age scales, assessments of stellar evolution theories, and the chemical evolution of the Galactic disk. Young open clusters are, inter alia, superb objects to study star formation process as most of stars are known to be formed in clusters. In this talk, I will review the uses of these young open clusters in star formation studies based on the ongoing work of our research group on the stellar initial mass function, an age spread problem, mass accretion rate of pre-main sequence stars, and a feedback of high-mass stars on surroundings.

We have carried out integral field unit (IFU) spectroscopy of $H{\alpha}$, [$N{\small{II}}$] and [$O{\small{III}}$] emission lines for a sample of Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) with Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars and weak emission-line stars (wels). Comparing their spatially-resolved kinematic observations with morpho-kinematic models allowed us to disentangle their three-dimensional gaseous structures. Our results indicate that these PNe have axisymmetric morphologies, either bipolar or elliptical. In many cases the associated kinematic maps for the PNe around hot central stars also reveal the presence of so-called fast low-ionization emission regions.
The bright part of the halo luminosity function is derived from a sample of the 233 NLTT propermotion stars, which are selected by the 220 km/ see of cutoff velocity in transverse to rid the contamination by the disk stars and corrected for the stars omitted in the sample by the selection criterion. It is limited to the absolute magnitude range of $M_v=4-8$, but is based on the largest sample of halo stars up to now. This luminosity function provides a number density of $2.3{\cdot}10^{-5}pc^{-3}$ and a mass density of $2.3{\cdot}10^{-5}M_{o}pc^{-3}$ for 4 < $M_v$ < 8 in the solar neighborhood. These are not sufficient for disk stability. The kinematics of the sample stars are < U > = - 7 km/sec, < V > = - 228 km/sec, and < W > = -8 km/sec with (${\sigma_u},{\sigma_v},{\sigma_w}$) = (192, 84, 94) km/sec. The average metallicity of them is [Fe/H] = $- 1.7{\pm}0.8$. These are typical values for halo stars which are selected by the high cutoff velocity. We reanalyze the luminosity function for a sample of 57 LHS proper-motion stars. The newly derived luminosity function is consistent with the one derived from the NLTT halo stars, but gives a somewhat smaller number density for the absolute magnitude range covered by the LF from NLTT stars. The luminosity function based on the LHS stars seems to have a dip in the magnitude range corresponding to the Wielen Dip, but it also seems to have some fluctuations due to a small number of sample stars.

We present an analysis of the chemical abundances and kinematics of six low-mass dwarf stars, previously claimed to be candidate hypervelocity stars (HVSs). We obtained moderate-resolution (R ~ 6000) spectra of these stars to estimate the abundances of several chemical elements (Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Fe, and Ni), and derived their space velocities and orbital parameters using proper motions from the Gaia Data Release 2. All six stars are shown to be bound to the Milky Way, and in fact are not even considered high-velocity stars with respect to the Galactic rest frame. Nevertheless, we attempt to characterize their parent Galactic stellar components by simultaneously comparing their element abundance patterns and orbital parameters with those expected from various Galactic stellar components. We find that two of our program stars are typical disk stars. For four stars, even though their kinematic probabilistic membership assignment suggests membership in the Galactic disk, based on their distinct orbital properties and chemical characteristics, we cannot rule out exotic origins as follows. Two stars may be runaway stars from the Galactic disk. One star has possibly been accreted from a disrupted dwarf galaxy or dynamically heated from a birthplace in the Galactic bulge. The last object may be either a runaway disk star or has been dynamically heated. Spectroscopic follow-up observations with higher resolution for these curious objects will provide a better understanding of their origin.
How high-mass stars form is currently unclear. Calculations suggest that the radiation pressure of a forming star can halt spherical infall, preventing further growth when it reaches $10M_{\odot}$. Two major theoretical models on the further growth of stellar mass have been proposed. One model suggests the merging of less massive stellar objects, and the other is through accretion, but with the help of a disk. Inflow motions are key evidence for how forming stars gain further mass to build up massive stars. Recent developments in technology have boosted the search for inflow motion. A number of high-mass collapse candidates were obtained with single dish observations, and mostly showed blue profiles. Infalling signatures seem to be more common in regions which have developed radiation pressure than in younger cores, which is the opposite of the theoretical prediction and is also very different from observations of low mass star formation. Interferometer studies so far confirm this tendency with more obvious blue profiles or inverse P Cygni profiles. Results seem to favor the accretion model. However, the evolution of the infall motion in massive star forming cores needs to be further explored. Direct evidence for monolithic or competitive collapse processes is still lacking. ALMA will enable us to probe more detail of the gravitional processes.
