Integrating Deep Learning with Web-Based Price Analysis to Support Cost Estimation

  • Existing web-based cost databases have proved invaluable for construction cost estimating. These databases have been utilized to compute approximate cost estimates using assembly rates, unit rates, and etc. These web-based databases can be used independently with traditional cost estimation methods (manual methods) or used to support BIM-based cost estimating platforms. However, these databases are rigid, costly, and require a lot of manual inputs to reflect recent trends in prices or prices relative to a construction project's location. To address this gap, this study integrated deep learning techniques with web-based price analysis to develop a database that incorporates a project's location cost estimating standards and current cost trends in generating a cost estimate. The proposed method was tested in a case study project in Lagos, Nigeria. A cost estimate was successfully generated. Comparison of the experimental results with results using current industry standards showed that the proposed method achieved a 98.16% accuracy. The results showed that the proposed method was successful in generating approximate cost estimates irrespective of project's location.

건설 신기술의 원가산정기준 개선방안에 대한 연구 (A Study of Improvements in the Standards of Cost Estimate for the New Excellent Technology in Construction)

  • 국내 건설기술의 발전을 도모하고 국가경쟁력을 제고하기 위한 목적으로 1989년 도입된 건설 신기술 지정제도는 심사과정에서 신기술의 원가계산서를 검토하고, 설계·시공 공사비, 유지관리비 등 비용절감효과와 공사기간 단축 효과를 경제성 항목으로 평가하고 있다. 그러나 이 과정에서 고유기술에 대하여 공사비산정기준관리기관과 신기술 개발자간의 의견차이가 빈번히 발생하고 있으며, 또한 현행 신기술에 대한 원가산정기준이 단위수량당 소요량만을 제시하는 방식으로 생산성에 대한 정보가 부재하여 기존 유사 기술과의 공사기간에 대한 객관적인 비교가 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 건설 신기술 심사 시 원가산정기준 검토절차와 심사기준, 신기술 품셈 작성방법 등 현황을 분석하고 해외 원가산정기준과 비교하여 현행 건설 신기술의 원가산정기준 개선방안을 제시하였다. 제시한 개선방안은 작업조 기반의 생산성 정보를 제공하고, 적용단가를 제시하여 원가기준의 투명성을 확보할 수 있도록 구성하였으며, 신기술의 특성을 고려하여 재료비와 기계경비에 대한 원가정보 역시 제공할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구의 개선된 원가산정 기준을 통해 발주자에게 신기술에 대한 원가정보를 현행보다 세부적으로 제공하고, 공사비 산정 과정을 보다 간소화함으로써 건설 신기술의 활용과 현장적용성을 향상시킬 수 있으리라 기대된다.

생애주기비용을 고려한 PSC-I형 교량의 최적설계 (Optimal Design of PSC-I Girder Bridge Considering Life Cycle Cost)

  • This paper presents the procedure for the optimal design of a PSC-I girder bridge considering life cycle cost (LCC). The load carrying capacity curves for the concrete deck, PSC-I girder and $\pi$-type pier were derived and used for the estimate of service lives. Total life cycle cost for the service life was calculated as sum of initial cost, damage cost, maintenance cost, repair and rehabilitation cost, user cost, and disposal cost. The advanced First Order Second Moment method was used to estimate the damage cost. The optimization method was applied to the design of PSC-I girder bridge. The objective function was set to the annual cost, which is defined by dividing the total life cycle cost by the service life, and constraints were formulated on the basis of Korean Standards. The optimal design was performed for various service lives and the effects of design factors were investigated.

  • The proportion of maintenance work has been increasing due to the recent aging of the infrastructure, but the standardized construction cost estimation standards are insufficient for this. In particular, reinforced concrete structures are being applied to many structures such as buildings and bridges, and various construction methods for maintenance of reinforced concrete structures are being developed and applied. In this study, we surveyed about the current status of the construction method for the maintenance work of reinforced concrete structures and analyze the factors of the revision of the construction cost estimate standard for the reinforced concrete structure maintenance.

수소버스 전복 안전기준 도입에 따른 통계적 인명가치 및 비용편익효과 연구 (A Study on Value of a Statistical Life and Cost-benefit Analysis about Hydrogen Bus Rollovers Safety Regulation)

  • This study is a study to estimate the VSL (Value of a Statistical Life) and CBA (Cost-benefit analysis) of the rollover safety standard for hydrogen buses, VSL is an economic value concept used to quantify the benefits of avoiding death. CBA shows the effect of cost-benefit, and if B/C is greater than 1, there is a social effect. In order to estimate the VSL and CBA, the hydrogen bus introduction scenario was assumed to be optimistic (20,000 vehicles in 2030), neutral (15,000 vehicles in 2030), and pessimistic (10,000 vehicles in 2030), and the effect of reducing human casualties was estimated. As a result, except for the pessimistic market situation of introducing hydrogen buses (10,000 vehicles in 2030) and the VSL reduction ratio of 10%, all policies were judged to have high cost-benefit effects. These results indicate that the introduction of the rollover safety standard for hydrogen buses is a socially effective policy.

  • 국내 종합사업관리 용역비 산정을 위하여 대부분의 경우, 유사 사업관리 산정사례를 참고하여 추정하거나 과업참여자의 경험을 바탕으로 비용을 산정하였음을 알 수 있다. 이는 사업관리비 산정에 대한 정확성이 떨어져 사업을 주관하는 발주기관에서는 사업계획 및 예산 반영이 어려우며, 추정치에 의한 용역비 산정으로 향후 설계변경 등의 사업관리용역비 증가의 원인이 되기도 한다. 따라서 발주자와 용역 참여자가 보다 정확한 용역비를 산정하여 변경사항 등으로 인한 비용증가와 분쟁을 최소화하기 위해서는 용역비 산정기준을 객관적이고 과학적인 방법으로 적용할 필요가 있다. 종합건설사업 관리의 용역비 산정을 위해 기존의 경우에는 사례와 경험을 기초로 한 Top-Down 방식으로 접근하였다면, 본 연구에서는 사업관리 업무를 세부단계 및 활동(Activity)으로 분류하고 단계별로 WBS를 부여하여 각각 부여된 코드에 일정과 비용을 산정하는 Bottom-Up 방식의 사업관리 용역비를 산정하는 것으로, 용역비 산정을 위한 프로젝트 기준모델을 개발하고 프로젝트별 보정계수를 적용하여 용역비용을 산정하는 방식으로 이를 ICEP이라고 명명하였다. 또한 산정된 해당 과업의 비용과 추후 실적자료를 분석하여 보완함으로써 프로젝트별 특성을 반영한 종합사업관리 용역비 산정으로 효율적인 건설사업 관리가 가능해진다.

자연환경복원산업 활성화를 위한 표준품셈 연구 (A Study on the Standard of Estimate for Vitalizing the Natural Environment Restoration Industry)

  • The natural environment restoration industry has been newly included in the environment area of engineering technology. Accordingly, the enactment of a standard of estimate for determining the 'Cost plus Fixed Fee' method has become necessary for the implementation and vitalization of natural environment restoration projects. The purpose of this study is to determine the standards for which the prices for engineering projects are calculated with respect to the enactment of an engineering project standard of estimate in the natural environment restoration field. These include the scope of the technological work, standard area, manpower requirements by technical grade that are necessary for carrying out the technological tasks. Relevant laws and regulations, systems and precedent case studies were investigated and analyzed to establish a price calculation standard. The overall results of the analysis were used and applied to questionnaires, public hearings, and expert delphi techniques. The study showed the following results: The scope of the technological work was categorized into 'Biotopes', 'Eco-corridors' and 'Ecological restoration'. The standard area was set up as $1,000m^2$ for 'Biotopes' and $5,000m^2$ for 'Eco-corridors' and 'Ecological restoration'. The manpower requirements by technical grade that are necessary for carrying out the technological tasks were determined. The suitability of the costs, standard area, manpower requirements by technical grade of ordered engineering projects that are determined by applying the standard of estimate for natural environment restoration that may be enacted pursuant to this study may be effectively investigated and analyzed. Moreover, further studies on the calculation of standard prices that can ensure the stability of natural environment restoration projects will be necessary.

종합건설사업관리 사업관리비용산정을 위한 방법연구 - 기획단계에서 실시설계 입찰까지 - (A Study on the Method for the Estimate of Construction Management in the Program Management)

  • 종합건설사업관리 발주의 대형화, 복합화로 사업관리 비용산정을 위하여 보다 정확하고 신속한 기법이 요구되나, 대부분의 경우 사업비 추정을 위한 대가산정을 유사사례를 기준으로 사업관리비 산정을 추정함으로써 사업별 특성을 반영할 수 없으며, 사업관리비 산정에 대한 정확성도 떨어지고 그에 따른 정책 및 예산을 반영하기가 어려운 것이 사실이다. 따라서 종합사업관리의 사업비 추정을 위한 프로젝트 기준모델을 개발하여 프로젝트별 특성을 반영한 인자를 적용하여 사업관리 인력 및 비용 산정을 쉽게 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 종합사업관리용역 비용 산정을 위하여 기획단계에서 실시설계 입찰단계까지의 기본모델 작성에 대한 각 단계별 세부업무 패키지를 분류하고, 각 패키지의 상세 과업내용에 대한 분야별, 등급별 투입인력을 산정하여 보다 상세하고 객관적인 사업관리 비용을 산정하는 방법론에 대하여 연구하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과물은 발주자와 사업관리 용역업자 간의 분쟁을 사전에 예방할 수 있으며, 발주자 입장에서는 투명한 사업관리용역 비용산정이 가능해지고, 용역업자 입장에서는 업무성과에 대한 합리적인 대가를 지급받을 수 있는 근거를 제시할 수 있을 것이라고 기대한다.

설계변경에 의한 공사비의 증감에 관한 연구 (The Research about Increase and Decrease of the Construction Cost by the Alteration of Design)

  • The purpose of this thesis is to provide an appropriate trade-off information for the conflicting interests caused by the various factors between building owner and contractor during selecting the contractor and performing the construction work, in which the construction was contracted by open bidding from the government or private organizations. In order to propose the legitimate evidence, the differences between the domestic contract sheet of drawing change and the process of drawing change and those of the foreign countries were compared and analysed The number of construction ordered in Youngdong area in 2001 whose construction expenses are more than 100,000,000 won is 218 items and 147,005,000,000 won in total cost Among them, the number of 218 items whose total cost amounts to 16,705,000,000 (11.36$\%$) is in case of increase of construction expenses due to the drawing changes, and the number of 48 items whose tool cost amounts to 2,009,000,000 won (1.37$\%$) is the case of decrease. In conclusions, the contractor could have more benefits than the building owner in case they submit the detailed estimate sheet without eliminating the increasing expenses of construction. It is shown that the building owner's loss is increasing whenever the labor cost is higher material cost Therefore, this thesis proposes a proper standards for the harmonious compromise between the contractor and the building owner for the problems caused by the drawing changes when the contract agreement is occurred.

부체도로 포장의 단면 설계 지침 개발 연구 (The development of pavement section and thickness design guidelines for rural access roads)

  • PURPOSES : This study proposes standards for rural access road pavement section and thickness design considering existing access road construction conditions; the study also proposes a complementary policy that can be used for design convenience. METHODS : Various literature review and case studies had been performed in terms of rural access road section and thickness design, both domestically and internationally, and this was followed by domestic rural access road field surveys. KPRP and KENLAYER were used to analyze the commonalities and predict the remaining life. Data on real cost is used to select an appropriate construction method through economic analysis. RESULTS : The economic efficiency of concrete pavement ($15{\times}15$) was the highest in terms of economic efficiency of performance life and traffic volume. In the case of asphalt pavement, it is considered that the most economical method is to implement micro-surfacing method four times as a preventive maintenance method (once every 10 years and 4.5 years for asphalt concrete pavement and MS construction method, respectively). Repairable asphalt pavement is advantageous for areas where heavy vehicles are expected to pass. In the case of other general areas, it is considered economical to place concrete ($15{\times}15$) pavement. However, as analytical results on its performance life are unavailable, it is to be considered for study in the future. CONCLUSIONS : This study proposed interim design guidelines based on various domestic and international design guidelines and case studies. However, in order to develop the final design criteria applicable to the field, it is necessary to (a) estimate the bearing capacity of the lower level of the pavement at various sites, (b) estimate the daily traffic volume, (c) implement advanced low-cost pavement technologies, and (d) propose maintenance standards and techniques for long-term performance.
